Corey came to Star Skydiving Center for help in pulling off this event. I am the S&TA for the DZ and I am also the individual who prepares the paperwork for the FAA in relation to demos or off-site jumps. It was interesting walking into the local FSDO and asking for permission to perform an off-DZ parachute operation, and that I could not tell him why or where it would be at that time. Hollywood needed the paperwork lickity-split, and two days to pull it off. FSDO was willing to work with me on the matter. The only reason I say this was even possible was by going to the FAA/FSDO office upon receiving my PRO rating and introducing myself to them. I also took over the paperwork to establish trust. Anyway, Corey told us this was "BLACK-OPS" "HUSH-HUSH" type a thing. He asked if I would like to be camera and jump with him. Of course I said yes, but with a bit of hesitation. At our dropzone we are fortunate to have Marcus Harris from Eloy working for the summer. Marcus and I are close friends, and have been for a few years now. So in looking at the stunt and what was to happen, the client, Corey and his business, the family, the safety of the jumpers, the fact that my name is on the FAA rules to follow, the name-sake of our dropzone and the history of who has flown and shot a skysurfer; Marcus was the best choice for the job. Bar none. I felt it best to stay on the ground and make sure that my jumpers were safe. Although I did enjoy the practice jumps that we all three had in preparation of the event. It did go well, and even with the short timeline. So Congratulations to Corey Barton, skysurfer, and Marcus Harris, freefall videographer, for making primetime must-see TV. Solid exit and clean maneuvers. And a thanks to Corey Barton for allowing us to be a part of making a dream come true for a deserving family. Thanks to the local FSDO for being understanding and not laughing at my request for a waiver with no location or reason why. I coach/instruct at SnakeRiver Skydiving, but I also jump at Skydive Idaho, that is all for me. Anyway, I would recommend either one. I would more recommend Star than Skydive Idaho though, given your numbers, and I do not know your background/training/etc., but jumping at a new DZ, just off a 4-lane freeway, with helo and plane traffic, it may be a bit overwhelming. Then again, I do not know you or your abilities. SnakeRiver Skydiving in Star has a lot of open area and a private strip for the DZ. I know Brian, the DZO at Skydive Idaho. I currently shoot tandems at SnakeRiver Skydiving. I just broke down and ordered my camera suit. Thanks to all who gave me advice and avenues to check for used camera suits. I will be seeing you at Skydive Idaho this summer if you are going to be there. Glad to have another jumper in the area. Well all of you must be coddled, I live in Idaho, Boise to be exact. I jump at two different DZ's here, and it is the best environment to jump in. One of the DZ's will have a King Air twice a month during the summer. Yes, Lost Prarie is an event, one not to be missed. Idaho, and most of the NW states provide the most of what life has to offer. All of those things that you listed and more. Don't forget kayaking, whitewater rafting, skiing, snowboarding, the only legal BASE bridge in the US. Actual #'s are 310 total, 100+ camera jumps. I jump at a 182 DZ, and tandems run the world. I noticed that if I wanted to jump I need to be versatile. I was approached by the DZO who trained me to fly camera. I asked my S&TA what he thought and we went through procedures. Camera greatly helps my RW, which is my primary discipline. Close proximity, closure and being fluid in the air. (the camera catches more than I would have ever thought) Oh, and I passed my "C" I just have not turned it in yet. I am a camera flyer in Idaho, yes Idaho. I am looking for a used camera suit. I have not had any luck yet in the classifieds or anywhere else. you know me ......... I wanna be good. I am at 118 jumps and staying consistent on the skills I learned at your camp. I know that some of the folks are thinking of coming down there this spring. Well 2 years for me too on the 18th, Scotty looks like I am in good company here. I started jumping after I got into recovery. Now, 100+ jumps and less than a year aafter starting, skydiving has given me opportunity where at one time it was non-existent.
