Good stuff. Make more and involve your coworkers in the pictures, if they're up for it. It'll foster a feeling of ownership in the crew. Elvisio "ah, management. Somedays I miss it, but most days I smack myself and wonder what the hell I was thinking" Rodriguez

As a whole, I agree with most of the thread. I like the idea about using peoples' names, I'll have to try that. OTOH, I've been cursed for most of my life with being able to see both sides of the story. In this case (the same as the long-ago thread about fast food orders getting FUBAR'ed by inept counter workers) I find it hard to expect anyone to give much of a damn for minimum wage. I know that I like my job, but if I was getting $5.25 an hour, I'd be much less motivated. Like somebody else said earlier, money talks. It goes both ways. You gets what you pays for. Elvisio "but a "hi" would be nice, I agree" Rodriguez

Used to be a rampant roadie. But after moving through a succession of areas that are terribly anti-cyclist (as opposed to the in-hindsight very pro-cycling area I got started) I let it drop. Was fun, but not worth the risk. Elvisio "now I just ride the couch" rodriguez

One trick would be to take some satellite pics (Google Maps or whatever), import them into a photo editor or whatever you have, and cut/paste simple squares to try to estimate the ratio of the surface ares for automotive vs. non-automotive. You'd go buggy trying to do it for a whole city, so consider doing it for a pic of a few city blocks that you would consider representative of the whole. If no computer program is available, print out the picture, get out your scissors, and start cutting out sections. Then measure and add up. My WAG would be for a higher percentage used for car stuff in the suburbs than in the city. In the burbs there's room for big parking lots and 2.5 cars per family. In the city there are more parking garages (vertical rather than horizontal storage) and fewer car-owners. No? Elvisio "sounds like a good arts and crafts project for the kiddies" Rodriguez

RB 254. I think it was WFFC 1999. Tuesday or Wednesday night. No daddy, thankfully, but three mommies. Surfia; Tabla; and another that tequlia has wiped from my mind. Elvisio "old skool" Rodriguez

I passed my EMT-I examination on Saturday. I am now authorized by the NREMT to administer potentially lethal cardiac drugs. Oh yah, and morphine too. Sorry, guys, not taking orders at the moment. Elvisio "hands free" Rodriguez -
But, but, but honey, I know it's a gas guzzler, but think of how much it'll cut down on our commute time! Elvisio "need to double park it" rodriguez

Anyone have experience with aftermarket cruise control units? I've decided that as soon as I pass boards and start work at the new job that I'll be dumping the Chevy Tahoe (roomy, but only 17mpg on flat ground with a running start and a tailwind) for a little gas-sipper. I really like one particular make and model (left out of the discussion to avoid the typical rants and raves about such topics) but am absolutely PISSED OFF that the only way to get cruise control is to buy the $3500 "everything you don't want along with cruise control" package. Obviously adding this much to the price of the gas-sipper shoots the price point to hell and has me thinking I may as well move up a model or two. So, there are these outfits that sell and/or install aftermarket cruise control units (thank you Google). 1.) Do they work? and, the question I'm afraid I already know the answer to: 2.) Will installing one void the factory warranty? Elvisio "all about getting a car that weighs less than I do" Rodriguez

It depends on the individual woman's shape. Setting aside the fat vs. skinny and badonkadonk comments, even shapely women are put together differently. Some women have the hips for this or the butt for that, and some don't. So, there is no one magic answer. On the other hand, I'm not too picky, especially if they're going to be crumpled up on the floor in a few minutes anyhow!

How the heck can we have negative humidity?
skydiver30960 replied to mbondvegas's topic in The Bonfire
Dude, that means it's SOOOO dry that if you step outside you'll dry up and turn into a little pile of dust just like the crewmembers on that one original Star Trek episode. (Insert bad Shatner impression here) Elvisio "I... must... save... the crew...." Rodriguez -

BRING IT! GREAT friggin' idea. As for "not messing with other peoples' pee," I'll be cool with that idea as soon as they stop messing with my money [taxes]. How to pay for it: the system pays for the welfare recipient's weekly drug testing until they test positive, then they get cut off until they're clean again, then THEY pay for the testing out of their check from that point on. Sold. Where do I sign? Elvisio "sounds good" rodriguez

Depends on: 1.) How drunk I am; 2.) How much clothing I'm wearing; and 3.) What else might be living in the pond. Elvisio "leeches and snappers and snakes, OH MY" Rodriguez

Most states allow civillians to own machine guns and destructive devices (which most automatic shotguns would be by virtue of bore sizes beyond .5" and not having a sporting use). But tell me you wouldn't be DA MAN at the duck blind next season!? Elvisio "quack, quack, .... BLAM BLAM BLAM BLAM... silence" Rodriguez

And it seems to get the Snopes Seal of Approval, with the exception that the pic is actually of the USS San Antonio, a vessel of the same class. Elvisio "good stuff" Rodriguez

The jump from the B-17 ranks somewhere in my top five fav jumps, EVER. Period. Worth every damn penny; hell, worth more. The jump was awesome, but the ride was beyond words. To be able to, in such a small way, experience a small bit of such an awesome (in all of the meanings of the word, both good and bad) bit of history is something I'll always treasure. Is it something I'd do at every boogie? No. Is it something to miss? Definitely not. Elvisio "what a ride" Rodriguez

Oh, sorry, that'd be me. Elvisio "you know I'm just kidding Brandon" Rodriguez

I don't think you should worry about the drill, I think you should worry about your buddy. How old is he and he doesn't know how to put a damn bit in the chuck? Elvisio "grip it and rip it" Rodriguez
