Just to get this information out there so that folk understand timelines of vaccine development: I'm working on the 'hyper fast-track' design and production of a Covid vaccine manufacturing plant right now. The first commercial batches from that facility are expected in October NEXT year. That's based on a positive Phase 2 / 3 result in December this year. It then takes 10 months to design the process and get it ramped up to 1000l batches. Simply buying the equipment has a lead time of 8 months. And the team is scratching their heads on how to even do it that fast. So unless we started working on a vaccine before the pandemic actually started the likelihood of having commercial vaccines any time soon is extremely questionable. There might be small batch stuff for PR / marketing soonish, but not in population-based scales.

My sample testing of n=1 is also showing very positive correlation between high dose oral premium tequila and not having coronavirus. I'll keep everyone posted on that.

I knew as I was typing it that it's unrealistic. The inability of the US to trace infections to single people and further to prove willful negligence (it's my choice to ignore recommendations!) rather than accidental exposure (I did everything I had been told to do!) would make the entire concept nonviable. BUT, from a purely hypothetical discussion position I was thinking that if it were possible then one example would be that airdvr's insurance would be liable for the hospital bills should I become ill due to his actions, as well as any legal or death benefits, and that the insurance limits are what MY insurance would pay out, not his. Additionally, I think people that willfully put others at risk (your drunk driving example) should still have criminal liability of someone is injured or killed because of their actions.

And in a surprise to absolutely nobody "US told to get ready for vaccine 'by November'"... It's Trump's Hail Mary pass and it's reckless, irresponsible and dangerous. Disregarding the potential risks of an unproven vaccine that has had limited testing, a botched roll out will result in large swaths of the population being less likely to get a better vaccine when the time comes, 'well the last one didn't work...', guaranteeing we'll continue to have a Covid issue for years to come.

True enough. Until this election I've not really been passionate about people voting. I never did for nearly 30 years of my life. It simply didn’t seem important - meet the new boss, same as the old boss. However, having seen the damage and danger of the last 4 years I'm now a massive convert. Vote. Vote properly and with understanding of the issues.

If a voter picks someone other than one of the two evils in a two-horse-race that decides the future of the country then IMO, they're're a moron. And an ignorant, selfish moron, at that. Protest votes don't count. Do we really think anything happens to those ballot papers where you write in an alternative candidate? Do you think there's someone in a back room going 'oh look, if only we'd run this third candidate they would have received so many votes!'? Of course not. Those papers get thrown in the trash and your impact on the world is WASTED. The reason someone writes in or selects a non-valid candidate in a 2 person election is to make themselves feel better. No other reason. It's so they can feel smug about it but have deniability when the elected candidate turns out to be shit. 'Well I didn't vote for him....'.

Yup. The only issue is when politics plays with justice. Like the governor of wherever saying he’d pardon the couple who were brandishing weapons at protestors despite any court finding. That’s not the court of law doing it’s thing. I could totally see this going the same way. -

What? The fact that he purposely traveled to somewhere that he had no reason to be, armed, with the deliberate intention of confronting a group of protesters means that when he inevitably shot someone he can't claim self defense? Couldn't agree more. I drove around downtown San Diego this morning for over an HOUR looking for a parking spot. Nothin'... The parking lots are full of cars with out-of-state license plates like it's a holiday weekend and the tourist attractions have massive crowds waiting to get in. Mostly not wearing masks. LA is still shutdown because they have such a high infection rate. So they just jump in the car for a couple of hours and boogie down here for the weekend... Awesome.

It absolutely won't be over if Biden wins. Getting rid of Trump stops the rot but the Corona virus pandemic will still be going on. The incredible social tensions between whites and blacks, as well as between Democrats & Republicans will STILL be going on. It'll take a generation to resolve those. At least. The US is so far behind the curve on the coronavirus we'll be dealing with it for years to come, along with the implications of massive unemployment, rising healthcare costs and a tanked economy. The DNC platform of renewables, social reform and healthcare for all is great but how about we hear Biden say 'look folks. You want the truth? We're in the absolute shit. The ship is sinking. We're going to focus our first term on fixing the hull and bailing out all the water that's dragging us under. After that we'll look at painting the rooms, installing solar lights and making sure everyone gets equal pool time.'

It'll be interesting to see what happens to Q after Trump is gone from office, either this year or at the end of his next term. Trolls like that exist for the thrill of the response so they'll HAVE to slowly alter their narrative to stay relevant.

Ron doesn’t rile me up because he’s very consistent in how he posts. He has belief and posts in line with those. While I might not understand some of his beliefs it doesn’t annoy me. Other posters who I’ve blocked are as variable as a fart in the wind. They’re only in it for the internet points. THAT riles me up on a discussion forum.
