I am disgusted by the right wing conservative apologists. You worthless examples of humanity continue to support that which is morally and spiritually bankrupt. What you support and defend is that we, the USA, did violate the Geneva convention, as well as numerous other treaties, and tortured people, with approval from the highest level of our government. Have any of you dirtbags noticed that Shrub and Dick haven't done any international travel? Perhaps they know that Interpol might place them under arrest and send to the Hague for a well deserved trial. If it was good enough for Milosevic, why isn't it good enough for Shrub and Dick? The bastards need to be held accountable for their crimes. Due to you fuckwits, it won't happen in the USA. We'll have to depend on the international community to step in and handle the matter. It used to be that right wing conservatives had some idea of right and wrong. That clearly has passed.

Come you right wing conservatives, stand up and take responsibility for the outcome of the policies you support. Less government regulation is a good thing, according to your objectives. The successful outcome of that policy is lack of oversight, leading to catastrophic events. Completely predictable. Aren't you all proud of this acheivment? You all got what you supposedly want - less governmet intervention in business operations. So what if people die now and then. At least the government isn't interfering in business operations by "over regulating". -
You prove my point perfectly. You post a load of crap here and expect one line to cover you. How unchristian of you to go around picking fights. I'll bet you are in for one hell of a surprise when you pass on. I don't think god is real keen on false christians. Especially those that deride part of the population as evil, simply because of the way god made them.

That's a real nice mirror you are staring at. I could not have described the right wing conservative way of being any better. BRAVO -
The part where you keep butting in. If you want freedom from religion, don't enter the discussions. Capish? However, you cannot choose Jesus unless He first chooses you. Obviously, that interaction hasn't blossomed to full glory, yet. You posted the link to that bullshit here. Why do you post links to religious bullshit if you aren't trying to proselytize, as in, push religion on others? You deliberately pick a fight, then whine about being called on it. Brilliant... That is real christian of you.

Right wing conservative politics are the cause of BOTH issues. The connection is quite obvious. It is Bush's fault THe last major mine accident happened on Bush's watch - he was blamed this mine accident happened on Obama's watch - Bush is blamed THere's poetry in that Bush's fault? The only one who said that is Marc, who is well known to be a right wing conservative whose writings project a world view much like Lush Rimjob's view of the world. Right wingnut conservatives apparently can't tell the difference between extremely stupid sarcasm, and reality. -
QuoteI believe the point the author was making in the OP is, the anger and fear you and others are experiencing is winning out. Quote I believe that the point that the author was making is that HIS particular set of ancient superstitious beliefs is superior to all others and that ALL citizens should be subject ONLY to that set of beliefs. Freedom OF religion also includes freedom FROM religion. What part of this do you not understand?

As long as the investigations into the rent subsidies at the C street house continue, I agree. Good riddance to bad rubbish. Now there are only about 250 other Rescumlican congressional members that need to follow him out the door.

Congratulations on keeping up your credentials as a "right wing conservative". That means you are one of the ones who doesn't give a fuck about WHY mining is so dangerous. You are perfectly willing to accept that a dangerous industry can be made MUCH MORE SO by avoiding appropriate government regulation and oversight, as demonstrated by Massey Coal. Damn fucking right it is political. 29 people dying in a mine that was known to be operated dangerously, and allowed to do so due to the POLITICAL POWER of the CEO of the company. It is political, and you should be horrified You should not making excuses for the miserable pieces of shit who run that company, and the weak regulation that your kind of politicians implement when they have power. You lost a leg to politics. Have you forgotten? How about those WMDs that didn't ever exist at all? You willingly participated in a premeditated war of aggression, over something that WASN"T TRUE, were maimed for life, and still don't get it at all. It is ALL politics. The scale is what changes. Innocent victims like yourself don't matter at all to the right wing scumbags you support. You were, and are, totally expendable to them. We, the USA, killed over a million people, drove millions more into refugee camps, and established a ISLAMIC RELIGIOUS government in place of a secular dictatorship, aka, our former best friend in the area. That is one hell of an accomplishment we pulled off, isn't it? We cut taxes in a time of "war", and borrowed and spent a trillion dollars, and counting, on this excellent adventure. How much health care could have been paid for with that trillion dollars? It is all politics. Right wing sheeple can kiss my ass if you don't like having your nose rubbed in it. -
Can't even spell the name of a book whose ideas are long since disproven. Awesome... I'll bet you think the author was male, too.

2 Officers' Lawyers Want Charges Dropped
funjumper101 replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
In 1993, in a bar on Bourbon Street, in the middle of a weekday, I watched a NOPD Officer come in and stand by the cash register. The bartender was serving a drink to a customer at the other end of the bar. The cop got tired of waiting and swung his billy club from his waist (he didn't unclip it) and knocked it against the bar. The sound got the attention of the bartender, who rushed over to the cash register, rang up a "no sale" and pulled out a big handful of 20s and handed them over to the cop. The cop walked out of the bar, onto the street, and divied the money between himself and two other cops that were waiting outside. This was done in broad daylight, with no attempt to conceal anything. I was amazed. When I asked the bartender if I just saw what I thought I saw, he asked, "what did you think you saw? I told him that he had handed over a cash bribe to a cop, and that the cop had then gone and distributed the bribe to his colleagues. The bartender said "Yup, you saw what you think you saw." I asked, if the cops were really that corrupt and he said, "This heres nawlins. Things are done different here." There was plenty of reporting on the armed guards on the bridges preventing the poor black folks from leaving the city after Katrina. The white suburban police weren't about to allow those people into their towns. They were forced back at gunpoint. Reports of shots fired weren't uncommon. I am surprised that ANY cop was charged with anything, in the state of Louisiana. -
What a load of bullshit. I don't give a fuck what god you worship, what church you go to, and how much faith you place in an ancient superstitious belief system. Just don't push that crap on ME! This country is not like it was 50 years ago. The population on coasts is FAR more diverse than it was 50 years ago. There are many things that were acceptable at that time, but are no longer. Society evolves. Things change. The fact that this secular nation is becoming MORE secular is a very good thing. The last thing we should EVER accept is for ANY religion to have more influence over our citizens. The goal should be LESS AND LESS religious influence, as not everyone is "christian", and the fact that the "christian" set of beliefs is not superior to any other set of beliefs. We do NOT need a christain taliban to push their view of right and wrong onto the rest of us. I put up with a lot of crap from so called "christians" when I was growing up. My family did not attend church. Most of the people in our neighborhood were catholic. I was TOTALLY creeped out when I was about 8 years old when I figured out that the biggest deal in the catholic church was RITUAL CANNIBALISM, where they consumed the flesh and blood of Christ. I found that to be totally disgusting then, and I still do to this day. All the creepy mumbo jumbo, weird rituals, and the idea that a never married adult celibate man is in a position to give good advice to normal people is just plain NUTS. The kids in my neighborhood would NOT become altar boys, as the pervert child molestors were known to active, even that long ago. More damage has been done in the name of religion than any other root cause.

Thank God for Republican Mine Operators
funjumper101 replied to funjumper101's topic in Speakers Corner
Anyone been following the news on the coal mine explosion that has killed 25 miners for sure, likely a full total of 29 miners? The mine is operated by Massey Coal, with a President who is on the BOD of the US Chamber of Commerce. He is a leading fund raiser for the Republican party. This same CEO paid three million dollars to force out a State Supreme Court justice that would have ruled against Massey Coal. Their bought and paid for SSCJ was the deciding vote in favor of Massey coal. The same company that had one of their top executives put on the US Mine Safety board BY RECESS APPOINTMENT, by the previous administration. He couldn't get confirmed after several tries, so he got appointed. He was blocked for CAUSE, not politics. The mine is a non-union mine. Massey Coal has fought tooth and nail against unionizing any of their mines. Their safety record is among the worst in the industry. Good thing they got their folks on the safety board and minimized oversight of their operations. They get the fines reduced regularly and operate as though the fines for safety violations are simply a CODB and a hassle, instead of something that really matters. The Republican goal of minimizing regulatory intervention in business operations has been a STELLAR success, for them. Their business operations have actually killed multiple people several times in the past 30 years. Their last major fatal event was in 2006. A mine with bad ventilation caught fire and two workers burned to death. Sound familiar? It should. Bad ventilation is what caused the explosion that killed the 29 workers. Government regulation works REALLY well most of the time. You can go buy infant formula (made in the USA) and have a reasonable expectation that it is good for your kid. You can go to a lumberyard and buy structural construction materials that will have met specific engineering requirements so that what you build with these materials wil produce predictable results. You can go to any gas station anywhere and purchase fuel that will meet government standards and can be run in your car without blowing up the motor. The facts of government regulation are very much contrary to the republican mantra that started with the horrendous presidency of Ronald Reagan. That scumbag said the "The scariest words in the english language are "I'm from the government and I'm here to help". Making terrorists out of own government. Totally inexcusable. The rescums jumped on the bandwagon and we ended up in this current economic disaster because of them. The lax oversight of the mining indutry is directly responsible for the deaths of the miners. Are you Republicans all proud of yourselves? Or do you feel shame, as you should? I feel shame that we, the people, let our fellow citizens down so badly by allowing mine safety to be such a low priority. Rachel Maddow has done an excellent job of covering the back story on this. -
So, you can show the C-SPAN video where the Repubs were included in all those 'negotiations', right? Oh, I forgot - C-SPAN wasn't covering those meetings between Obama/Reid/Pelosi and the bribee-of-the-week, were they? Nevermind! It is impressive how right wing nuts consistently refuse to do any fact checking at all. One would think that Google is hard to use and that youtube is hopelessly complicated. Why don't you figure out the most detestable portions of the "health care" bill, write them down, then do a bit of research. You will find that the items which y'all are so pissed off about are actually republican ideas that ended up in the bill because the dems are spineless. Tell me, Mike, are you in favor of "pre-exisitng conditions" being a legal reason for a private health insurance company to deny care? Are you in favor of "post claim underwriting" so that when you get sick, the insurance companies can nitpick you application and cancel coverage, after the fact? How about the death panels? True or false? Sheeple, pure and simple. Why would you all be against something that is positive for MOST of the people in the USA? Because you all can't tell fact from fiction. You all never learned critical thinking skills.

Although true to avoid debating such things as healthcare by making such a statement is, at least, unacceptable. Besides, people like obama are supposed to be civil servants and to continually state you "won" is hardly in line with serving the people. Right wingnuts keep parroting the talking point "There was no debate" and "No one wanted any input from Republicans", etc, etc. It it a load of bullshit. What did the Senate waste the entire summer of 2009 doing? Negotiating healthcare, AKA, the Gang of Six. The rescums delayed and bogged down progress. We ended up with a weak bill that no one likes. The scumbag right wingnuts bitch about the mandate. You fucking IDIOTS!!!! It was a rescum idea!!! It made the bill!!! Your side got a BIG piece of what you wanted. Quit being too stupid to research the bullshit that comes from Faux News, NewsMax, etc. The bastards are lying to you, and you are eating up like kids do ice cream. The Rescumlicans have grossly misused the filibuster to stop MAJORITY RULES in the Senate. You right wing assholes!!! When will you put a stop to the gross abuse of Senate Rules? Quit the tea party childishness and deal with REAL ISSUES that are destroying the way the government is supposed to work.

Is the tuner for a diesel or gas truck? The cheap tuners for diesel trucks work, but will smoke your particulate filter, which costs over 1000.00 to replace. Go with a Banks tuner that costs $$, but does the job right. The cheap tuners for gas engines screw around with the signals from the MAF and the O2 sensors to enrich the mixture and give more power. Some work better than others. Burned valves and other issues may occur. Unless you are quite knowlegeable on these matters, don't screw around on your own or you may cause big dollar repair bills. Pay a pro to install and fine tune the install, if you want it to work right and not break stuff. Better intake and exhaust will be part of the upgrades needed for best results. Powerblock TV shows and their web site can help you a bit.

Really? Better go to the IRS site and look up the tax rate schedules. But, while we're on the subject - maybe you can tell all us ignorant plebs which is greater - 15% of 30k, or 28% of 170k? We'd really like to know the answer so we can get our tax forms filled out. Lack of reading comprehension = Right wing followers can't read and think??? Do the facts conflict with opinions expressed? You decide... Social Security Taxes. Social Security Taxes. Social Security Taxes. Social Security Taxes. Social Security Taxes. Social Security Taxes. Cap on income for Social Security Taxes. Cap on income for Social Security Taxes. Cap on income for Social Security Taxes. Cap on income for Social Security Taxes. Cap on income for Social Security Taxes. Cap on income for Social Security Taxes. Cap on income for Social Security Taxes. Cap on income for Social Security Taxes. Cap on income for Social Security Taxes. If something is repeated enough times, comprehension may set in. Bullshit items not related to issue at hand is a classic wingut technique for obscuring the FACTS and confusing the simple minded. The fact is, as a percentage of income, Social Security taxes go DOWN, once you break the 108K income cap. No matter how much you would like to obscure this FACTUAL documentation of the actual reality of the matter, it is the truth. The higher your income, the less you pay as a percentage of your income for SS taxes, once you pass the 108K income limit. No matter how much the right wing media manages to ignore the facts, it is FACT and cannot be reasonably disputed. I did not write about INCOME taxes. I wrote about SOCIAL SECURITY taxes. You know, the taxes that apply to the system that you have SO much concern about. You have so much concern that you'll bitch about it. Unfortunately, you don't have enough concern to actually support doing ANYTHING reasonable to solve the problem. I am still waiting for a reasonable explanation as to WHY you and your kind think that the uneven application of the SOCIAL SECURITY tax, in terms of percentage of income, is fair and just. Your own words, please. Why is this fair, just and reasonable?
-
You know, you run your mouth an AWFUL lot by lying about other people's views - do you always do that, or is it a recent thing for you? How else can what you wrote be interpreted? Be honest, Mike. Try to explain what you really mean, using your own words. No parroting right wing talking points.
-
The one that's now in the red... If the rescums were the party of fiscal responsibility and fairness the bastards would end the income cap on social security taxes. Not one of the right wingnuts can come up with any cogent reasoning as to why the lowest income tax payers pay on 100% of their income, while the highest income tax payers pay less and less, in terms of a percentage of income, the more they make. The same right wingnuts have gone NUTS at the use of "Majority Rules", with regard to the passage of the health care bill using rules well established in Congress. Absolutely totally pathetic. And proud of it, too.

I really don't think the average joe is just that stupid or easily lead (except in California ) I wonder if that pic had bunnies and flowers instead of circles and tees if would there be any notable difference in the response of the public towards the congressmen in this debate. People that are incensed about the issue (there are those on both sides, and they are just fanatical enough to be threatening about it and they are doing it) are likely acting like assholes anyway. And 99% of them I'd bet never even saw the graphic. Edit: That graphics scares me about as much as declaring "War on Poverty" makes me worry about people seeing that statement as a call to throw grenades into poor neighborhoods. The right wing nitwits on this forum prove that the average joe IS just that stupid and easily led. Too ignorant to vote for their own best interests and too stupid to educate themselves out of their ignorance.

The sky is falling!!! The sky is falling!!! Help me, help me!!!! The existing "healthcare" system is broken. Seriously broken. The resistance to ANY reform, no matter how small, was funded by the health care companies via the senators they own, and the astroturf organizations that the sheeple bought into. The smartest and most logical thing to do for health care is to transition to a single payer system. The end result would be an economic boom. No more being a wage slave to a job you hate, just because the benefits are really good. People who want to start businesses would have the freedom to do so, as they would not have to worry about health care for themselves and their families. Employer/employee negotations could go back to being mostly earnings based, instead of "compensation" based, as in excessive health insurance costs forcing down net income. It isn't like we aren't spending the money already. Losing 1/3 of the health insurance premiums to "overhead" isn't sustainable. What it comes down to is simple - How will the money flow? Right now, the majority of the health care $$ flows from the public, to private organizations that make take a big cut of the $$ to run themselves and provide a "good return to their investors", then the leftovers go to the medical service providers. The $$ should go straght out of pocket via taxes and go to pay the medical services providers directly via a Medicare for all system. The system exists, it works, and people understand it. Simple, straightforward, and quite doable. Get on board with single payer and maybe you might be able to start another company some day.

Tea Party protesters heckle man with Parkinson’s
funjumper101 replied to skymiles's topic in Speakers Corner
We've already done that, but evidently the Treasury is one of those RW rags that you don't give any credence to. Speaking of dribbling and not doing math (your specialty), let's do some calcs on the debt, shall we? Looking at the public debt figures from treasury direct, the Republicans under Bush increased the debt by 2.95T between Jan 2001 and Jan 2007, when they were ousted by the Democrats. Since then, the Democrats have increased the debt by 3.96T, a 134% increase in 54% of the time. Comparing the spending of the two Presidents, Obama's current increase in the debt was done in 28% of the time it took Bush to make the same increase. Obama is already at 40% of the total increase in debt of GW's 8 years. 2007? We had an election in 2006 and Obama was sworn in in 2007? Another stellar example of right wings "facts", as in. made up bullshit. Faux news is always looking for liars, I mean, content readers. Looking for a job? -
The Beginning of the Social Security Meltdown
funjumper101 replied to Gawain's topic in Speakers Corner
Too bad the right wingnuts LOVE the wealthy. The wingnuts are totally conviced that if the wealthy actually were taxed at the same rates as us peons, the sky would fall, the US economy would collapse, and the world as we know it would come to an end. The very simple and straightforward solution to the this matter is the removal of the income cap on Social Security taxes. All income, including that which is over 108,000.00 per year, should be subject to the SS tax. Right now, past 108K, no SS taxes are due. This means that the vast majority of US Citizens pay SS taxes on 100% of their income, while those that make over 108K don't. Past 108K, they are free and clear. Why don't you right wingnuts ever support tax fairness? Because it isn't presented on Faux news? -
Virginia attorney general to colleges: End gay protections

Which, of course, is why the DEMOCRATS were the ones filibustering the Equal Rights Act. MMMMMMMMmmmmmm, koolaid. Comprehension, Mike. Look up the word "progressive" in the dictionary. Look up the work "Democrat" in the dictionary. Note that the definitions are quite different. The right wing bully tactic of repeating unrelated facts as though they had a bearing on the issue at hand only works on those people who aren't real smart. That crap does not impress anyone with any intelligence. The fact that Dixiecrats filibustered civil rights legislation is actually PROVES my point, Mike. There is NO WAY anyone with a modicum of intelligence and knowlege of history could mistake a Dixiecrat for a Progressive. That shit may fly in right wingnut world. It doesn't in the real world. In right wingnut world, it must count as a BRILLIANT argument. Sounds good, but has no basis in reality at all, unless one is totally and completely ignorant of the facts and the context of historical event under discussion..
