  1. i went from a VX to JVX. Fairly similar flight on VX and Xaos27 from what i know. Based on that... In my experience, VX is starting to die out at 2.5+, JVX just wakes up. I've flown JVX's of different sizes from 2.4 to 2.8 loadings and I think that for comps a JVX loaded 2.5+ is better than a lighter loaded one. The question is: Will this be a competition canopy or mostly an "every day" canopy? If competing is your thing, then you'll probably find yourself wishing you could load the 82 more. If it's a work canopy... well... Still. JVX needs to be loaded if it's "performance" you're looking for. And if you werent looking for performance, you wouldn't buy a canopy like that, right? ;) Besides.... how do i put it delicately... anything less then 2.2:1 is for pussies and post AFF graduates :) P.S. i am talking about my ZP JVX's, not sail/hybrid ones. Sail can take even higher loadings and flies a bit different too, but hybrid @2.8 was not my favorite.
  2. Thank you! This should be a locked sticky for all future new jumpers.
  3. give it up already, public will never see it as a sport or us (well, you) as sportsmen. Lets just enjoy our "exclusivity". but no holding hands, ok? :)
  4. Do "little" and "AggieDave" really belong in the same sentence? He is wise though, not quite GW-wise, more like Baxter, only bigger and with less hair.
  5. And a video from there: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAqje9pJgmY The wipe out @ 2:47 is spectacular! Who was it? SoFPiDaRF - School of Fast Progress in Downsizing and Radical Flying. Because nobody knows your skills better than you.
  6. It looks like Jay Mo had to be #1 again... Look at that freakin thing! I think it actually creates extra drag!
  7. Max is done, stick a fork in him. But with that he is now free to pursue a lucrative career of a professional poker player. hmm, may be a 15 minute speed tourney with 2.5 minute blinds on the ride up can make him put his rig back on... i should try that. All in on the last hand/red light, whichever comes first?
  8. Sure it's not "Shake and Bake"?
  9. Yes, what Albert said. And just think of the benefits! Next time someone says: "hey, who are YOU to judge me?!" You'll be able to say: "well... i am a judge, actually". You don't know how good that feels! And before you ask, yes, i have used my rating like that on numerous occasions and i will do it again. oh, and don't forget to vote!
  10. but in a very respectful and humble kinda way, you know? Chuck Norris called GW after the World Meet to congratulate him on his results. And while on the phone, Chuck asked GW for tips on how to improve his roundhouse technique. Makes me think that was the REAL purpose of the call.
  11. You too, Albert. Please ensure that the course for the Clewiston event is well set up, the grass is green, the water is blue and everything is up to GW's standards, and you know how high his standards are! And after you're done... stop and ask yourself: "WWGWD?" and i am sure you'll find a lot more that needs to be improved. You got your work cut out for you, young man, better get to it.
  12. wait... you're serious?! Why pay AFF and Tandem instructors, video guys and coaches? They are getting a free jump! LMAO
  13. The doctor said i was fine. Now please stop posting off topic, Ian. This is not about me. this is about GW, err, i mean about the Raeford swoop pond.
  14. Harry, please address Mr Windmiller as "Sir" or "Mr.". Addressing him as "One of the Greatest Swoopers of all times", while absolutely true and warranted, makes him just a bit uneasy... due to the fact that he is a very very humble person. Also, please try not to use his name in vain as He hears all. And when He hears His name, it distracts Him from finishing the final 5th volume of his book aptly titled "The Memoirs of a Swooper", in which Mr. Windmiller tells it how it is. That is how to become a world class swooper in two years or less and how to turn your canopy. Here is what some of the greats had to say after reading the first 4 volumes: - I never knew how deep the game really is. The amount of knowledge crammed into the first 2 volumes is INCREDIBLE. - Ian Bobo, PD Factory Team - With unparalleled wit and good humor Mr. Windmiller describes the techniques and tells the incredible stories of how he struggled to get to where he is today. The wisdom of volume 3 made me rethink my life and career choices all over again Craig Girard, Arizona Airspeed. - Simple. Powerful. Life changing. Hillary Clinton, former US Senator - I am retiring next year. I am glad, otherwise i know he'd stump me. But in a humble and respectful way, you know? - Jay Moledzki, PD Factory Team Sorry for digressing and promoting the Great Book, i just hope you all get to read it, it will change your life. I did mine.... Back to the topic, though! With the new pond and the tunnel Raeford is going to be the Premium US DZ, worthy of and able to accommodate GW's swoop practice. Just a suggestion though... Could they make the pond 600 feet, so that GW can do dirt-water-dirt?
  15. Let me see. 150 jumps. Highly loaded elliptical canopy, way above current experience level. Attempting an advance flying maneuver, i would guess with no proper supervision or training. Putting his close ones in a lot of pain. PA removed.
  16. I love this thread!! Two white boys rapping Agent Lead are you reading this?? This is the most entertaining discussion on dz.com in a while!! Colucci, you're da man for challenging The Colon Berry. Shhiiit, if this happens i'll even help you with some swooping advice for your next Ranch Pond Swoop.
  17. No. You have to have 120 jumps and 3000 posts in two years or less on dz.com to qualify for that rating. Craig, unfortunately, just doesn't cut it.
  18. Edit this topic already! This is WIND TUNNELS, not "I have 20 jumps more then you so i am better!" dick measuring contest, err... i mean Bonfire. Tired of reading nonsense posted by the dz.com experts with thousands of posts and a hundred jumps
  19. Who is this Kirk guy you all are talking about? Can he even dock on speed star formation? pass a baton in the air? do a stand up landing in the peas?
  20. Priceless!! I was laughing so hard i couldn't read any further, after "This is incorrect!!" it became difficult to finish reading even the next few words. This has GOT to be one of, if not THE funniest thing i have ever seen on dz.com in 8 years!! Respect to you for a good sense of humor. THIS is what dropzone.com is all about people! read and learn.
  21. why spend 60 bucks on a pair of grown man's MX pants? when you can be like the big bully Texan here - beat up your little brother or threaten him with your big handgun (since his is smaller) and take his MX pants. Apparently, they are not capris. They are MANpris. Or so those who wear them say. They also call spandex Underarmor. Crazy Americans.
  22. Dont forget to thank YOUR personal unofficial sponsor - Enzyte for making that wonderful Once-A-Day Tablet that keeps you happy and performing to the Army standards. 2.33!! ***And the meaning of life is........... Be content with what you are and what you have, Remember, it could always be worse! It is not what happens to you, it is how you react to what happens to you, that makes you who you are!*** Thats not the meaning... what was that? It made no sense... was that a catchphrase or epilepsy? P.S. from now on when in doubt i will be asking myself: "WWGWD?"
  23. Instructors in the tunnel that give you GOOD coaching are working extra. if someone does you a favor and actually works with you for free for your own benefit... well, i think they deserve a little something, no? Tips are not required of course, but i hope you got what you paid for ;) The tunnel guys my friends and I've been flying with over the last year actually WORK when they coach us, helping us out a great deal. They have been or have become our friends over this time and tipping friends feels a little weird. But i appreciate what they are doing and the hard physical work they put in. Some of them will come in even when they are sick just to help us out and fly with us. Bottom line is - if you feel that you've been helped, got good coaching and have improved as a result of it... throw the instructor a few bucks as a small token of your appreciation. If you dont feel like you've been coached and the instructor was simply doing his job - keeping you safe in the tunnel, without making any out of the ordinary steps to IMPROVE your flying then dont.
