Who all is going up for a thursday night pre-party? I am going to be there Thursday night, so I can get an early start on Friday (have to work registration as well on Friday morning) Iwan
-
True... that's what I meant, I knew about the Otter and the Skyvan.. but what would be the mysterious specialty aircraft? And more important: Can we jump out of it
-
Sounds like we've got specialty aircraft overload then I know I am going to try to get on as many skyvan loads as possible, I love that plane! I thought Bonnie was trying to get something "really special" as well..
-
Are there any camera's onsite? ha ha, we could get updated pictures of the DZ in this thread... These work days before a Boogie are just too long.. By the way, does anybody know what the specialty aircraft is going to be at the boogie? The boogie website says : "Specialty aircraft TBA"
-
I did not take it the wrong way, no worries.. We were just happy to see another participant in the Byron Boogie! Get on a plane though, you are going to regret not coming to the bigger, better Byron Boogie
-
Updated again Looks like there is going to be a huge DZ.com party in Byron this weekend!
-
I am sure you can join the hybrid! Looking forward to seeing you in Byron! Iwan

Hmm, Several places in Holland California back to Holland United Kingdom back to California! Iwan

A trick I use to get the canopy in the bag fairly easy is to fold the top first, stick it in the bag, and then fold the bottom in. This has the same end result as when you fold it completely outside the bag, it's just easier to get it in. I had a really hard time when I just got my canopy, and someone showed me that trick, and it works for me. Iwan

I just found this website, as I wanted to read up on it a little more as well: http://precision.aerodynamics.com/psycho/psycho_pack.htm According to chopchop they hurt less it looks like they should open fairly slow. Iwan
-
Chop Chop showed me on Saturday, but I think I am going to stick to pro-packing for now. I haven't jumped it yet, but it sure looks like it is going to be nice and soft! I always roll the nose pretty good, since I want soft openings when I wear a camera. Iwan
-
Ask Joel to pack for you, I asked him for a nice soft opening a couple of weeks ago, and it was a snivel alright, over 800 feet for my canopy to open! That can't be bad for your back! I hope you get well soon! Only a couple of days to go Talk to Mad John for your 100th, he'll get something fun together. Iwan

Roy, Your claim of beeing the organizer of the hybrid dive, we should use your expertise, and organize a big hybrid at the boogie. What's the biggest hybrid done so far? Do you have any idea? I'd love to be part of that. Iwan

Deuce-San, Have you been watching Kung-Fu movies again?
-
I'll be available! I usually "hang out" in the photography forum, but I started lurking around in these as well.. ;) Glad I found it! It looks like we should be able to get a big new dropzone.com record right? Gareth offered to organize a DZ.com dive in the Events forum. Can we make that into a record attempt? Iwan

how quickly is quickly? Have you tried continuous shooting, how many pics can you take in a minute and what memory card do you have?

I know I am definitely going to try that one at a camera store somewhere. I really like the 10D (Deuce has been showing off with that one he he) but he, 500 bucks less gets me the same resolution, and general functionality! Not the speed though, but right now I am using a Rebel 2000 as well which is not a high speed camera, and that still does the trick for me. Iwan

I got it in the mail on Saturday, and I've been playing around with it a bit. What I am wondering is, should I get a different lens for my video? Right now I have a Kenko .5 but I might have to go wider to make it more in line with the Fisheye right? Any suggestions? Iwan

More experienced people might say different, but this is what I did: I bought the suit I thought I was going to need to be able to fly the range and after talking to other people what they had, and why. I figured I needed the big wings, at least that's what I got, I am heavy enough to even go fast with those, although I haven't tried the max fallrate with them yet. It will be funny the first couple of jumps, that's why you want those jumps to be with just the suit, get used to the wings, use them and find out how it acts on deployment. The wing might cover your bridle, stuff like that. Also, read this article by Quade: http://www.futurecam.com/cameraWingSetUp.html

Deuce, you're the man!! Thanks again for doing the video and stills! This pic looks good, too bad my face is all messed up, but he.. nothing that photoshop can't fix right? he he Iwan

Thanks everyone! I just ordered the Sigma 15mm, I've seen most people use that one for a 15mm compared to the Canon one. I know Martijn van Dam uses a Canon quite often, but I don't know if it is worth the extra $300 to go with Canon. Specially since this one will work on the 10D as well (and that one is in the works ;) ) Iwan
-
And talk to Deuce ;) ha ha, that's what I do. Deuce is right, working with experienced RW people does help, they tell you what they want out of the video. I was leading on the exits, but the RW god at my DZ (and Deuce's) told me to follow them off the plane, so the points that were going to be made on the hill were in the picture much better. Anyways, practice practice, and pay for your slots, offer people to fly video for them and wait untill they think its good enough (I am waiting for that one still, I've got about 30 video jumps now) Iwan

Hi, Does anyone of you use the 15mm fisheye lenses on your normal 35mm SLR camera? I know a lot of you use it on the 10D to get to a nice wide angle, but what about going to the extreme on the 35mm? Any comments? Or would that only be to get some 'fun shots' instead of nice pictures? Thanks, Iwan
