  1. I will double check them. I logged off for the night, you got me thinking earlier and I was on for a little bit looking at security but I didn't look at permissions under the actual share tab thinking that was all set by security. I set and change all permissions using RDP. I don't do any of that across the network through the share. If worse comes to worse I now know that I can get into the registry of the client PC's and set a couple keys to include the hidden share and also map it with the hidden share added but I hate not being able to figure out what is different about these folder's permissions when on the surface they look the same as the folders on the old server. Thanks for the help all.
  2. Positive. The relational and transactional database services have been stopped since Monday. These are just data folders. They are not accessed until a user logs into the software client. I've also copied the directories for the data and created new directories and copied the data from the old server's directories, each way I get the same result. I asked if I should do a dump instead of just copying the files into the shared folder on the new server and the vendor said that it did not matter. Same DB version also, only difference is OS so that is one of my concerns. Like I said these are just the data files, users need to write to those in order to make updates etc. I'm not a DB guy so we could be on a different page about this here but these are just data files. As an update. If I include the hidden share drive letter in the UNC I can modify things within that folder. ie. \\server-name\d$\foldername Don't know why adding the hidden drive (D$) in the UNC or mapped drive makes a difference. I don't have to do that with all my other shared folders.
  3. I'll try a different server tomorrow. I'm really wondering now if it has to do with copying from a 2000 server though. The permissions did not get copied when I did it so I had to set them up on the new server. Set them exactly the same as the old server too. Funny thing is, the vendor called me today asking if I figured out what the issue is. I get that a LOT when I run into issues with our vendor's software! I've probably contributed quite a bit to our vendor's knowledge bases. Maybe I should start charging them...
  4. I just copied the data files after creating the folders and installing the DB engine. Tested the DB engine first and it ran fine so then I copied the DB files. This is what the company that developed the software confirmed to do. I also tried restoring the DB files from backup tape to the new folders but that failed too due to authentication error. Sorry it's not x64, I have x64 Citrix servers that I primarily work on and I accidently put that there.
  5. Yes, if you mean the actual data not the DB engine files. When the program is opened on the client PC that is when the DB engine tries to access those folders, but not when just the DB engine is running. I have the DB engine installed to a separate folder on a separate drive (partition), it does not need to be shared and it is running (Pervasive SQL) for one, the other does not use a DB engine. I think it's something coming from the root drive that the folders are stored in just can't pin it. Might help if you all knew the OS on the server is Windows Server 2003.
  6. I cannot wrap my head around this problem I am having. I have a new server I'm trying to migrate two databases over to because the server they are on had a perc controller failure and is on it's last limb. I can do anything on the server when RDP'd into it because I am a domain administrator. However after I got the databases moved and added the user group's permissions I UNC into the folders and I cannot add sub-folders write to folders etc. even as a domain admin. Users need to be able to read/write to these folders, obviously, so they are not able to get into the programs I migrated. I have made sure there was not a maximum # of users set on the shared folders, made sure domain admins and even my username was in the local administrator's group and still cannot do anything within those folders. I tried taking ownership of the folders within remote console and still cannot do anything. I have also mapped a local drive to the folders and get the same results. Another thing I just got done trying is taking the server off the domain, rebooting and putting the server back on the domain. I'm running out of ideas and have never had this problem before. So, to sum it up, I have full admin rights to these folders and the drives they are on, I can do anything within them when I RDP into the server but that is the only way I can do anything within those folders. Any thoughts?
  7. Sorry for you and especially for the man's family... Been there so I know how it feels. One of my best friends took his life a few years ago. No one saw it coming.
  8. Anytime Kim! Come on over! Bring some beer...
  9. Youre asking SKYDIVERS.... How many of these guys do you know that absolutely will not be with a woman if she isnt Barbie??? We spend our weekends outside in the nasty heat/cold doing what we love. And that's skydiving. I know maybe one girl that still looks drop dead gorgeous while doing it (I know I dont) but that doesnt mean they arent damn sexy. Okay, that brings up a question I've been wondering for a while. Why are skydiver women so hot? They may not all be "supermodel" beautiful, but every last one of them is super sexy. It's almost an "aura" around them. I don't understand it (and really don't care if I ever do or not), but something about them is really attractive. And no, I don't mean just in the airplane when I can blame it on hypoxia. My guess, confidence. I mean real confidence.
  10. Psssst!! You're all damn sexy!
  11. At the moment no but it's a Persian thing. To ask questions about life, love, art and kebab in a cafe or near a bonfire. So it's a Persian thing to whine about things? We all question things and are curious about life's little intricacies. What you seem to be doing is not questioning "life, love art etc.." but more like what a little kid does when he complains to mommy when the next door neighbor kid can do something he can't. Just sayin'
  12. Ok, there are superficialities (is that a word?) on both sides and they usually find each other and all is good. I don't want that and I don't want to be with a woman that wants that so I really don't give two shits about superficial people. I just wonder why you care so much about the subject? Does it really affect your life? Hey girls, wanna know how much I make?!
  13. I heard his wife was partying down in Seaside Heights with the dudes from "The Jersey Shore" because they know how to respect a woman. Fist pumps!! Wow girl...simply wow. Really? WOW! I have no clue where to start with you and your personal attack. But to just demonstrate your sad state I will simply ignore you and I hope you find inner peace. That wasn't a PA, IMHO. What do you expect from others here when you haven't even been a member here for a year and all you've done is act like an arrogant ass towards women?
  14. You are married right? Why don't you quite worrying about what other people think about you and why women can get away with things that men can't and go take care of your woman! And then thank her for being able to put up with your shit!
  15. Thanks everybody! I won't put any olive oil on it. I thought that sounded like bad advise when I read it too but had to ask. I usually just wipe mine off too but it's not an excuse to not wash dishes. Wendy, I think I'm going to try burning it off like you said. I think I'm going to soak it and let it completely dry a couple more times though. Luckily for me that roommate moved out a week ago right after he washed it. We usually would just do all the dishes that were there no matter who's they were instead of letting the dishes build up in the dishwasher so I'm sure he was just trying to be nice. I'll keep an eye on it when I cook it at 500 because the last one broke by leaving it on the stove top when one burner was still hot! Thanks again!
  16. With soap!!! I thought this was common knowledge that everyone knew. Well apparently, my roommate did not!!! I unknowingly cooked a pizza on mine last night and only got half way through it when the taste really hit me and I figured out what it was! Anyone done this before and gotten the soap out. I soaked it overnight in warm CLEAN water but haven't tried it yet. Wondering if I should season it with olive oil and bake it for about 30 minutes. One google result said to try that. Just wanted to see if anyone has had any success. This was a Christmas gift and was only used twice. I broke my last one. I am so mad because I told him this with the old one when he put it in the dishwasher!!!
  17. Not sure if that was a direct response to me or you were just replying to the last poster as I often do, but I actually had someone ask me if I wanted to sell my tank to him. I didn't post it for sale and I actually gave the guy a good deal considering all the stuff he was getting. Granted that is a funny add and all, I was just trying to give the OP a general price range for what I was actually selling.
  18. Mostly I think it is childish. After thinking about it for a second though I think it may be ok if he is mad and just wants to control that anger and not get in another argument with you. That's assuming you got in an argument. Women do it all the time though, a lot also won't admit when they are mad about something or be honest about what they are mad about. You just get "I'm fine" What do you call that? Childish? Best way to get a point across? I didn't vote because I really haven't formed a solid opinion. Also, I talk about what I am mad about with whom I'm mad at and work it out, but that's just me.
  19. Post of the day!!! I am just catching my breath!
  20. Wrong answer! Someone is buying my 75 gallon tank and stand for $50 more than I paid for it when I bought it from a friend and is happy. BUT, I included both filters I added, the power heads for the bottom filter that I added and the heater that I added so they are getting a deal. Fuck giving that shit away, I want a little of the money I've put into it back if possible. So to the OP I'm selling it for $150.
  21. Ahhh, the White Elephant gift exchange. We do that between a couple departments at work and I opted not to do that this year. Some people (like me) put some thought into it and spend at or very close to the top limit put on what you can spend and end up getting a fart noise maker (the kind that produces a different fart noise each time you press a button) and a shirt that says "Whose your Santa" Both most likely regifted and no thought or $$ of the persons own was put into it. I put thought into gifts I give FTR.
  22. nice looking Albert. What race is he ? Thanks! Usoun is beautiful as well! Love Ridgebacks! Albert is a Bullmastiff with a little bit of Redboned Coonhound mixed in. Great seeing everyone's best friends, keep it going!
  23. That's funny! But no, that is my former roommate's dog.
