  1. Hey alls. I was just reading the hook knife thread and had a question. I didn't want to be accused of an attempted hi-jacking, so I thought I would make this. Laura and I bought Jack Knives last January from SkyKat, but I didn't realize they were so damn HUGE. I am wondering if anyone has any clever ideas on how to attach them to your rig for everyday jumping or if I'm screwed. I emailed them yesterday to see if I can return them because I just cannot find a place to put them. If you know of a good place/way to put it that isn't intrusive, please let me know how and if you could attach a picture or two, that would ROCK. Thank you all very much!!
  2. I always Psycho pack mine....I have found that with new Zero-P (21 jumps), it is damn slippery and psycho doesn't give the fabric a real chance to slide out from under me. It works really good if you're having a problem with that. I understand what you are saying about only learning the packs. I only learned Flat packing in training. That kind of sucked because I didn't know how to pack when we got our rigs. Oh well. There were tons of people at Richmond who helped us learn how to do it. In the end, most thanks to Kevin Yasuda for teaching us this psycho pack. It works so awesome! I actually packed my rig in less than 15 minutes after my last jump. That is nice to be done so quick....finally.
  3. I haven't been in this forum for awhile and didn't see the thread, but here is my take: I have 7 jumps on a Safire 189 and 21 jumps on a Safire 169. I have found, what others have said, that the end of your flare is very low. On May 4th, I did 5 jumps without any wind and I was coming in with a lot of speed. I just found that it is all about picking the right time to start and if you do it a little late, you are going to eat grass. I did that once with no wind and bodysurfed on my belly to a stop. However this past weekend, I jumped and the winds were a pretty steady 17mph or so. I came into the wind and it just stopped on a dime and was very smooth. I'll echo what others have said....I've found that you really need to just time it right since the control range is so long. Good luck!!
  4. So, while you are going over the briefing and debrief, does he charge you extra for everytime you call it "freeflying"? Apoil......how is the AFFing going down there? JumpinDuo.com...news, pictures, skydiving and links.
  5. Yeah......this happened in Austria or somewhere like that. The dad was tandem master and the mom was jumping with them. Seems the kid is destined to be a jumper. JumpinDuo.com...news, pictures, skydiving and links.
  6. This happened at our DZ to some guy from my college that was in that group that I took down. Here is the "funny" thing. He went with us on May 4, 2002 and the whole video got hosed. However, he went down the year before on May 5, 2001 and got video and the video got hosed then too!! How much bad luck is that?!? So, the DZ gave him a free video for the next jump he'll be on since the guy plans to do more and/or AFF. And, Phree....if you have someone who won't take a free tandem skydive, slap em for me once, would ya? JumpinDuo.com...news, pictures, skydiving and links.
  7. I bet that is a great view looking over the edge. Just think of all the lawyers that would be swarming around that thing like the "mother bee" was being held hostage at the top.
  8. OH yeah.....and they'll give you your domain name for free for ONE year. Not too shabby. Although if you need PHP and those other supports, Phree's will probably be better.
  9. Well, its not Canadian, but they are AWESOME: http://www.aplus.net Laura and I use them for our site and they are VERY good priced ($10 per month for 500MB, 5 POP emails, unlimited bandwidth, and CGI/Perl support) and very good customer server (i.e. very fast to help with questions toll-free for via email). If you go with them, please tell them I refered you!

Thanks for the info, DanHole. That was exactly what I was wondering. So, if I were to prepay for the tickets for a heli jump and a baloon jump, when we showed up, we should just try to sign up as soon as possible for the jump? JumpinDuo.com...news, pictures, skydiving and links.
  12. Hey Sangiro.......I use Road Runner cable internet and for the past week or so, it was REALLY taking a long time. I was actually surfing other websites on another browser while the posts loaded. Heh heh heh... But, sometime last night it really started to scream for me. I thought perhaps it was pulling pages out of the temp files! Thanks so much for the site and keep up the great work!!

I have updated the file so now those pictures are all of SlowFaller (Chris). I don't even know who that other guys was. Heh heh heh.... They were taken from VERY far away with zoom all the way in. Glad I can be of some use!

Hey Michael.......quick question: when you buy tickets for the helicopter or the hot air balloon, do you go at a certain date/time or is it not really known when? I ask because we are not going to be able to spend a lot of time there this year, but I would really like to see what it's like and experience some of the specialty aircraft. Thanks! 17. Congratulations, Molly and Bill! It is really wonderful and inspiring to see someone get tossed so off the horse and get back on. Thanks for sharing!
  18. I'm not saying that it is a ton of bandwidth. I am saying that every bit of bandwidth that is taken from Sangiro is more $$ that he has to pay to keep this place up and running. So, I am just saying that if people were to use it, it would have to access it over and over and over when they are using the IM program. But, if it does save automatically on the computer, then so be it. But I was under the impression that you just had it setup to it always referenced to that link. Just trying to save the Boss Man a little jump money.
  19. What are you talking about? It's in there. *whistles*
  20. hey guys.....if you want this, you should really save the file on your OWN COMPUTER and then go into the preferences and choose that file. When you link to a file that is on another person's server, you are "stealing" their bandwidth. That is just good net behavior. So, dont use that www.dropzone.com/....... file path for your own IM use. Save it to your computer, or if people are having trouble, I will put it on my server and you can all use it from there. I already have a lot of people profile pictures there. Let me know! Just don't steel bandwidth from Sangiro. He already pays enough for the site itself. Thanks. 21. Where is it? Not in this thread, right? JumpinDuo.com...news, pictures, skydiving and links.
  22. Well, when everyone else calls it the Frankenotter, then YES, to me, it's the Frankenotter. It still hauls ass up to altitude and it still has all of that history. And I'm sure it still has the "original" skin(s) underneith that new paint. With all things considered (its origins, its stories, its history, everyone stills calls it that), it is still the Frankenotter and always will be. 23. 3:3:3......it was a great weekend in Chicago and we made 3 jumps there. Firsts? Cross-country, first jump from the Frankenotter, first jump at Chicagoland Skydiving, and first jump in Illinois. Great weekend!! JumpinDuo.com...news, pictures, skydiving and links.
  24. Thanks Lisa! It was really fun and I really enjoyed meeting some fellow dotcommers finally! I really can't wait to meet more of you!!
