  1. Skypuppy... that's amazing! I can't believe they did that on a regular basis! Thank you for telling me that. Chaps Carpe diem
  2. Those are cool pics! thanx for the info! Man... those legs are wide! It's great to have this visual reference! Thanx Again Chaps Carpe diem
  3. yeah, same here... I chose to get a new g3 with lots of options as well. The g4 is nice but you're not compromising the basic design of a nice mirage either way. My buddy in Dallas has a new g4 and it's nice... but I honestly can't say that I like it any better than any of the nice g3's I've seen! The mirage just rocks! You'll like it either way! I hear the cut-in laterals are nice! Chaps Carpe diem
  4. I've got new ZP overstuffed in a tight rig! Starting to be able to go sub20! WooHoo! Chaps Carpe diem
  5. All right nightingale! Welcome to the club! Aff is not easy to get through and you've accomplished something wonderful! Welcome to a whole new world! Chaps Carpe diem
  6. Awesome work Jeff! Unfortunately... this info. makes me realise that, at least for now, it's unrealistic to think skydivers coud use this method for anything but a one time type shot. Boy, it sure would be cool if we could. Imagine getting the same rush with your friends and not having to waste millions of gallons of jet fuel at the same time! C-ya! Chaps Carpe diem
  7. Rehmwa has it down exactly!!! lol Chaps Carpe diem
  8. Like they said... goggles, logbook. You're probably not sure what type of flying you'll be doing so wait a little while before purchasing a jumpsuit/helmet/rig. When you're ready... one of the most important things IMHO is an audible altimeter... not to rely on, of course... but it's nice to have! A must for me. Chaps Carpe diem
  9. I know that you are right. I know that if money were no issue it's even possible that one little baloon(probably not like any conventional baloon) size could hold enough of some type of light enough gas to get a certain weight to a certain altitude... I just wonder how I could find out how realistic this is. Miranda--- thanks for the links! That's really cool that a skydiver did that! I'm so jealous! Chaps Carpe diem
  10. Brand spanking new mirage Only 19 jumps on it so far! Chaps Carpe diem
  11. Don't do it till you see it. When you want to do it... just do it like you can feel yourself doing it in your mind. It'll just happen! Have fun!! Chaps Carpe diem
  12. Now that I have my liscense and rig... I can't seem to focus on school. I sit here all week reading this site... just waiting for Friday ($14 jumps!) wishing that I had one of those trailers at the DZ. At least then I'd be a little bit closer! My father is starting to realise that his son will have a BS in Bio put straight towards a career at the DZ living in a trailer! How will I ever be able to explain?????? Oh-well... tomorrow is Friday! Chaps Carpe diem
  13. I've got a brand new safire 2 and I've gone to hell and back learning to pack it! The way I do the tail is just to do the top part first by the slider and then holing that I use my free hand to slowly move down the tail rolling the whole way. This will reinforce the top roll the further you go. It's hard at first! My packers could barely get this thing in the bag themselves... but persistence definitely pays off! You'll get it! Chaps Carpe diem
  14. I can't seem to get your link to work Miranda... I'd like to see something like what I was talking about... seems cool. Chaps Carpe diem
  15. Oh yeah... I need to think about what base stands for first! Anyway, I agree with you... wouldn't that be cool if we could have some baloon in our rigs that we can set for a certain altitude... then just release! I wonder how expensive light gas is? Probably not realistic... just neat to think about. Chaps Carpe diem
  16. I've had an idea for awhile... What about some sort of really light gas? Why couldn't we incorporate some sort of baloon into our rigs to take us up and then just release? I understand that we would be at the mercy of the wind on our ride up... but we could use some sort of guide wire for the first couple of hundred feet... right? Just a thought. Chaps Carpe diem
  17. Another way... if you're on camera just have the outside two face eachother and you on the inside filming... all hold one hand in the center and you sort of roll out on top of them. This is a flower. If there's stability issues just take the other hand and grab the person next to you shoulder. I just did a successful one last weekend! Lots of fun! Good luck man! Chaps Carpe diem
  18. Just wanted to input... I just got a new mirage and it just rocks!! I only got the hip rings instead of the unisyn... but that alone is so freaking comfortable! Man... when I close this baby and look at it... I know it's not opening till I want it to! (of course, it's possible... I just feel that way!) SO comfortable! I like the vectors, wings, and infinitys as well. Chaps Carpe diem
  19. No way man! It took a lot of jumps with friends and solos to get really stable. You'll get you're feet down in no time (just put them down!!! Think: Shove them feet down and keep them there!!!) but then alot of people have a natural front or back slide... just keep jumping and it'll work itself out! 2-ways the way to go! Chaps Carpe diem
  20. Awesome input hookit! I'll be sure to let you know as I progress what's happening! You guys rock! Chaps Carpe diem
  21. Right on man! good luck with the gloves and be sure to let me know! Do they compromise much in term of pulling/feel? Chaps Carpe diem

    Safire 2

This is my FIRST canopy... but I jumped several sabers, spectre's, and navigators. This canopy definitely has the sweetest openings I've felt. They do take a while though... my friends tell me I can eliminate this as I get more comfortable packing it. I load mine around 1.2 and it's tons of fun! I can make it back from a far spot as well or better than any other canopies in the air. I was really worried ordering my new canopy because of what was said about the bottom end power of the safire one. Let me set the record straight... This problem is ELIMINATED!!! Chaps
  23. Awesome... thanx for the input! I'm already leaning against my apartment wall trying your ideas out Zen! Thanx again everybody! Chaps Carpe diem
  24. I won't lie... I started way too early by alot of peoples standards... I've got video of a 4-way sit with my best friends at jump 14. The thing is I was in a unique position to have really close friends that were already experienced freeflyers. Also, I worked with the guys that I started jumping with at an 'extreme' amusement park. I already had alot of experience remaining calm in intense situations with these exact same people. They had talked to me the whole way through my AFF and when I graduated they just couldn't wait to show me how to fly!!! God bless freeflying! Chaps I also wanted to say that I just felt comfortable right off the back. I graduated aff in 6 jumps. Everyone is different. You know if you're ready. If you aren't sure... you're not! Don't be TOO stupid! Carpe diem
  25. Hey all... I'm about 225 out the door and I'm having no problems with stability or slight movements. I just can't slow down. Protrack has me averaging over 170. I know that I've just got to get out of this lazy position my muscle memory has adapted to (ie. get those hands down). The question I have is... especially since I want to get serious about freeflying... is how to teach myself to slow with my legs. I've had several people give me info. on this and I'd like to know what you guys think. So far, I've been trying to bring my feet out to teir respected sides so that the inside of my lower legs is catching more. This works, but my stability is immediately compromised as this position is much more difficult to fly! I want to free my hands up and take some docks with you guys! HELP!!!!!!!!! Chaps Carpe diem
