PD Factory team - new distance record!!
swoopster33 replied to Kolla's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I beleive the new rules are for the run to be official the winds must be 15 mph or less. I was told that the wind conditions at the time were about 10 to 11 mph downwind. -
new swoop pond at lake whales and colorado
swoopster33 replied to livenletfly's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I do not have any pictures yet as we are just starting construction. However, i can tell you that the pond in Colorado is diamond shaped, 369 feet at the long point and 180 feet at the other. A constant fresh water supply will piped in recirculating the water. Their will be very nice fine gravel run out area at both exit points on the 369' lane. Lyle and Vladi are designing the pond and planing a major event to be held in september of this year. (press release in skydiving magazine) Some really cool new events will be at this event. Pond will be done by our start of season, (late march) and we will have a full CPC schedule to be released soon. Come swoop at a feild elevation of 5050ft. -
Effects of altitude on swooping
swoopster33 replied to teamhypoxia's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I am glad someone asked the question. This is something that has been discussed at length by those that are organizing the competitions to be held at Mile Hi this year. (more details to follow soon) I have talked to some of the best canopy pilots in the world, and the only consistent answer i get is "we will find out". A competition at the end of the year will offer a large cash prize to anyone that can break the world distance record. Stay tuned, some very exciting anouncements about this pond and events to be held here this year are to be released soon -
Got to jump my new Velocity canopy today
swoopster33 replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Well i didn't really want to get into it this deeply, but yes my input didn't help matters. I over corrected a 180 after a very hard opening. I should have been a little more gentle... However, back to the point of canuck's post, congrats on the canopy, i will see you tomorrow. -
Got to jump my new Velocity canopy today
swoopster33 replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Glad you liked it and glad i could help. BTW, you left a little early. We went up and built a five way on that tandem - and then on opening, i had a very hard opening for a velo. (i know i told you they don't open hard,) then went 180 to the right. i got that stoped, but when she came back she went about 720 left and i was on my back and that was the end of that. Anyway, i sure am glad that pd reserves land so well. I beleive you refered to the openings as dynamic. Well said! -
The no BS Honest swooping poll
swoopster33 replied to Darius11's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Jump 369, did a 270 on a vengence 135. Broken right femur. At the time i thought i had it all figured out. Laying in the hosipital i decided to back up and start from scratch. Get coaching, and go slow. 300 ft swoops are cool but not worth the titanium they put you back together with.
