  1. In that scenario Lucky and her friends would tease the girl continuously and call her a fat whore until she developed a complex and an eating disorder: the standard high school girl response. Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.
  2. I don't see why all this bickering about the loan makers and the loan takers being irresponsible is pertinent A terrible lack of judgment by the government created law that set up the whole mess - and we're bickering why the banks and the people greedily (tried to) took advantage of it? put the blame on the square marked "go" Because it's a three legged stool - the law, the lenders and the buyers. Take any of the three away and it wouldn't have happened. Mortgage defaults have occurred ever since mortgages were invented, without crashing the economy. The borrowers didn't design and build the house of cards, nor did the government. The financial wizards of Wall St. did that. The government just told them they'd cover any and all losses as they've done for big companies for years as these companies have extremely powerful lobbies. I'll admit the line between big business and big government has always been blury, moreso now. When you remove part of the risk of a risky decision, more risk is taken. The more removed, the more risk one takes. Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.
  3. Families are already at risk and will always be at risk no matter what is done. You've been told keeping drugs illegal is safer for your family and you want to do the best for your family, which is admirable, so you blindly believe that. This also explains why no matter what is said here, you won't ever change your mind. The fact is possession and distribution crimes and their effects on society (not just the "criminals" family but all) is much higher than any crimes that would be committed while under the influence of the drugs were they legal. While you may be willing to sacrifice rights and freedoms under the false guise of family safety, more and more others do not. When it happens, it will more likely be for economic reasons than moral ones, just like casino gambling has been.
  4. It's not even paper anymore, it's just data bits... Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.
  5. Fear can also causes people to think less long term and more in the moment. Particularly if that fear is of something else. "I better get and enjoy the big house now as terrorists could kill me tomorrow." Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.
  6. Night mode isn't nearly as bad but is harder. Cool idea.
  7. The problem with your logic is if the gov't controls, they don't have to ever be accountable. You can't teach it without allowing it. Sorta like the overprotective parent that never lets the child screw up. Then again, our gov't hardly holds anyone or anything accountable anymore, it mostly just writes checks. Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.
  8. One way to address problems is to provide less harmful alternatives. To do this, you have to allow people to make their own decisions as well as make them accountable for their actions. 9. agree with most of that, however, it wasn't wall street that came up with those 'insane lending practices' look to washington for that (dome like building - the one with the stripes and lightning bolts) Really? Washington came up with credit default swaps? Which act of Congress was that? Feigning ignorance??? Maybe not.......... Tell us, Marc, which act of Congress created credit default swaps? While you're about it, tell us which act of Congress forced Moody's and S&P to give AAA ratings to junk mortgage backed securities? Which act of Congress forced investment banks to buy the junk securities? Which act of Congress forced people to sign loans they couldn't afford? Non sequitur. Really? wow Yes. Joe Blow from Podunk, IA couldn't bring down the economy no matter how silly his loan app. The broker who approved his loan didn't have to, and was only enabled by the greedy investment strategies of the Wall St "experts". The CEO of AIG, OTOH, was only prevented from bringing down the economy by bailout that you and I paid for. Unless pushed by the gov who told them "if you turn down an app and you get a complaint you will not be allowed to be involved in special gov programs or allowed to merge blah blah blah". I paraphrase but that is essentially what happened But, I know you dont care...... Don't forget the part about where the gov't says it will buy and cover any bad mortgages. Plenty of blame to pass around, but without the government practically promising up front to cover any losses and following through on that after... Next time will be even worse. Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.
  10. You mean like the people that got them into this mess or let it happen? When the economy is in the toilet, bonuses aren't really needed as most aren't likely to change jobs as there is a surplus of willing workers. Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.
  11. Not if Uncle Sugar bails them out yet again. With no real consequence for failure, expect larger and larger risks. Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.
  12. You playa playa, you!! So, does this rag smell like chloroform to you?? I was referring to this sentence: Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.
  13. Bolas, In a way I agree with you. But being a bit....I don't know a dreamer?...i had hoped technology would help? I work with a lot of people via phone and internet. I don't care if they are a guy or a girl, gay or straight if they do a good job I let their boss know. And the same goes about expressing their wants in a partner. Ok she wants a tall guy who makes $500k...GREAT! But allow me to say what I want in a partner. I don't know, I guess I had thought we had evolved but i guess we are still just hairless monkeys? Maybe one day? Maybe? In business I agree that technology has helped equality. With emails and text chats, strong accents or other things aren't an issue like they once were. But the focus of a job is the work, not a personal connection. You can try for anything you want in an SO, but when you automatically eliminate people based on certain changeable physical characteristics or materialistic ones, it's sorta shallow and causes people to wonder if you only like someone's body versus the whole package and should they happen to change would that person leave them. On the flip side there are women who are fine with that but they tend to be shallow/materialistic as well. Those qualities generally aren't found in many skybabes.
  14. I don't think most made it past the first sentence... Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.
  15. Not to mention the fact that it seems a little...superficial. It reminds me of the dudes in bars who try to lure chicks with material things because that's the only thing they thing they can offer. I remember hearing of guys who would buy Mercedes, BMW, Porsche keys rings and leave them on the bar when they were out so chicks would see them and think they had a luxury car, trying to impress them. I never understodd that because if they were able to make a date and they rolled up in a Honda... WTF? "It's a loaner, my car is in the shop." "It got stolen last night so borrowing this one." The kind of chicks that would be interested in guys based off their cars prolly would fall for that a few times. Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.
  16. *ding ding ding* No more calls, folks - we have a winner! OK but hold on. Let's not pat our selves on the back. So does that mean a man is rightfully given more money at his job then his female partner because he has a dick? What does what one has between their legs have to do with how a society that values equality above all else sees them? Maybe this isn't the place for such a discussion. If so my bad I'm sorry. Thought it would be an interesting discussion. Equality? There's no equality and there never will be as we are all different. Different strengths, weaknesses, etc. Our society doesn't value equality, just likes to be perceived as it does. IMO the term equality these days tends to get thrown around when someone isn't willing to work for something. Equality=excuse. 24. That, in a nutshell, is insurance. You pay for it, use it or not, and actually hope you don't need it. When you don't need it, you're paying for care for others. When you do need it, others are paying for your care. In the long run, on average, everyone has paid for their own care. How actuarial. Until the gov't steps in and forces companies to provide x and not provide y and at the same time creates a safety net they can throw all of their unprofitable patients to. While originally, I'm sure the intentions were good in the regulations, they still have paved the road quite well. Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh.
  25. Depends on how cold it is and how much working out and toning I get done between now and then! Now when I come by the shop for a beer, are you going to tell me, "you can't have one, shouldn't you be working out?" Beer has food value. Food has no beer value. I would never tell you not to drink beer
