    Netsky Worm

Recieved 3 of these today... Subject line/message body; lilovejesus.net (edit) (snopes link; http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/netsky.asp) Norton detected, failed repair, & quarrantined... I deleted. Clean machine!!! (except for Alexa & 3 cookies - any help?) D
  2. "I have been jumping a kill line for like 2000+ jumps and still check the window and do inflation tests before packing it up, etc. etc. " If it wasn't for this feature I wouldn't use a kill line at all... I'm wondering how many times people have found that their PCs have come 'un-set' after putting the canopy in the bag? D
  3. "Choices choices choices choices! " "...Skybytch wrote and said that choosing a canopy is pretty much an individual thing, " Once you decide on which fits you best... (9cell or 7cell) - you're half way home... The folks at Deland will surely be able to help you with this choice. (Be sure & post review of your camp) Sugestion; I notice you only have one 7cell listed - If you get a chance to jump a mk5 Triathlon..Take it. (I love mine) Lu7k, D
  4. Nan Woods (see; 1st 60way-life mag) used to say; "I like skydiving too much to kill myself doing crew". (Pretty much sums up my current outlook) I'm afraid the part of my profile that is not 'high speed' lies between the "full face & the booties "Last time we jumped there was at Lexington before than Edgerton Ks with Ka -Mo skydivers. I assume the metro plex has already gotten to Edgerton by now." (1980/1st at Prairie Lake, to Hinkley & Sandwich to KC in 1988 at MRVS Lexington). At that time I believe Wellsville (Edgerton) was still open, but I could never get hooked up there. They ceased operations at about that time. Metro is south of Olathe, but not to Edgerton yet. I am not familiar with KA-MO, but I notice Tommie mentions KAMO on the MRVS site; http://www.skydivemrvs.com/index.html Washington is beautiful, & from what I hear has some great DZs...How sweet it must be! Lu7k, D
  5. Had b-12s on my first, (Billy Bookman)(sp), rig... I still miss em... "you can still look hi speed" bwaaaahahaha! (The days of my "high speed look" are over, I'm afraid... But thanks for the tip; "They might limit you if you want to do crw" I always wanted to try it... never thought about the lines hangin on B-12s Good to hear from you, Blahr, & everyone else. Thanks for sharing your experience! Lu7k, D
  6. Thanks everyone... It is the user - not so much the Kill line PC itself I'm concerned about... will spring for or standard, or sew PC & see how it goes... "That little extra forward speed on final approach translated into a more aggressive flare and softer landings - for my old knees." I am guessing there is a trade off here, (idiot proof openings for somewhat diminished flare) Do you advise starting flare slightly higher? Thanks, D PS/ Slug - We seem to have similar mind sets... If & when I order a new VIII it will have B-12s
  7. I must be getting old... After 12 yrs out of the sport, & a whooping 7 jumps under my belt...(since returning)... I'm amazed by the new technology... Loving the ZP...(not the packing)... But, this kill line PC is makin me nervous... Seems like an unnecessary pitfall to me.. (My landing speeds are plenty fast for me & the last thing I want to experience is a PC in tow) Soo.. I'm wondering, has anybody out there changed to a standard, (No kill) PC? And, or, what effect does such a change have on flare, etc? Thanks, D
  8. Chad, Glad to hear you didn't break anything... (I've had 1 compression fracture - 1 herniated disk) (not jump related) Sounds like you're up and around today, without too much pain, which makes all the difference! If you should experience persistant pain...don't hesitate to get an MRI. Keep us posted. Lu7k, D
  9. "North x Wells"... THAT brings back some memories... Anything left of 'Old Town? D
  10. On closer inspection... "ya gott'a like that" I agree..nice cones! D

    Hormel hell

quote; Does it have anything to do with the decreasing pressure at altitude? -------------------------------------------------------- BINGO! --------------------------------------------------------- PS; The paint on this particular Cessna (a 195 w/ 3blade float prop I think)... mysteriously started peeling off...a short time later.. True - I Swear!

  13. (note to Ivan: this is a; Funny, OLD, SKYDIVING, story...) (w/moral) Takes place in mid-west, I'm gonna say..early-80s... (Preface: In my mis-spent youth I had a history of, shall we say, NOT getting along with law enforcement officers) Sooo.. Probably mid to late-mornin I roll into the DZ, hot to make a load, & you guessed it... the only jumpers not manifested are 3 cops; two patrolmen, and a guy from the organized crime squad. %#*!... Oh what the hell... (I'm so horny for a jump, I'd jump with a blind water buffalo) Put me down!...we dirt dive & head for the Cessna... (I'm think'n I'm pretty slick grabbing last out for a little extra swoop time) so I jump in the back... It's about 90-100 degrees and the pilot won't move the plane until the door is closed. When I ask if he could please open the window, he replies, no - it's against the regs. Sooo...we finally get off the ground, and just when things are starting to cool off a little...of course... patrolman 'A' farts... Now, this is NOT your average, make your eyes water, gag, & puke fart,.. this thing made my hair fall out!... Soo.. there I am (wondering if I could squeeze out the baggage door if I took my rig off), the pilot won't open the window, & I can't get to it... and these asshats are laughing their their cajones off! Right there & then, I swore, these %#!*#$'s are gonna PAY!!!...& the wheels started to turn... (Was the only way I could keep my sanity) Sooo... (finally), as I go out the door it hits me... hehehe...hehehe...hehehe... (I remembered the candy machine)... The candy machine!?, you might ask... First of all, to understand the depth of the genius and amount of courage behind this brainstorm, you have to remember, it's July or August, 90-100 degrees, in the middle of nowhere, and the DZ is, basically an un-airconditioned steel barn. In this barn is the candy machine, & in the candy machine are...among the Snickers and Almond Joys...cans of Hormel Chili. I'd always wondered who would be stupid enough to eat a can of Hormel chili out of a candy machine... (In years I'd never seen anybody do it, so I knew they had been in there for..quite some time) The only question was... would I survive? Didn't matter... they had to PAY. Soo...I spin it down, (beating them to the ground), Manifest the same load again, & head for the 'candy machine', choke down two cans & pack... dirt dive & head for the plane.. (hehehe), only this time I'm spot & hang..(hehehe) Soo.. I give the pilot one last chance to make good & ask him if I can leave the door open til we get to the end of the runway - He gives me the 'against the regs' line again & seals his fate. (hehehe) We are over the NIU dorms at about 3500 when it happened...(see attachment for illustration) Funny thing, NOBODY (but your's truly), was laughing. As a matter of fact, they actually tried to throw me out of the plane! (If you can imagine trying to push a cat out of a cessna window, I think you get the picture) Those 12 story buildings now looked 2000 ft tall. I always wondered what the 'regs' say about that. Moral; Anyway, by the time we got to the bar that night, we were all good friends, & I was later invited to jump on the 'Chicago Flying Knights' demo team. I have never looked at 'Cops' quite the same. D Credits; I would like to thank Chad, who graciously allowed me to use his avitar for this post
  14. This is what I meant by matching panels... didn't bother to change files, so quality sucks, but I think you get the idea... ( a little shakey today ) lu7k D
  15. There's that... Also I'm wondering what's happenning to my pack job inside, when I pull the tails accross each other. (Instead of rolling em) As it is ... I KNOW it's not ending up in the bag the way I flaked, tucked & rolled it. There's always upsizing the container... (I guess) D
  16. Country , I gotta ask... where is the canopy designer from? I didn't find it at Aerodyne or ParaGear... D
  17. I GIVE UP ! ------------------------------------------- BOTTOM ------------------------------------------------- With 3 colors... I'd match the panels though........
  18. Reading about your day... Random acks of kindness rock!!! D

I give up! Thanks Mike... D
  20. My tri 190 has the same colors in it ... its the 5.0 (Aerodyne's new zp)... so the colors in this jpg may be closer to 'actual'... You can open in PS / use the clone stamp tool to move the colors around...then save as a copy in jpg (small file & crop [if need be] to post) Some what tedious but more accurate color... (will post example by week end) D edit; After 1 hr I am not having much luck, will try again later, or pm. edit II; Your Green is not the same as mine ( is yours neon?) perhaps you could create an accurate palette by scanning swatches? (I've lost track of mine)
  21. "get it into the d-bag halfway, let the locking stows do the rest of the work." ----------------------------------------------------------- ...using a pull up chord through those small rubber bands, Like you would with your closing loop... (of course your sanity will be riding on the strength of that rubber band though) seriously considering the Psycho pack myself... Thanks for the link Conway!
