  1. The local volunteers are making me even more pissed off than normal. I’m getting called / texted 6 or 7 times a day to ask if I’m be voting for X. Despite being on the FCC no spam call database. It’s SUPER obnoxious.
  2. https://www.bbc.com/news/election-us-2020-54401186 "US President Donald Trump's tweet on Friday confirming that he and his wife had tested positive for coronavirus shocked the world." No. No it didn't. In fact I'd say it shocked precisely zero people who actually listened to what the experts have been saying for the last 9 months. See, it turns out that if you don't socially distance yourself and wear masks during a highly contagious pandemic, you actually put yourself (and here's the important part) at higher risk of contracting the virus. It's not exactly rocket science. Specifically, it's basic epidemiology.
  3. I wonder if we’ll start seeing the White Hiuse being sued for knowingly endangering people?

It’s not even decent grammar. Its should at least be WOGAG - Where one goes, all go. I suppose you could toss a 1 in there if you want it to look like a teenage text.

    Prepping?

I was trying to make a joke out of it because of all the gun talk. Tough to do on the internet and it fell flat.

Go on the dark web and you can find pretty much anything for sale so I should probably stack up on a contingent of claymore mines, you know, for SHTF. And I also need the gear to modify my car to Mad Max style with a flamethrower mount. We've also got a big hill behind our house, so I should probably look at installing a cannon battery up there. If you're going to do something, might as well do it right.
  7. I’m just sad that big chunks of the US think that this is OK for presidential behavior, regardless of anything actually said. Yes, Biden is old. Yes Biden isn’t as sharp as he used to be. But both of those things can be said of Trump as well as the embarrassment he’s causing to the office from simply how he behaves. He’s someone’s drunk, in-PC uncle who you can cringingly laugh off the two times a year you see him, EXCEPT HE’S THE FUCKING PRESIDENT. Talk about a divide in the population expectations.

I have LE backup on my position too, Ron. If I pick up the phone and dial 911 the cops come.

    covid-19

That's the type of attitude that actually scares me. It's one of the reasons Hillary lost last time.
  10. Honestly I had to google that. I never realized there was a difference. I agree. Avoidance is fair game. Evasion is not.

I have that, but also have a home brew system and 70 liters of beer currently conditioning.

    Prepping?

We've got a couple of months of MREs and additional long shelf life food as well as water stashed away. Plenty of stuff like powdered milk, sugar and coffee too. I also bought a really good water filter / purifier. I tend to have 3 month supplies of medications on hand all the time, so that's not too much of an issue for me. The generator would be helpful, but I do wonder if in that situation being the only house in the neighborhood with lights and AC doesn't make you MORE of a target. I really need to do a load of wildfire prevention this year.
  13. I honestly don’t see the point between these two. Jerry called it ages ago. This election isn’t about issues or mental acuity. It’s a referendum on Trump. I seriously doubt the debate will sway a significant portion of voters.
  14. AI controlled cars would make traffic orders of magnitude more efficient. Watch this for a short example:
  15. This is what I was saying back in May. Trump doesn't 'lose'. It's just not in his psychological makeup, and the Republican senate have shown themselves to be animals who are purely after power. My one hope was that the Supreme Court might actually do their job, but it's looking like that's getting staked with people who are more interested in my team vs your team than 'America'. That was WITHOUT the consideration of people like Ron actually taking to the streets, armed and looking for 'enemies'. At that point it comes down to the military - and that's when the US fractures and becomes a true banana republic.

What do you think this means? Because I have no idea. Does using square brackets make it secret?
  17. And once again Turtle manages to derail the topic of a thread by his actions. Any thread that suggests that Trump or the GOP has done something wrong and he’ll come in, make such an ASININE series of comments that people can’t help but post on how his viewpoint is wrong while losing focus on the original issue. It’s such a standard MO that I’m starting to think he’s actually a Russian bot.

*facepalm You just don’t GET it, do you? The riots aren’t about what party is in power, no matter how much you wish it was. In a lot of ways it would be simpler if that was true.... It’s about systemic racial injustice in the American culture and that’s not suddenly going to stop with a change of political party. It’s going to take a generation at least because people like YOU simply don’t understand the problem. So Biden and Harris are being honest when they say this isn’t magically going to stop. The same as the COVID pandemic in the US isn’t going to suddenly stop if the Democrats win. But neither of those will stop if Trump wins either. He’s just too scared to admit that because it doesn’t match his ‘I fix everything’ sales pitch.
  19. No. Nobody thinks Trump personally approved this design. But the incompetence of employees does directly reflect on an employer. If my employees kept making not only stupid but brand-damaging errors then it would reflect poorly on me as their boss. Not because I was making the mistakes personally but rather because I’d hired people who were too lazy or incompetent to do a good job, and people would talk shit about me as a result. That’s not a tough concept to grasp, surely.
  20. And by not making a deal out of bounties being put on them.
  21. Remember, it's the same PR team that 'mistakenly' used third Reich imagery for the Trump campaign shirts.
