Thanks to Terry and hookitt. I actually had my rigger look at the rig and give me his opinion, and he was of the same mind that you all are as well. I talked to the seller about the reserve and the conditions of purchase. He accepted and understood completely that if I was not satisfied that I could return the rig and get a full refund. You guys are awesome for giving me the details on that reserve. Holy shit, another day, and I learned something new, BONUS. I am a detail, technical kind of guy when it comes to this kind of stuff. So any information that you are willing to share I have an open mind. Actually I think my rigger gets tired of me bugging him about questions on equipment. The way I see it, the more I know, the better the decision making on my part in times of crisis or other. The reserve is the oldest part of the rig. Everything else is 98 or newer with no more than 250 jumps on it. I don't know. Even though the reserve is the least expensive part of the rig, I still would have more piece of mind if it were newer. Then again the price is right, and I could upgrade in a little while, ie within 100 jumps. I am looking at a rig from AZ that has a rascal 202 reserve. My rigger let me know that it is out of date, and is no longer produced. DOM of the reserve is 1989. I am trying to get informed on my or any other euipment to be informed. Can anyone help me with information on this brand of reserve? I appreciate the help. Well you went and done it now. As you can see from my avitar that I have a tattoo as well, and they're addicting as well. Actually the tattoo covers my upper left torso, up the arm down the back and across my chest. When I started it was a simple tribal on the face of my shoulder. NOW LOOK AT IT! Now I have to budget between my two addictions, skydiving and my tattoo. I guess having a girlfriend is completely out of the question now. Then again, maybe that's not so bad after all. 16? uh ..... I don't ...... ? I,32 years old, have 50 jumps and am just beginning in this sport. So this is an older rookie talking. You are getting ahead of yourself right now. Not only are you young, you have not made any 'real' jumps yet. I was a 'dope on a rope' for 5 jumps then to freefall. Before, during and even still I go through daily, and I mean daily training in this sport. Part of this training is knowledge of your gear and what you should and should not use. There are safety concerns, height and weight concerns, experience, skill level, abilities (either natural or not), decision making skills, and many others. It is nice you are thinking about down the road, but don't get carried away. Start the sport and see if YOU fit, before you find gear that does. I am currently looking for my first rig, and I am having a difficult time finding things. But I recommend having a veteran, or rigger help you. I have a master rigger helping me, and not only does he know a lot about equipment and what to look for, but he has networked and hears people who might be selling things. Be patient, That's my advice. Along with a lot of other stuff you probably didn't want to hear right now. Well Wendy, I am a humble intern to be honest. I do live alone, but that is simply because I only knew whuffos when I moved here. It is a modest place nothing fancy. I drive a car I bought almost two years ago for $1500 and it runs awesome. I appreciate the advice from you it helps more than you know. Ballz out! Kuper, listen to Casch and chris. I am new but in the same boat you are. I have 50+ jumps and I am at a small DZ. I have shown the verterans that I am serious about the sport, although fun is the name of the game. I ask them all the time to jump with me, and it is always no problem. They are in the sport for enjoyment, but also to pass along their expertise. Which is what I hope to be able to do someday. I also have two great friends who are at the DZ from Skydive Arizona, MArcus and Sarah. They are both young and say that they would be happing to be my docking dummy, and work with me anytime I would like. I also jump with two other novice jumpers, Preston and Oz. I try not to jump with the same person all the time. Having the ability to adapt to a different situation is great practice. I am far from even being fluid in the air, but I say "fuck it, it will come in time". Blue skies and Ballz out! hey b1jercat, there is 3 dZ's in idaho, caldwell, star and somewhere else. I jump at star, best facilities. We jump a c182 normally, but have 3 boogies a year, during the summer. the next one is at the end of September. Caldwell has a 182,402 and just recently a king air was there. It is hard to explain the atmosphere out here. Not many jumpers so by appointment is how it is done. This is why I have made a decision to go to other dZ's, that are bigger and full time, to get as much experience as possible. Don't get me wrong our DZ is fun, the people ........... great, I just want the whole experience. If you are by this way, drop in and say hi. Do a load or two, or ten! I didn't think you wanted to quit, but realize skydiving is something that cannot be explained. the whuffos are completely lost. They always will be, in life and other things.
