  1. Yeh, that just reminded me in high school once a group of us were walking through the hall and all started choking and coughing. Once we got through that area somebody else said that some pepper spray had been used there like 20 minutes ago. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  2. I don't think that's crazy. But then again when I was a little kid I fired a cap gun next to my ears because I thought that it would make them "stronger". WHAT? www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  3. None are a bad idea, but IMO #3 is the easiest and most important of the 3 you listed. There's no need to fix a problem that's not there, if you're not getting linetwists with what you have then don't change it; on the other hand, if you will feel better getting it done... it can't hurt. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  4. With a pretty high level of certainty, I can say that Z-Flock 4.0 (probably in March or April) will be the biggest event in USA in 2008. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  5. If the challenge is to see who can go the shortest distance before whining that his arms hurt, I would like to volunteer. I think Omar may beat even me though. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  6. I don't think we have any evidence that the OP is rushing things. He just asked a question and has an empty profile, as far as I can tell. I had 400 jumps and I still did something stupid, focused on the camera too much, landed off in really gusty winds behind a treeline and almost landed on a 3 foot wooden pole in some farm field that would have literally ripped me a new asshole. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  7. You sir, are pure evil. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  8. Find a cave which starts at the top of a mountain and comes out further below. Wear headlamp. You figure out the rest. Or you could just do it in the dark, but then there'd be no video. Fantastic video, of course, James. I would love to do that one day, but as Jarno said, I would require an immense amount of experience I don't have to even work my way up to such a thing. So I won't pretend I'm gonna come see you anytime soon and just step off a cliff and do the same thing. Maybe in a few years. I think if I lived in Europe I'd already be BASE jumping, but I really have no attraction to the local options here: trespassing for a subterminal antenna jump, and traveling every single time I want to do a real earth jump. One thing that has always scared me about terrain flying: what if a seam on the wingsuit blows out? It seems unlikely, but not impossible. Thoughts? www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  9. I'm 195 out the door, 6' tall. With my S3, when I was more current my best ever was 36mph averaged for about a minute. I could hit 40mph sustained regularly. BUT my best entire jump average was 47mph as I had no endurance. By 2.5 minutes I was usually up to low 50's, and I never did break 3 minutes. I haven't tried something like this in years though. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  10. I can't imagine such a thing. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

    Prodigy

I've jumped a Prodigy exactly once, a long time ago... I just pulled the Paralog and while I averaged around 70mph for the dive, I had a 20 second section of steady 50-55mph flight. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  12. What a coincidence, I'm also more experienced now than I've ever been before! www.WingsuitPhotos.com

To find the sweat spot you must wear an all black suit on a very hot and humid day. Walk around on the tarmac for at least 20 minutes before the plane arrives. Before long, you will be sweating profusely. Seriously though, this is going to be entirely dependent on weight and body type, and with all the variables the problem is still way too complex to get any reliable answer here. If you can really control your fallrate that precisely, then here is a simple experiment you can perform to find the answer on your own: Do a flight at exactly 40mph. Do a flight at exactly 45mph. Do a flight at exactly 50mph. Do a flight at exactly 55mph. Do a flight at exactly 60mph. Etc. Wear GPS on all flights and compare results. Go through your data and make a graph of your glide ratio vs your fallrate. When you're done with that, throw it away because it's meaningless. Just as there are too many variables to analyze, there are too many to control during the jump. Add to that the fact that I can fall 60mph STRAIGHT DOWN or I can fly very fast forward at 60mph fallrate, and you realize that there is no direct correlation between fallrate and glide ratio only. Whatever your max glide ratio is, you may be able to get it at 2 entirely different fallrates, and even everything in between with different body positions. With an airplane with only flaps for control it's a different picture... but we have too much surface area we are able to move. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  14. I'd rather have the XTi than the 40D (for skydiving at least). And I'm even more interested in whatever follows the XTi. XTi^2? www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  15. it appears that it is likely to cost a bit under $8000... $7999 According to dpreview... He said he DIDN'T want to know. And I'm pretty sure the OP meant to title the post: "Dear Lord... ... ... ... please let me have one of these" www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  16. Ok, I thought about it some more and this video definitely has some serious philosophical undertones, for those who don't know French at least. I had to ask myself, why is it that I root for the red guy even when I don't know if he is the good guy (since I don't know French)? Then I realized, it's one man fighting the system. That will always get my vote. Perhaps the authors are trying to point out (to those who don't know French) that the concepts of "good" and "evil" as we know them are purely illusion. All that really exists is "you" and "them." This is some deep stuff. "Red Medusa" and "Giant Yellow Swarm". Yup, that pretty much sums up the essence of life. Deep stuff. For those that don't know French. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  17. Holy cow that is the coolest thing I've seen all day. Is it bad that I'm more interested in the incredibly complex storyline than the actual footage? So many mysteries, so many questions. I wish I knew French. All I can figure: Red = evil Yellow = good Or is it? Maybe it's the other way around. All I know is I'm rooting for the red guy, whether he's good or evil. Go Medusa! I think the wingsuit scenes were also the most "interactive"... the only ones where the pursuers actually made contact with the guy they were chasing. That was hilarious how he blew the yellow guys off. We need to have some of that action at Flock & Dock. Burble Mike? www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  18. That might be true with really primitive optical mice, but in the past two years I've never encountered that. The mouse I have now is a mid-grade Logitech and I can run it over ANYTHING, literally with smooth cursor output. I had my computer on the floor once and was running the mouse on CARPET. I can run it over my arm or hardwood or a mousepad with crazy patterns.... same result. Occam says: If mouse goes crazy, get new mouse. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  19. Alright, I filled it out and now it says I'm getting some gear in a few weeks. Cool! www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  20. And I find it funny that Terry refers to himself in 3rd person in his post. I didn't even realize it was him either... good thing because I lost his email address and I have a question I've been needing to ask him. Bryan, I would be careful with #4 nylon screws. Even stainless #4's are pretty damn weak. If you so much as bump that helmet the wrong way those screws may perform their "break job" prematurely. I'd go with #6's if I were you. Btw... the "32" in "5/32 hole" is part of a fraction, or .156" diameter. the "32" in a "6-32 screw" means 32 threads per inch. The 6 refers to #6 which is code for .138" diameter. I doubt he said to drill a 6/32 hole because there'd be no reason not to say 3/16 if that was the case. Plus that would be a huge hole (.188") for a #6 screw. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  21. Bryan, what exactly do you mean by 5/32? I've never heard of a 5/32 screw thread, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. What is the thread OD and the TPI? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

  23. Nice. Unique angle on the deployment shots. I hope you got a decent payment from McDonald's... don't give them your stuff for free, and make sure you know exactly where/how they'll be using it. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
