  3. Let me assure everyone that we are brainstorming to come up with a workable solution. I wish that separate landing areas was the easy answer but it will not eliminate all the possibilities. If you have any suggestions, I'm ready to listen. "We all used to be immortal; but then, we turned 3 years old." (anonymous) www.SkydiveLostPrairie.com

  19. "Ahhh ... it's not the local SKYDIVERS we're worried about. It's the local TEENAGERS that only come out to LP to gawk at the women, steal our beer and then pass out in the hills. " The teenager party crasher problem has been a very hard one to handle. But, this year, we have the assistance of the local Sherif's Dept. There is now government budgeting for the Alcohol Enforcement Taskforce. They specialize in trying to control underage alcohol abuse. So, there will be several uniformed and plain cloth officers attending the Boogie. They will be arresting problem people on the spot. This will become more and more effective as the word gets out that the "Party at the Boogie" can end up with a call to parents and jail time. www.SkydiveLostPrairie.com
  20. I'm posting this to clarify some mis-information. I have been getting reports that a rumor is spreading that this year is the last year that we will be hosting a Boogie at Lost Prairie and that the drop zone is closing. Let me assure you that these rumors are FALSE! We intend to continue far into the future. One of the basic ideas when this airport/skydiver community was developed in the early 1980s was that there would always be a place for jumpers to jump. We still hold that goal very high. From what I can guess, the rumors were started because one of my neighbors who has property next to the airport is selling his land. His land has nothing to do with the drop zone and any sales will not affect any drop zone/airport activities. I think that someone saw a 'for sale' sign and assumed that it was on airport property. Not. So, if you hear someone spreading the rumor, please help and set them straight. See you at the 39th Annual Boogie (and beyond), Fred DZO www.SkydiveLostPrairie.com
  21. Do you know when he started flying the Breezy and where he kept it? There's an old picture of my dad sitting at the controls of one sometime in the last half of the 70s. I wonder if it was Bob's. Bob's Breezy, N4255Y, was built in 1982. I think that Bob bought it in 1996. www.SkydiveLostPrairie.com
  22. Bob Alm is now living in the Kalispell, MT area. Known as Breezy Bob for his aircraft that he flys regularly. http://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/kitspages/breezy.php He flew it cross country to Kitty Hawk for the 100th anniversary of flight as a fund rasier for cancer research. He did it in late November; early December. Many very, very cold days. Bob once told me that one of his many first jump students was a kid named Roger Nelson. www.SkydiveLostPrairie.com

A couple days ago, we got a frantic phone call that went something like this: Caller: "Hey, I heard from a VERY RELIABLE SOURCE that 2005 would be the last LP Boogie! Say it ain't so!" When asked, they wouldn't reveal their "source". Moral: Check your sources. If you want the dates for the next twenty years, I can provide them to you. Fred For 2005, here you go: www.SkydiveLostPrairie.com

  25. Dave and I made our Gold Wings jump on the same load on April 13, 1974. Yes, we were the first in Montana to have 1000. On the load with us were Gordy Lister, Monty Pugh, Dick "Stinky" Steinke, Nancy Kraus, Dale Johnson, and Bob Murray. I worn a red, white, and blue Mini System rig with a red PC in it. See details below. Murray had a clear plastic bubble glued to the top of his helmet. In it was our dz pet white mouse, Fletcher Mousefield. Before he passed away of old age, (and was buried under the disk in the center of our pea gravel pit) he had logged dozens of jumps in the bubble. Back in those days, it was the tradition for the senior jumpers to cut the back out of the shirt that new jumpers wore on their first jump. I once again wore my "first jump shirt" on my 1000th. This time, the front of it was cut out. I still have the pieces. Dave and his brother, Nick, were my early jumpmasters. Dave had 133 jumps when I started. I still have the solid red Para-Commander that I bought new for $297.50 when I had around 60 jumps. I put over 1400 jumps on it and never had it re-lined. There were a couple other jumpers who had solid red PCs, one was Rozzo, and another was owned by a guy named Steve. I was also the first to 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, & 8000 in Montana. Toot, Toot. Don't know about 9000 though; slowing down a little. Ta, Ta. Write a book? Maybe someday. Already have a few possible titles for it though: "Dust in the Wind" (from Kansas), "Skyrockets in Flight" (from Starland Vocal Band), and my favorite, "Nothing surprises me anymore" (from 34+ years being on drop zones). www.SkydiveLostPrairie.com
