  1. It's rainy here in the Great Northwest. Weather probably won't be any better tomorrow either. We were scheduled to get some big way practices in for the record attempt at the Leap for Lupus boogie in August tomorrow but it doesn't look like that will happen now.
  2. I like to make a red white and blue jello dish for the 4th of July. I make this in a glass Pyrex dish that is 15 X 10 X 2. I use the big boxes of jello the kind that require two cups of hot water and 2 cups of cold water. Make blue jello and put blueberries or black berries in it and chill until set up. Make raspberry jello (red) and add raspberries then pour that on top of the chilled and set up blue jello. (You can also use strawberry jello and use strawberries for this layer) When that layer is chilled and set up, top with cool whip and decorate the top like a flag with fresh blue/black berries and raspberries/strawberries.
  3. Hi Tanya! Good to see you here! We've talked on Skydivers Network a bit. You'll like DZ.com. There is a lot of information on this site and lots of great people. Welcome!
  4. Wow! Your 14th anniversary is July 2nd and our 24th anniversary was June 2nd. We're a month behind you and your 10 years behind us. I forgot to tell you that you should bring some bubble bath for the jacuzzi and a book to read before dinner while you sip your wine.
  5. All the stuff is now listed on the web site. There is a lot of stuff in this raffle! Many chances to win! More things will be added to this list as we get them in. AND.... You don't need to be present to win!! You can't afford not to participate in this raffle! You can support the LFL even if you can't go to the event.
  6. OK, here is where we went http://travel.yahoo.com/p-hotel-10406197-wellspring_spa_at_mt_rainier-i and I must say it was absolutely wonderful! We got a gift certificate from a friend and that is how we ended up there but even if I had to pay for it I'd do it. It was beyond romantic. I've attached a few pictures I took while we were there. The cabin came with a kitchenette so we had a beautiful private dinner with a bottle of wine we'd saved from our trip to Italy. The jacuzzi tube in the bathroom was really nice too! I can't show you the pictures from that fun. The bed is a sink and sigh feather bed. and it was really cozy with the fire going! There were wonderful trails to hike and explore and if you really want to hike, Mt Ranier is just up the road. We didn't stray too far though.
  7. John, I don't think he's looking down on you sweetie. His question was, "Is it possible?" He doesn't understand how to keep a woman satisfied for very long. Sad really.
  8. RIGHT ON!!! That is so awesome! I knew you would do fine. Keep up the good work! You're going to be one of those Tandem Masters that make a difference.
  9. I was actually next to the guy in the plane when this happened. My first instinct was to grab the pilot chute and throw him and it out the door asap! But another guy on the plane jumped in front of me and grabbed him and pulled him back into the plane before I was able to complete this. When I saw the guy was back in the plane I quickly closed the door so that if the bag dumped it wouldn't go out the door. I thought pulling him back in was a risky move but it worked. If it were me pulling the guy back in the plane I personally would have at least put my hand over the open container so that I could be assured the bag wasn't going to drop out and catch wind. This wasn't done and I still get the shivers thinking about what could have happened.
  10. I'm so glad you made it! Yeah! {{Hopping up and down whistling really loudly!}} Congrats! How was your first passenger? Did you tell him/her that they were your first?
  11. :4:0 *Did a fun 6 way *went passenger on a tandem for Tara *made a student jump with DangerRoo *went on a 17way Hybrid attempt that was funneled by stupid freeflyer that doesn't know basic RW skills. Poor JohnMitchell got knocked into next week.
  12. Oh! I have a theme on my google page so I don't see all the other stuff. I didn't even know they were doing that.
  13. They are having a BBQ Sat. night at Kapowsin too so stick around for that. If you still need a passenger let me know.
  14. In my world it's very much alive. After 24 years of marriage my husband still opens all my doors, packs my parachute, holds my umbrella, and picks flowers for me from the garden. When he's at work or not around my son does that for me.
  15. If the weather is good JohnMitchell and I will be there. I just did three tandem jumps with Jason the week before last so he could get his ticket. I could probably be talked into doing it again. It wasn't all that terrible after all.
  16. Yes I swoop down to the tandem, grab their hand and give them the thumbs up. Then I fly down and in front of them (they always look down so you have to fly a little down in front) and show them how you can do a flip, spin, barrel roll etc. Then fly back to them and give them another thumbs up. Otherwise it's boring just sitting there holding their hand. It's much better to distract them with shock and awe.
  17. Hey! I'm interested in who is in Boulder also! I have a nephew that is going to be there this summer that wants to get his A license. I'm wondering if there is anyone over there than can help him out for me. He made a Tandem with JohnMitchell last weekend while he was visiting with us. I swooped down in freefall and gave him the show. Now he's all set to keep jumping. Anyone?
  18. I've docked on three out of my four kids' tandems. Dad was their tandem master. Those are really special moments. Our other daughter will not skydive. She says "I don't want to get sucked into the vortex that is your cult." (She's made about 75 prenatal skydives and has grown up at the DZ.) In spite of that she is a great kid and on her way to college next fall.
  19. We had one and it was so wonderful and fun that we thought she needed a playmate. The second one was equally wonderful and fun and pretty much perfect so we had another one which turned out to be a boy and darling and we thought we'd even out the numbers and had a 4th which pretty much pegged our fill meter. Juggling 4 kids keeps you really, really busy! I don't blame people for not having kids. They are a lot of work and take a lot of patients time and money and broken things. Just like skydiving is not for everyone, kids aren't either. My children are the best thing I ever did and I'm really glad that I had them and they were the absolute right thing for me. I would never make someone else do it. Not everyone is cut out for that kind of work.
