  1. Ben, We have talked. We are closer. Fred www.SkydiveLostPrairie.com
  2. Recession, what recession? I'm going skydiving ! New for 2009: Helicopter jumps. Do you have ideas to make the Boogie better? (Yes, I've already heard FREE BEER!) Raffle prizes? Goody bag at registration? Seminars? Better sunsets? What? Your thoughts please? I'm thinking about live music, DJ tunes, freefly organizers, free beer (in lower case.) Your suggestion just might make the top ten list. ------------------------------------------------------------ 42nd Annual Skydive Lost Prairie, Montana, Boogie July 25 through August 3 Skydive Lost Prairie, Inc. 4. My first jumps away from home were when Nick Tousey took a bunch of us students to a meet hosted by the Calgary Parachute Club in July, 1971. I recall that it was a grass strip that was southeast (?) of Calgary. My logbook for jumps #14 & #15 were at Barlow's Field. From a 180, CF-JVC. I heard that that plane crashed on a ferry flight to/from that DZ later on. Jumps were signed by CSPA D-67, Don Armit and D-26, Mike Hand. I still hear of Don every once in a while. I believe that Mike died of cancer many years ago. The Canada Cup at Claresholm was in August of 1983. www.SkydiveLostPrairie.com
  5. The PCs with alternating red and white gores with a blue keyhole in the back is called the CHALLENGER. Some had the red and white stabilizers while others had solid red stabilizers. www.SkydiveLostPrairie.com

  8. Yes, N64490 is the same DC-3 that crashed at Athol in April, 1980. It came over to Kalispell a couple times in the 70's. Say hello to your dad from me. www.SkydiveLostPrairie.com
  9. At its worst here, unleaded was $4.19 mid July. I thought for sure that I would see $4.89 before I saw $2.89. That's what I paid yesterday. And yes, I dropped my jump rates at SLP. www.SkydiveLostPrairie.com

  11. Thanks to everyone who signed the "Thank You" cards for Don and Ann Becker. They are the great friends and neighbors who provided us with an excellent landing area for us this year. They are some of the "behind the scenes" people who make the Boogie great. If you didn't have a chance to sign the cards or thank them personally, send me an e-mail and I will make sure that they receive your thoughts. www.SkydiveLostPrairie.com
  12. I need some help at manifest. Kelly will not be here this year so we are short handed. If you are able to help out in this area, or in the office in general, give me a call. 888-833-5867. Thanks, Fred www.SkydiveLostPrairie.com

  15. Doc, I have the Jan, 1964 issue. It is in my bound book set. I'll scan it the best I can and send it to you. I would have to look through my other library to find the single magazine. If I do, I will send you a better copy. Thanks for keeping the history alive, Fred www.SkydiveLostPrairie.com
  16. Jerry Mathers, alias, The Beaver, celebrates his 60th birthday today. I remember watching that freckle faced kid on his TV show as a kid. And, Charlie Watts of the Rollings Stones is 67 today! Rock on, not rocking chair. I'm ancient, how about you? www.SkydiveLostPrairie.com

  18. Hello Bryan and Lyn, hello all, our friends in Missouri . . . Hello to all the family. We had been watching the news closely from here at Lost Prairie . . . hoping for good news . . . but alas. We are so sorry for you pain. With this letter, we hope that you will find some comfort. Last May, we too suffered a tragic aircraft accident at our dropzone with the loss of five people. Through our tears and anguish, one thing kept us uplifted. That was, and still is, the tremendous support and love from the extended skydiving family. Shortly after the loss of our five friends in the crash of 71T, we received an outpouring of hundreds of e-mails, phone calls, and cards. Some were from friends that we had not heard from in 30+ years; others from people we did not know. And, overwhelming strength from those close at hand. We are still receiving calls and e-mails. All help to ease the pain. This support helps us to keep going. It is what makes it possible to carry on. It helps to lighten the weight of each breath. The healing process is long and seemingly unending. One step at a time; one day at a time. There will be no day when you will say, "I'm glad that's over". Healing is a lifelong event. One of the best pieces of advice that I received was to not focus on that horrible moment of the death of your loved ones. Remember and celebrate the years of love and joy that you shared with them. Their essence is in those memories and there for you always. Realize that Marnie and Jennifer died in body only. Their spirits now soar. See them in the clouds; see them in the stars. What better way to end this life then in the pursuit of passion? Celebrate the fact that they did just that. Find strength in the power of the human spirit to carry on. This earth is just a way-point along the route of existence. From Lost Prairie, to all of you, we pass on and share the positive energy that we received in our times of grief. Words cannot make the pain go away. Hold close to your hearts the love that you are feeling from those around you. You cannot change the past but you can make the future a better place to be. Rely on each other. You will find comfort and solace there. HUG YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY TODAY. TELL THEM THAT YOU LOVE THEM. THEY COULD BE GONE IN AN INSTANT. www.SkydiveLostPrairie.com
  19. There were two very similar color patterns. One was called the "psychedelic"; the other, the "Super psychedelic". I think that yours is the "Super" model. The other used the same fabric pattern but had some black gores and black stabilizers. I might be able to come up with a photo if I find the right box in the archives to open. cosmobuddy www.SkydiveLostPrairie.com

  22. Ken Spiva died 10-16-06 in the Cave Junction area. I heard of his passing when Zimmo called me with the news. -------------- Your site has some nice photos. I've been out of Ramblin' Rose. I heard Spiva died earlier this year; he was still living down in southern Oregon somewhere. JerryBaumchen www.SkydiveLostPrairie.com
  23. When you Google-Earth the Tullahoma TN Airport, yes, you can see a DC-3 parked on the ramp. And, if you look near the end of runway 36, you can also see one of the 53 Beech Starships ever built parked near a hangar, possibly the Beechcraft Heritage Museum. Not a jump plane but an interesting aircraft anyway. www.SkydiveLostPrairie.com
