Skydive San Marcos Halloween boogie
Chapsta replied to josheezammit's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Oh-yeah... I'm pumped! I guess now is a good time to start thinking of a costume Chaps Carpe diem -
Glad it helped! More jumps... definitely the answer! The positions mentioned here are good to think about for where you are at now in your progression... eventually fall rate will naturally happen for you. Then you'll have questions about sliding, docking, flocking, HD... it never ends! Chaps Carpe diem

Way Cool vs. Cookie vs. Royal Lenses

I believe the 109 is a 25mm thread... Chaps Carpe diem -
Having your arms lower and legs 'flared' out is the key. Try keeping your knees where they're at in your neutral head-up position and bringing your feet out to the sides. The inside of your lower legs are a powerful tool when head-up flying. Take your hand and rub the inside part of your knee down to the inside part of your ankle... this is where you want to be fluent with the wind. Dismissing the idea of 'sit' flying and flying a wider head-up position makes all the difference! Have fun and I'll see you up there! Chaps Carpe diem

I was hoping somene might like to chat about this... I've had some success with taking a squared-off single hand dock and sort of turning in to the other hand dock and flying it. Getting there to the two hand dock from a one hand dock isn't the hard part...it's flying it once you get it! I'm certainly not graceful at it, but I'm (slowly) improving. Once in the dock I sort-of lean back a little and arch the top of my chest. My question is how to take the dock with both hands simultaneously. Leaning back to fly it works well once you're in the dock... but I can't fly that position in to actually take the dock. Ya been there? chaps Carpe diem

144 jumps and you flew a 3-way head-up formation... that is awesome! Good for you! Lately I've been pinching myself... just to make sure I'm really awake... so many of the jumps have been what I've been waiting for! Keep going and I'll see you up there Chaps Carpe diem

What else can I do to learn about flying a canopy?
Chapsta replied to windcatcher's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
that book will give you what you want... the why instead of just the how. Chaps Carpe diem -
Pretty much word-for-word that's what happend to me at #180ish. Stuck toggle (same type reason) and a decision to make! I figured OK If I land this thing I'll live... but I'm not so sure I'll be walking around the rest of the day. A clean reserve sounded better than taking the chance to me then. Really, it still does. I mainly fly my rear risers now under canopy... but the thought of not having the option to use my toggles just doesn't sit well! Nice job! Chaps Carpe diem

i'm not gonna ask for a follow up on the mexico story!!! Bitches it is then Robert... Bitches it is... Chaps Carpe diem

What's up Brian... Some of us from dallas were talking about coming down for that. We really want to hit that rear exit and if you guys are gonna be there sounds like fun!! Chaps Carpe diem
-
See you guys there!! Chaps Carpe diem

We've done that... Have the guy being surfed put his back to the relative and exit more like a back-track poisition. He can hold the surfers foot Surfer just sort of sit fly's the exit... Good luck! chaps Carpe diem

A sort of 'project horizon' inspired type thing is supposed to happen soon at my DZ. I really want to improve my head-up skills to confidently know I can dock on HD formations... not just some dives... most of them!! Chaps Carpe diem

I use it normally, but I haven't tried using the other mode yet. I jumped the suunto with an alti for a few jumps and was really surprised at how well it performed. I've got an X-lander and it updates rapidly the whole dive on regular mode. I'm pretty sure the vector is the same thing. the watch rocks under canopy! Eyes first right... Chaps Carpe diem

Hey you guys! Hope all is well in SM. Nice double spock! Chaps Carpe diem

no worries man... I didn't know until recently either... 3 points on the head: L. hand flower- round- R. hand flower (or oppostie order) 3 points in sit: stair-steps with each jumper taking turns in each position. (we alternate top to bottom) 3 points on belly: Left hand donut- Right hand donut- Star My take on the dive: Get the points on your head right out the door so that you're in a sit as you come off the hill. This is going to be the hard part... my advice is to set the stronger two sit flyers in the top two spots. The top sitter needs to set a smooth comfortable base, and the second sitter has to dock the steps twice! The bottom (or third) sitter might prefer to stay on their head until the first two have built so they are exactly where they need to be. Be real heads up on altitude here and deciding wether or not to continue to your belly. USPA recognizes the award and you can find all the exact info on it by contacting them or their website. Good luck! Chaps Carpe diem

Right on Goat... will do. Hope you make it back some day soon! Chaps Carpe diem

Is a FF handle (pud) harder to grip than a hacky?
Chapsta replied to skymiles's topic in Gear and Rigging
I've got a hundred jumps on a hackey followed by about 300 jumps with the FF handle from Mirage (throw out). I never had a problem with the hackey, but I do like the FF handle better now. It simply doesn't move. It may take you a few jumps to get used to it at first, but if the pulling procedure feels good on the ground you can make it feel just as good in the air. Try em out. If you don't like, don't use. Chaps Carpe diem
