I voted yes, it is a big learning experience, and an awesome way to get competition experience and to see how you are doing compared to others.

I dont think any of the people in it are on dropzone.com but a bunch of the skydivers are friends from Byron. Also check out http://www.combiningtheelements.com/ More of the same extreme stuff, and the 220films guys are in there as well I think. Or at least they worked with Fusion productions.. -
From the descriptions on the Pentax website, and on Steves-digicams, this looks like a pretty good camera. 2.8fps, for 8 consecutive frames, with an optional wired cable release.. The Digital Rebel (original one) is very similar in specifications to this. 6megapixels.. 3fps for 4 consecutive frames..

Sorry guys, I had to take the link with the balloon jump photos from Eloy down. This was up for the people that I did the balloon jumps with only. Skydive Arizona still has the photos from the event, and has not given me the "all clear" to release them for public viewing. Whoever did balloon jumps with me and wants to get prints, email me and I'll send you a private URL. Thanks, Iwan

I don't think so either, there is going to be enough traffic to think about in the first place and 2 camera flyers should be more than enough.

I can't speak for Lou, but as a general statement the more you try to fly the opening, the more it will do weird things is what I've found on my canopies. I have about 1100 jumps on Sabre2s, and I'm currently loading mine pretty good (S2-135 @ 1.75 or so). What i found after jumping a Stiletto 135 for a month or two is that my openings on the Sabre2 got a lot better.. The Stiletto is also very sensitive on body position on opening. It is important to be perfectly stable on deployment, and during the opening, I hang almost limp in the harness.. and I have nice on heading openings all the time.. Think about this concept.. you're putting inputs in a canopy that is inflating, by moving your body in the harness or by pulling on risers... you're affecting how the canopy opens in a really big way.. Just my 2cts, like I said, I can't speak for Lou, I don't know what he does on opening, but I'm sure it's something similar to what I'm doing.. nothing..

The helmets are slightly overweight Mine is between 8.5 and 10 pounds, depending on what's on there. If it's vid+ stills (as in the picture) it's 8.5, if I add the flash to it, it's about 10 pounds.

that looks like editting daily videos for the Bent Prop after a couple of beers and a day of hard jumping...

I'll be there again David, I dont know how to skydive without my camera, so i might as well shoot footage for the boogie video right? Why do we need to bring editing equipment? do you want to edit the video right there? Iwan

nice video sir!! Can't wait to be out there again.. Maybe I should start looking for a job in the PHX area.. Maybe..

I agree.. I've seen the photos off that lens and there is no distortion.. The only problem with that lens I have is that it is EF-S so it will only work on the XT, and the 20D. Now that full size sensor is becoming more affordable (5D) I dont want to spend my money on EF-S lenses... other than that.. its an awesome lens. I'll get the 20mm and stay back a bit further if I dont want any distortion. That's my other thing with that lens.. it's a zoom lens, I like fixed lenses in freefall. You know me so well

Digital Photos, iPod, Internet? Get a new MacBook Pro. runs Intel, OS X and will eventually run windows apps. really nice laptop. I have a PowerBook G4 that I love, have a MacBook Pro on order (shipping in Feb). iPhoto is a great photo management package and it is FREE The current Mac can already run windows apps, but why would you even want that? There's tons of apps out there that allow you to run windows applications on the Mac already. Buy a Mac for what you want to do, seriously.. you're going to be much happier. No system updates 20 times a month cause some script kiddie managed to write another virus or malicious vbscript application that brings down your pc.. Go Mac and never look back.. Some applications might be a bit harder to find, but everything you need to do on a computer can be done on a Mac.. it will just be easier than on a PC..

Happy birthday Sean and Skystorm!!

The Sabre2 is an awesome canopy to start swooping on, no need to go to anything more aggressive. I have done my last 1300 jumps on Sabre2's (150s and 135s) and they are swoop monsters.. You're on the right path, getting canopy coaching early on will help you big time.

From a boogie "airplane availability" and planning perspective that is a good idea.. either the first load(s) in the morning, or sunset loads.. in the middle of the day is hard to get the people together.
