Putting skydiving videos on the net

I just got this capture card so I could put some of my skydiving videos onto the net. I have one problem, though. File size!! All my videos are huge! What's the best way to encode videos so they're as small as possible? I just used Premiere 6 to encode a 5:45 min long video in .AVI format with DivX Pro and the file size is huge. I just paid 20 bucks for the Pro version of DivX thinking it would help, which it did somewhat. It brought the file size down from 57mb to 32mb, but the file is still huge! I've seen 6 minute videos around 3-5mb! I know AVI's are bigger than mpgs, or movs, but I didn't see an option to use the DivX codec with those formats, unless I'm missing something? Whoa!! I went skydiving today and I tried freeflying... I got into a head down position. IT ROCKED! Oh man, oh man... freeflying rocks! Check out this video of today. I don't freefly through the whole video, but throughout the middle of it I did. I used to feel the same way. I loved the freefall part, but I dreaded the landings. Every time I would think I'd be flairing good and SLAM...owch! I was about ready to have somebody get on a loud speaker and tell me when to flair. lol I used to flair all in one motion, that's what was killin me. Now I do a 3 step flair and I haven't had any problems since. ------------------------ Freefly, baby.

Q. Has anyone else had a run like this, or am I just pissing someone off upstairs??!! Dammn, all in one year? Here's my list of injuries: broke my leg playing football cracked open my chin while riding my bike off a launch ramp that was just too big. broke my wrist while skateboarding (at least i broke this bone doing something cool.. 360 indy grab on a professional sized half pipe at vans. my wrist slammed into the coping on my way down) broke my arm while i was dancing on a chair and tripped (that sucked..) and 2 concussions. ------------------------ Freefly, baby.

I've only jumped out of a C-182 7 times while doing my static line course. I like a bigger plane like a Twin Otter better just cause it's bigger and because here's more ways to exit out of an otter than a cessna. ------------------------ Freefly, baby.

I'm an ASL student as well. That'd be cool to meet a deaf skydiver. It'd be fun to try and sign with them while in freefall. The only deaf people I've signed with were two skaters I met at Vans. I saw these two guys signing, so I signed over to them across the skatepark. They saw it, so they skated over and we talked for a bit. Whenever I try to upload an icon I can never get it small enough! I saved a little 50x50 image with photoshop as quality level 0 and it's still too big! What's the dealio? ------------------------ Freefly, baby.

Why not just pack it right and then you don't have to worry about any malfunctions due to your psyco pack job.

Good points. I wouldn't intentionally cut away, but if I had to, I think it'd be good in the long run just to know that everything works okay. Well, assuming everything did work okay. But I'm sure it would.

Other than the Triathlon 135, I've jumped a Tri 160, 175, and some student rig that was somewhere around 250. My landings were perfect with every other sized canopy besides this 135 so far. I haven't tried a 150 yet, but I'm guessing it wouldn't be much different than the 160. Thanks for the info on the reserve.
