  2. shitty photoshop.... but that could be my sceptisism talking... and the question of why he'd be taking a photo of half a mirror...
  3. most stuff will burn if it's powdered... look at iron. Put a lighter to a saucepan and bugger all happens, powder it, and you get pretty sparks.... of course exactly what happens when powdered zinc burns is another question... Edit... apparently, if your fire is hot enough, it'll burn and give off big white plumes of Zinc Oxide... For a proper reaction, add sulphur (see pic) Zinc Oxide can be found in certain medications, and when ingested can have poisonous symptoms in large doses. It's not classed as highly toxic, but I can't think large amounts of inhalation will be good for you.... be careful of the fumes... posted for purely academic purposes...

    Sex with the ex?

nooooo! run away! run away! run away!!!!! One of the worst ideas known to mankind... right up there with admitting to a girl you only got together for a bet with your mates....
  9. [hijack] that's including Scotland! I was talking about England! nah.. you're right... it'd take a little longer, but I still reckon with a decent bike and clear roads, the length of britain should be less than 10 hours... The AA assumes you actually stay at the speed limit [/hijack]
  10. I can drive the length of my country in that time!
  11. I wouldn't yank on anything... smooth imputs are generally seen as the best way to go.

  19. Use three bits of string to measure your d-bag when packed. Then measure the string with a ruler... lxbxh = volume maybe
  20. what works rather well is swiping a mates packet of smokes when they go up for a lift, and then spent the next 20 minutes putting a hair into each cigarette. I guarentuee they can't smoke it without gagging... ... at least...
  21. in response to below: there is little point changing your first post except to get the answers you want to hear - i believe (and I'm sure I'll get flamed just as much as you if I'm wrong) that the only correct course of action was to stay on the ground. You seem to miss the point that it's an extremely dangerous situation and concentrate instead on the academic question of canopy pressurisation in turbulant conditions. You will get some of the answers you're looking for, but I'm afraid I'm not changing my post just to make you feel better. Eventually, when enough people keep telling you that you're being reckless, you may listen. Why would I want to prevent that?
  22. [Edit] It was an insult. [/edit] It's not an insult, but an honest question... winds of 40mph - you shouldn't be jumping. dangerous direction - you shouldn't be jumping. with 2 other 'gung-ho' newbs - you shouldn't be jumping. you asked what I would have done? Stay on the ground.
  23. England - we call 50mph winds "near-hurricane strength" and 3 inches of rain "flood-like deluge" just to make the weather interesting.... it's grey here a lot... there's cloud and drizzle, and that's about it. And the Scots. They could be a natural disaster I suppose...
