Bible thumpers as fools? Why yes, indeed
funjumper101 replied to funjumper101's topic in Speakers Corner
In an online comments area, this exchange came up between a few folks duking it out with some nutters. Th nutters appear to have spent too much time in "christian" church as children, and never gotten over it. Begin >>> In reality, a fool IS a person who believes what someone else tell them, with NO evidence to support their claims. A fool will believe anything you tell them. An intelligent person will weigh the evidence. Very well said. This reminds me of the words of Richard Carrier: Suppose there is a God who is watching us and choosing which souls of the deceased to bring to heaven, and this god really does want only the morally good to populate heaven. He will probably select from only those who made a significant and responsible effort to discover the truth. For all others are untrustworthy, being cognitively or morally inferior, or both. They will also be less likely ever to discover and commit to true beliefs about right and wrong. That is, if they have a significant and trustworthy concern for doing right and avoiding wrong, it follows necessarily that they must have a significant and trustworthy concern for knowing right and wrong. Since this knowledge requires knowledge about many fundamental facts of the universe (such as whether there is a god), it follows necessarily that such people must have a significant and trustworthy concern for always seeking out, testing, and confirming that their beliefs about such things are probably correct. Therefore, only such people can be sufficiently moral and trustworthy to deserve a place in heaven — unless god wishes to fill heaven with the morally lazy, irresponsible, or untrustworthy. -
Sums up the facts of the matter perfectly... Begin quoted text >>> Teabaggers and Health Care Rioters. Easy to understand why these folks are so leery of public health care when you realize how obviously they've been failed by our public education system. works great. No rationing of care at all. Just go to the emergency room and all is good. There is no way that the system could be improved at all... Begin quoted text >>> Tony Andrade owes tens of thousands of dollars in medical bills, and in June he was diagnosed with bladder cancer, reports the Sacramento Bee's Bobby Caina Calvan, who is profiling him for a three-part series. Andrade is uninsured, but went to the emergency room after finding blood in his urine because he knew they would admit him. The ER diagnosed his tumor, but refused to operate. "I thought doctors were supposed to help you," he said. "I've got this tumor inside me that needs to come out, that this doctor told me needs to come out, and he's turning me away." He earns $11.50 an hour -- too much to qualify for California's version of Medicaid, but not enough to pay for his own insurance coverage. He also has diabetes, which would qualify as a pre-existing condition and make his insurance costs even higher. Andrade recently was approved for a county indigent services program, but bureaucratic problems halted his treatment briefly. In late September surgery to help prevent the spread of his tumor was finally approved, though the procedure still terrified him.

The rescums and the conservadems whine, bitch, and moan about the supposed ruinous cost of health care reform. Based upon these so called "financial principles", the scumbags have fought tooth and nail, quite successfully, against meaningful health care reform. Now the USA is going to send 30,000 additional troops to Afghanistan, and the silence from the rescums and conservadems is deafening. No new taxes have been implemented to pay for the escalation. There is no plan to implment a draft to augment the seriously depleted military forces. How come the "financial principles" count when it comes to health care, and are totally meaningless when it comes to sending troops overseas? It would seem that money is no object when it comes to war, in the values of those folks. Are those the real values of the USA? I don't think so. We need to implement a draft so that everyone in the USA is directly affected by the ongoing war/police actions that we are engaged in. The volunteer force is broken, or close to breaking. We don't have the reserves needed if something important comes up somewhere ellse in the world. We need a draft NOW to get the staffing level up to where we can maintain the presence in the two current wars, and have enough to deal with something else that could come up. The draft would be very unpopular. It might cause the leadership of the country to re-think their plans, goals, and objectives. We could go back to defending the USA and quit picking fights with other countries. Since almost none of the general US population is directly affected by the wars, they really don't give a shit. If their kids started being drafted and sent off to fight in other countries, for other countries, maybe they would start to care a bit. Why hasn't a fiscally responsible Republican introduces a bill to raise taxes to pay for the war? That would be in keeping with the values that the Republican party actually used to stand for, a very long time ago. Why hasn't a fiscally responsible conservadem introduced a bill to re-start the draft? "Sharing the burden" would be a good marketing slogan.

Open ended wars get people re-elected? Worked for GWB. One of his points for re-election in 2004 was to not change horses mid-stream and a lot of people bought it, including quite a few Democrats. Has worked for a lot of Presidents. War Presidents usually do get re-elected. People bought it because it was and is the right thing to do Gullible fucking morons bought it. Thoughtful, well informed people voted against the ruinous bastards. Issues of right and wrong were of no concern to them and their followers. ShrubCo hoodwinked the USA into initating a PREMEDITATED WAR OF AGGRESSION against a counrty that had not, did not and never would have, attacked us. Right wing useless shitbags will repeat any bullshit to cover their stupidity.

Made my day! Are you really of the opinion that the USA should place land mines on our borders? You think it is funny? You consider yourself a good Christian? It is pretty creepy that while you profess to follow the teachings of Jesus, your personal beliefs as shown in this thread and others, are truly so far from His way. You will meet your maker and have to answer for the truth of who and how you are. Best of luck with that. I would expect that hypocrites are treated quite harshly when held to account. Religious Fundamentalism, a threat abroad, a threat at home. That sums it up quite nicely.

More deception from the RW talk radio circuit
funjumper101 replied to Lucky...'s topic in Speakers Corner
Like the 'honesty' of the MSM estimating 60-70k at the 9/12 rally, for example? Like MSNBC's "Morning Meeting" today showing fake photos of Palin? I notice you're not calling THEM out... I wonder why. The 60-70k crowd estimates came from the DC Police/Fire departments. Media that has some concern for accuracy reported the crowd estimates provided by organizations that have a lot of experience in dealing with crowds in DC. Those organizations provide accurate data, based on their previous experience with small, medium, large, and massive crowds. The reporting of much higher numbers by those "news" organizations that don't have much concern for accuracy came from specious and discredited sources. Those "news" organizations refused to report the data that was provided the the DC Police/Fire departments. Instead, they took the 9/12 organizers at their word. When challenged on the facts, they came up with a "foxpert" to back up their reporting of factually incorrect information. The "foxpert" has been totally discredited, if you were to bother to look into the matter. You may choose to believe "news" organizations that report factually incorrect information. That is the defining characteristic of what passes for conservatives these days. The weirdest part, to me, is the immense pride they have in their ignorance and gullibility. Believe all the bullshit you want. Bullshit is bullshit, no matter how much you wish it to be true. Ignorance is bliss. A good portion of the country leads an extremely blissful existance. -
It makes sense to the ignorant right wing morons who read Faux News, apparently. For those of us in the real world, it is the usual Faux News crock of useless partisan bullshit. The ignorant pinheads that fall for Faux Spews are the Village Idiots. You don't modify society to please the Village Idiots. You ignore them and move on.

Looks Like ANY Public Option is DOA YES!!!
funjumper101 replied to rushmc's topic in Speakers Corner
Screw the filibuster. The Rs couldn't keep it going for long, even if they tried. The Dems had better ram it through via reconciliation, just like the disasterous ShrubCo tax cuts were rammed through. 51 votes is all it takes. The chickenshit Dem leadership had better not blink on this one, or we're all fucked. The Rescumlicans who say crap like "There has never been a tax bill this big that didn't pass with 60 votes" are lying shitweasels. The sheeple that are stupid enough to believe the lies are Village Idiots. Time for the Rs to get the fuck out of the way so that the will of the people is carried out. The public option is the only practical way to force costs down. Even the dumb asses are starting to catch on to the truth. The polls are clear. The will of the people is a strong public option. -
86 yr old WWII veteran speaks about gay marriage
funjumper101 replied to SpeedRacer's topic in Speakers Corner
Good points if your are a totally blind and committed bigot against people who are biologically different, sexually. Your bigotry is exactly the same if it was directed at people who have blue eyes. It is how they are made. It is natural for them to be the way they are. The concept of un-naturalness and abnormal for a normal variant of animal behavior is a construct of society that has no basis in scientific fact. Get over it already. Failing to see the connection between the bullshit slung by VIs in the past, regarding interracial marriage and the prevention of womens suffrage, is a manifestation of moral and spiritual blindness of the conservatives. They just can't get past their entrenched beliefs, even when, in their own words, they know that they are wrong. Right wing village idiots simply do not comprehend progressive thinking. That shit don't make sense to them at all... Another right wing VI chimes in about how the original VI is correct, without actually reading and understanding the writings of same. Same bullshit lack of thinking process, same stupid VI spew, different VI. You folks are disgusting. Go listen to the man's words, as he spoke them. Try to widen your narrow closed little minds a small amount. Just like interracial marriage and women's suffrage, the change WILL happen and society will be the better for it. As usual, the conservatives are in the way of societal progress. These are the same assholes that hate Medicare and prevented it from happening until 1965. -

Go listen to the man's words as he spoke them. They are far more meaningful than a transcript. Funny how the anti gay marriage righties haven't had anything to say in this thread. I hope that they are coming to the realization that they are on the wrong side of this civil rights issue, thus the silence. -
Are you an American or a republican? That is the question.
funjumper101 replied to Darius11's topic in Speakers Corner
When it comes to vileness, this repetition of Rescumlican bullshit really takes the cake. You definitely answered the question. You are a Republican before you are an American. -
Insurance is a Product sold by Private Companies. Somewhere along the line, People began to think they have a god given right to this product. They DONT!!! They have no more right these companies products as they do to any other companies products. Yes, I would like to see a Public option available people that can not get Insurance elsewhere. It is wrong to Force a private business to sell a product they don't want to sell. A product they feel they will loose money on. Does the principle of "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness" mean anything to you? Does the principle of "fair and equal treatment for all" mean anything to you? At what point do the rights of a "private business" that is selling a service to the public end? When the owners decide that they will require you to use a different entrance, and certain areas of the establishment, due to the color of your skin? When the owners decide that they will not sell their products to people who can't prove US citizenship? When the owners decide that due to previous events in your life, they won't do business with you now, even though you had no control over those events? Like being raped, for example? Or hit by a car when riding a bicycle when you were 12? When does the government have the responsibility to step in and make the rules fair and balanced? In my opinion, at this point in the history of the USA, providing a basic level of health care to all, actually is a societal responsibility, not an option. The horror show that is the current system is totally broken and cannot be sustained. To start with, private health insurers must be forced to become non-profit organizations. No other first world country allows for-profit health insurance companies to operate. NONE. Just for the record, if the person in the story was to come down with AIDS and required treatment, who should pay for it? If it was your wife, your sister, or your mother, does that change your answer?
-
The "intent to sway opinion" is a correct conclusion. Why is it a bad thing that the stories formerly NOT covered by any form of mainstream media are now being covered? Do you have a problem with the with the exposure of "the usual tactics", when it comes to insurance companies and their business methodology? Is your preference that these facts should continue to be withheld from the public knowlege? Does this new information outrage you? Why not? Is there something rotten in the "health insurance industry"? It is time for thr USA to join the rest of the first world and move to single payer. Sooner than later. Losing 30-40% of revenue to administrative costs, excessive compensation for insurance industry executives, and profits for shareholders is not working out for us, the people of the USA. There is no logical argument that the situation is fine as it is. Major reform is needed. Lets not screw around with tiny steps that do nothing meaningful. Single payer NOW.

funjumper101 replied to Darius11's topic in Speakers Corner
In other words, you can spew reich wing talking points without any comprehension of what they mean. When agressively challenged to back up your words, you retreat into "you're being mean to me", and write about how HURT your feelings are. I ask again, what are these so called "founding principles" that the reich wing is defending? If you know, answer the question. You don't, so STFU and get out of the way of meaningful reform of a horrible situation brought about by Rescumlicans. -
. I'm off today and the weather is crappy, so here I am on Al Gore's internet... Reich wing ignorance, in all its glory. Why don't you look up the facts as to Al Gore's participation in the commercialization of the Internet and get back to us? It will never happen, because it is eay to be ignorant and opinionated in ones ignorance. It is much more challenging to to be educated and well informed. Smart folks don't fall for the bullshit you repeat.

The proposal is a complete violation of the so called "core principles" of the reich wing. A massive giveaway to the insurance companies, a huge burden of bookkeeping for the IRS and the individual taxpayers, and all around bend us over frontwards so we can keep taking it in the ass. Nicely done. A completely bureaucratic and onerous approach to the issue. I thought that reich wingers believed in minimal governmant mandates. Nice to see that that only applies now and then. The real answer is a single payer system. The strongest western economies have it, in one form or another. Gone is the burden of "pre-existing conditions". Gone is the fear of bankruptcy due to medical bills. Gone is the lack of job mobility due to health insurance issues. Gone is the un-equal playing field when it comes to insurance for small businesses. Gone is the LOSS OF ONE THIRD OF THE MONEY spent on health care that goes to to enrich the executives and stockholders in corporate insurance companies, as well as administrative overhead. The dirtbag Reagan signed into law that which allowed health insurance companies to become FOR PROFIT organizations. That has worked out really well for the average citizen, hasn't it? War on the middle class, executed to perfection. Reich wingers are PROUD of that president. Creepy, isn't it? The Rescumlicans have fought tooth and nail against Medicare. They delayed the start by more than 20 years. You ignorant reich wingers might have a shred of credibility if you had even a remote understanding of the facts of the history of the health care issue. You don't, so take a big heaping helping of SHUT THE FUCK UP, and get out of the way. As much as the reich wingers HATE medicare, they sure seem to like it a lot for something they fought against so hard, for so long. You all still fuck it up when you get the chance. The ShrubCo reforms that created the "donut hole" is a perfect example. I am sure that you are very proud of that accomplishment. It didn't hurt anyone except those that really needed the assistance. Pretty much like all reich wing accomplishments. Stomp on those that are most vulnerable. Enrich the rich even more. They sell the "vision" to the nitwits like laundry soap. Single payer NOW! The time has come for the USA to join the rest of the first world.

[replyYes, The right is worried and afraid as they feel their core principals (And the core Principals that this nation was founded on) are threatened. Quote What exactly are these "core principals" that the nation was founded on? Start with not being a VI and use the correct word - Principles Principals run schools, RMOG. The scum that is the reich wing has no idea what principles are. They have proved it over and over again since the Reagan war on the middle class. That very successful war that has put us where we are today. Principles like what? Show me where any of that shit actually applies to the actions of the reich wing, and the sheeple that go along with them. I see NONE of that from the righty scumbags. Nothing. You morons are fed a line of crap by the corporate media, and fall for it hook, line, and sinker. Stinking sheeple, gullible to the core. Not a shred of critical thinking skills at all. Village Idiots whose opinions are venal and selfish to the core. No concept of the greater good and fair play. What principles? The reich wing has none. -

Bump to counteract an incrediby STUPID proposal from some asshole who thinks Dick Armey has something productive to contribute. -
I read the so called "proposal". I completely understand it. It is a pathetic piece of shit. It is time for the USA to join the rest of the civilzed world. Screw the right wing shitheads that are too ignorant to know what is working well for the rest of the world. I don't want a half baked, cockamamie contraption of bullshit. SINGLE PAYER NOW!! BTW, my IQ is in excess of 140. It takes me very little time for me to read and comprehend COMPLETE BULLSHIT!!
-
I think that's a terrible proposal. Why do conservative idiots continue to support private businesses making tons of money off of people's suffering? It is time for the USA to join the rest of the civilized world and move to single payer health care. The USA is the laughingstock of the world for the astounding ignorance and gullibility of its citizens. It takes a reallly ignorant imbecile to support the status quo, with a few minor variations. Single payer, like the rest of the civilized world. Medicare for all. It can and will work, if we, the people, make it so.

Blithering ignorance regarding current events in no excuse for spewing bullshit. Read up on current events before posting outright lies. Iran has been caught with an un-authorized processing plant. A US led group of countries met with Iran and forced them to agree to on site inspection. FAR BETTER results than anything that ShrubCo accomplished. Actual progress on a key de-stabilizing issue in the Middle East, with more to come. The Nobel Committee is composed of intelligent, educated people who have traveled the world. Not a pack of ignorant dumbasses who speak only one language. Those folks made a great pick, unless you are a right wing America hater, aka, Republican. -

So I take it that you hate the 40 hour work week, paid overtime, civil rights, the ability to join a union, paid holidays, and all that other offensive liberal crap that has taken over? If you slam "Liberals", you are slamming that which has been of great benefit to you and yours. If you listen to the drug addled gasbag, you hate liberals, because you are REALLY stupid and easily led. That would be the same as being Republican. Thanks for hating the best the USA has to offer. Allow me to point out the obvious - NOT A SINGLE POSTIVE CHANGE has ever come about due to conservative philosopy. Lots of postive change has been blocked or delayed by the moron bastard shitheads who call themselves "conservative". NO POSTITIVE CHANGE HAS EVER HAPPENED DUE TO CONSERVATIVE PHILOSOPHY. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Crawl back under your rocks and stay the fuck out of the way. -
The VI is posting a load of crap. Move along, nothing useful here.
