Any of you guys tried headdown in a wingsuit? I found a video called 'Moyen Teaser' here and it cracked me up

I quite like to take one out the back of a Skyvan! Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

I also jump with a CamEye and it's great: no asking people if your recording light is on, no fumbling around with gloves on. The best thing about it is the amount of tape and battery I save by being able to stop/start so easily. Get one! Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

As far as I'm aware the more experienced you become at skysurfing the bigger your board becomes - slowing your fallrate down to normal flat speeds if not slower. When you're learning on a small board (with a corresponding high fallrate) the placement of your feet is slightly different to allow you to deploy on your belly. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

Cynics have suggested that PDF invented reversed risers to avoid having to pay to use the 'standard' 3 ring system. Cheeky buggars that they are! Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

Whoa! That's some bad shit right there. Great video though

An interesting story I found through Slashdot gave me the idea to check the Wayback Machine (a web page archive) for old versions of dz.com Here's what I found. The oldest archived version is only around 3 years old but you can see a bit of the forums..... Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

What was the mod? Do you jump with a longer bridle/bigger pilot chute? Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

I saw that too and my first thoughts were the same as yours

I'm just full of questions aren't I?! Where does Birdman (or anyone else for that matter) go from here? The Skyflyer has a whole lot of wing and it doesn't look like there's room for much more so what's the next generation of wingsuits going to be like? Would a wing from wrist to ankle work? Have non-rigid wings reached their limit of performance? Surely not. People must be working on some cool new stuff so let's get guessing as to what it might be! Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

Before I bought a wingsuit (yesterday, yeah!) I was planning on saving for a new rig for next summer but now I'm not so sure - specifically about how wise it is to downsize or get a higher performace canopy. So what I want to know is: (1) What your canopy is (2) What your wingloading is (3) What your openings have been like with your wingsuit I'll start: (1) Spectre 135 (2) 1.3:1 (3) Only 10 wingsuit jumps but openenings were flawless! One 180 degree turn but that was caused by me turning slightly during deployment. Come on, this should be interesting! Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

I don't have JumpTrack (yet) so I can't download anything. I bought the ProTrack with the intention of doing wingsuit and speed skydiving jumps so I'll get the JumpTrack stuff eventually. Thanks for the offer of the laptop, remind me next time we're both at the dz and we'll try it, I'd like to see the results. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

I was, my best was 105 seconds from 13500 feet but pulling high (around 5500) as they were my first jumps. At that kind of fallrate I'd need a little over 9000 feet of freefall to hit 2 minutes in flight. Take a look at the front page of the birdman website, there's a list of 60+ second base flights - some are approaching 90 seconds! Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

I was quoted £595 for a GTI by one of Birdman's UK dealers over the weekend but that seems a bit steep: bird-man.com says $656.00, which is about £420. Where did you uk jumpers buy your suits and how much did they cost you? Thanks, Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

As far as I'm aware the BPA's 500 jump limit is just a recommendation and all you really need is CCI approval. 500 seems a bit mandatory to me, I think the BPA just wants to cover its arse incase some low-timer takes a suit out and bounces. Well I didn't get that, just a brief on exits, body position, pull-time and emergency procedures. If your CCI knows you quite well (which I know yours does ) and thinks you're safe then I'm sure he'll be cool with it. For what it's worth I think if I coped alright with less than 500 then most other people could too, even you! Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

Way Cool Industries They look pretty cool, great for unusual pov shots and I imagine for base also. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

Yes yes, it's fair to say that I have the right build for flying a wingsuit. One word: gangly. I figure with a GTI that fits properly (the Classic was ok but not great) and with a few more jumps I should be able to get into the 40s. All at Langar, I had last week off to conincide with the Skyvan being there. I have about 390 jumps, got a brief, a Classic, CCI approval and off I went! Did some cool jumps where we left a 30 or 45 sec gap between the last group and us and just blasted back to the dz. The vertical and horizontal range of speeds is just amazing. Jumped with Hippo (TM with x thousand jumps) and I've never seen anyone smile so much, you just can't fail to get a buzz from sunset flocking.

Awesome! Was in the bar last Sunday night and made a comment that I'd really like to get into wingsuit flying. Less than 12 hours later I was briefed up, suited up and on lift 1! Put 10 jumps in: some solos, 2 ways, 3 ways and a 4 way. Got my average (on the Classic I was borrowing) down to 53mph on one jump which was pretty sweet. So the order forms should be on their way to me right now and I'll have the suit just in time for the British winter . It's just too much fun! Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

Whilst they were going through todays newspapers this morning on RI:SE (uk breakfast tv) I thought I saw flash of Felix Baumgartner planning to cross the channel on a Skyray..... Has anyone seen the paper in question, I didn't catch which one it was? Craig? Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

I think Spectre is 'slightly tapered' - or whatever pd call it. I assumed the Omni was just a tweaked version of the Omega which I've never jumped but a friend has had one for a while with no major complaints. Gus OutpatientsOnline.com

protecting your camera in freefall - what's best?
gus replied to mountainman's topic in Photography and Video
I'm not sure whether this is true or not but someone suggested to me the other day that camera condoms were bad because if any water gets inside it's got nowhere to go and has to stay inside with the camera.....? Gus OutpatientsOnline.com -
advice needed - skydiving and relationships - how do you manage both??
gus replied to Newbie's topic in The Bonfire
My gf mentioned the other day that she only ever sees me on the weekends at the end of the pay month - ie when I'm too skint to jump. Dammit, I thought she hadn't noticed! She's actually quite cool about it, I'd been jumping for a while before I met her and before we started going out so she knew what it means to me and where I'd be alot of the time. She's also coming up to the dz in a few weeks time and I'm hoping I can convince her to jump but even if she doesn't it should help show her what it's all about. For what's it worth I think you did the right thing making your priorities clear from the start - apart from being completely honest about it what could you have done? So for me the key to a good jumper/whuffo relationship is (1) being up front about your addiction and (2) making a real effort when you're not at the dz to make sure she knows that she's important too.
