I didn't miss his point I just didn't entirely agree with it. To me the only way I can let people "get away" with things is know that if they continue to do similar things eventually it will catch up them. The key word is continue. In the hypothetical scenario if it was just a guy that was normally a calm courteous driver but for some reason "snapped" or was just having a bad day (we all have those) to me that's tolerable. But I have 0 way of knowing that. My personal philosophy is most times actions aren't as important as trends. In my mind (since I have no knowledge of this person other than our one interaction) I rationalize my behavior as: * They may just be having a bad day. * If they always or routinely act like this, it will catch up to them eventually. At that point I can usually let it go. If I can't then I may confront them and become their "garbage truck."

I think you hit the nail on the head. Most biases and prejudices come from misunderstanding and bad past experiences of misunderstanding. People from different ethnic groups, cultures, backgrounds, values, beliefs, and customs will think differently. It doesn't mean anyone is "wrong" but both sides need to understand each other to communicate clearly. Of course every group also just has their assholes. I got this on MySpace today: When I first read this I was thinking that the law would be something like those that cut people off will eventually do it to a garbage truck that can't or won't stop in time and will hit them. I agree with the don't take it personally. Karma will catch up. Eventually people that treat others badly will do it to the wrong person and pay the consequences when they meet their "garbage truck." That doesn't account for people who like to browse in less than full screen mode so they can keep track of other things. For a mostly text based website, IMO 800x600 should be the standard. Either that or use dynamically sizing tables and fonts.

Sure, others may suffer, but sometimes that's what's needed to show the problem. This is one reason why conditions at most jobs are miserable because rather than let things crumble, the more burdens and idiocy that are piled on, the more we kill ourselves to make sure things get done. Complaints and problems aren't a bad thing. Most of the time they show the issues that employees have been complaining about for years yet nothing was ever done. You've got to look at it from a business owners perspective. You've got limited resources. Where do you concentrate your efforts on? The areas where you have problems that are impacting your business or the areas where your employees somehow manage to keep things running? On larger companies. it's way worse because everything is tied to numbers and stats. As long as those look good, nothing is going to change.
