    Media player 10

grrr.... Media player.... Every download just makes the bloody thing more complicated and slows everything down. [grumble grumble]
  5. nope... (and it is a repost.... I couldn't do it last time either )
  6. Whips, chains and engine oil....
  7. 1) IMO Hanging it up makes it loads easier if you can do it. 2) Don't pull your cutaway... if you managed to tangle it attached to the risers, you can untangle it still attached. It can all become a hideous mess if you chop it... 3) Do it one step at a time - make an alteration and then run the lines again. If you make multiple changes you'll have no idea if you're making things better or worse. my advice...
  8. German cars? What about English cars? Ok, I'll take it--but only if you give each of us a new MINI. deal... I'll swap you for a new GT40 Oh.. and I think the Bowler Wildcat is a totally British car. Made in Derby - TVR/Landrover engine made in blackpool & Derby etc... Nothing quite like a 5 litre racing 4x4...
  9. and the latest prequels... The Machine Crusade and the Battle of Corrin. yup... I'm a Dune fan The best part is that scuttlebutt has it that Brian Herbert is working on 'Dune 7' - the sequel to Chapterhouse Dune resolving the Honered Matres / Reverend Mother / Others mystery. Apparently it's based on notes that Frank Herbert wrote before he died. The original series of books are great, but get more self indulgent the later they get IMO - God Emperor of Dune was really hard work... took a few reads till I got into it, but now it's one of my favourites. The prequels are good but a little thin - they lack the complexuity and depth of the original series. All the movies are cool, both the new set and David Lynchs' interpretation...
  10. it's a dead simple website (see link at bottom) done in Dreamweaver so I guess HTML - nothing complex. I just want to know how many people have clicked on the downloads bit... Edit: I've got a general counter on there... (Can you tell I'm a web newbie? Is there a book entitled "my first webpage" with waterproof cardboard pages? )
  11. The law your referring to makes it legal to shoot a Welshman in the grounds of Hereford cathedral with a Long bow on Sundays. The same rule exists in Chester but only after midnight and a similar law was enacted in relation to Scotsmen inside York’s city walls after dark. I have to warn any would be archers though; it's a myth. Whilst the laws did exist, the doctrine of implied repeal would mean you'd find yourself caught by the Homicide Act 1957. Yes! I remember! I was drunk in Chester on a New Years party when I was told that! Cheers! That's been bugging me all day! Homicide act... bah humbug... [mutter mutter]
  12. "Rule of Thumb" derives from an old English law that says that it unacceptable to beat your wife with anything thicker than your thumb... It is still legal to shoot a Welshman with a crossbow in parts of England - the law was never revoked. (I'll remember exactly where soon - my memory ain't what it was).
  13. don't let anyone cook bacon near you... the smell of that was my downfall... oh well... I have no will power.
  14. I'm captain Jack Sparrow..... YARRR!!! "...in short you act like a stupid drunk..." BWAHHAHAH! Yo ho me hearties! Drink up!
  15. Whilst we've all seen those counters at the bottom of pages saying "you are visitor 78 million" or whatever, does anyone know of a way to monitor hits on a specific link within a page? e.g. streaming audio / video link.... Cheers Will
  16. in the UK it depends largely on your skydiving history and how well you're known at the dz. There are no general rules for licensed jumpers. Get your A in 18 jumps and were current, capable and aware before you took time out? A friendly CCI might let you do a solo, more likely if they know you. However if you got your A in 38 jumps and have comments like "Will you at least try to arch?!" or "Next time try being stable!" in your log book and you can bet on a retrain... see? I'd plan on doing at least 1 supervised jump and paying for it - if you're expecting it then it's not a shock and if they don't charge you then you've got added cash for jump tickets
  17. fair play... If I could do that, I'd be showing off a little too!
  18. yeah... we were dissapointed when he came to the UK. Tiny venue - it should have been brilliant, but was a massive let down. Room for Squares is still an awesome album though. last good live gig? umm... a long time ago...

    Monty Python

E's not the messiah. E's a very naughty boy! Or.... Whenever life gets you down Mrs. Brown And thing seem hard and tough And people are stupid obnoxious or daft And you feel that you've had quite enough Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving And revolving at 900 miles an hour That orbiting at 90 miles a second so its recond A sun that is the source of all our power The sun and you and me and all the stars that we see Are moving at 1,000,000 miles a day In an outer spiral arm at 40,000 miles an hour Of the galaxy we call the Milky Way Our galaxy itself contains 100,000,000,000 stars It's 100,000 light years side to side It bulges in the middle 16,000 light years thick But out by us its just 3,000 light years wide. We're 30,000 light years from galactic central point We go round every 200,000,000 years And our galaxy is only one of 1,000,000s of 1,000,000,000s In this amazing and expanding universe The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding In all of the directions it can whiz As fast as it can go , the speed of light you know 12,000,000 miles a minute and that's the fastest speed there is, So remember when your feeling very small and insecure How amazingly unlikely is your birth And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space 'cos there's bugger all down here on earth.
  20. "... Aw Fuck. Reserve Total."
  21. because when I do start swooping, I don't want to have a low sight picture ingrained. Imagine transitioning to a canopy that requires initiating a turn at 400 ft and you're used to starting at 150ft (arbitrary numbers); you wouldn't start the turn high enough and you'd dig in... This is something I've had explained to me by several experienced and respected swoopers. I'd prefer something that gives me a little more margin for error... I'm not having difficulty judging the recovery. I'd just like it to be longer.
