There's nothing common or sensible about people falling from the sky. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I'm still confused... I'm assuming "airdrop deployment" means dropping things that aren't people. So why use a high performance wing? Why not just use a good old round? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I was under the impression that this was out of the question... the more cells and lines you get the riskier it is to freefall deploy it. How does this work? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Anybody know of a surfing forum as populated as DZ.com? I searched and found a few that look to have a pretty small member base and infrequent activity. The nice thing about DZ.com is it's huge and you can ask a question and get a good reply quickly. I have a surfing question and need a good forum to ask it in. Being that surfing's a much larger sport than skydiving, I'd think this wouldn't be too hard... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Nice jump number. I did my first BM jump on like 192 I think, then cutaway from linetwists on 210 and reserve opening hurt my back since I left my leg wing a bit opening between handles. Should be jumping again within a few more weeks... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

That's low. Over water? Land in the water? I've jumped a 75ft span. Without a parachute. Just jumped feet first and got wet. :) www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Let me preface this by saying that I'm a skydiver with no BASE jumps. I can see the reasoning behind S first. Care to explain the reasoning behind the order A E B? In some ways all of those are very similar (180 degrees behind you is a wall), but I guess on an antenna that wall is skinnier, if that helps. And I could see putting B last just because in the real world, B's I would imagine are hardest to access and offer least in the choice of landing areas. But fundamentally a A, E, or B in the middle of the desert would be the same jumping experience, no? I plan to jump someday and will probably just go S E. Because of a gov't job, I'm not trespassing an A or B anytime soon... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Not your own feelings, if you refuse to let it. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

How can someone else's actions change the "feeling" skydiving gives you? Nothing has changed about the physical act... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Awesome movie. Two of my favorite quotes come from it: #1 "Go suck a fuck." "How exactly does one suck a fuck?" (not sure I quoted that one perfect) #2 "Why are you always wearing that stupid rabbit suit?" "Why do you wear that stupid MAN suit?" Neither is funny unless you've seen the movie and remember the context... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Interesting comment. With the name DrunkMonkey, you are, of course, free of the drug alchohol also I guess. You beat me to it. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

This from someone whose forum name is a reference to a (legal) drug. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I just thought it was funny you said that since people often say Point Break turned them onto skydiving, and I have a vivid memory of the scene where Keanu goes into a surf shop to buy a board and there's a 12 year old kid at the counter who says "surfing's the source, man, it will change your life for sure." The kid also says "you're never too old to start." So go get your board duuuude. I'm going on a surf trip to Costa Rica in 2 months. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

According to Point Break, surfing is the source. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Happiness, companionship, a life free of worries... the things we all think money can buy. Go ahead and call it cheesy. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I've talked to people who work at SkyVenture Orlando and they've often said the majority of their time is sold to skydivers... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

When you say shoulders forward, do you mean similar to a "shrug" motion? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I'll also admit that not only does flying palms down take less energy, it also feels cooler (I'm thinking of tracking here, the few BM jumps I've done have been "palms in"). But when you think about it, palms in seems to allow the most lateral range of wing control... when your palms are down your elbows are now unable to change the profile of the wing as effectively, so I think palms in might be the best for control, even if it does take more strength - we'll just have to get stronger. :) The above is the opinion of a very inexperienced wingsuit pilot. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Umm, is this a typo or are you bringing BASE into my skydiving thread? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Under "General Recommendations", not sure if it is a RULE or not. A license - 60 days. B license - 90 days. C& D license - 120 days. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I tried making an option "my name is Ari the big bi-atch who skydives all day every day and flies in the tunnel when you're sleeping" but it didn't work. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Man, I am so busted. I really didn't know Cordura was nylon. Apparently *I* learned something new today. Thanks, BYTCH. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

My container's not made of nylon. Sorry Lisa, just wanted to nitpick. Good points otherwise. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

My first poll. Got your right here. Edited to remove redundant "poll" in subject. I've seen similar polls (out of date reserves comes to mind) relating to what could arguably be called safety "ethics", i.e. "is it ok to break this rule?" Unlike reserve packing data, currency doesn't seem to be too strictly policed at the several DZ's I've jumped at. In fact, I've never been asked if I'm current and I've gone more than 90 days between visits to the same DZ I think (although I was current from jumping at other places, from the DZ in question's perspective I should have at least looked uncurrent and been asked for logbook). I'm not by any means asking if it's "ok" to break the currency rules, I'm just curious if its done often. I've often talked to experienced jumpers (1000+ jumps) who talk about taking a 1 year break and then coming back... I always wonder whether or not they actually went up with an instructor. If I'm not mistaken the most lenient currency requirement is 6 months, for a D, correct? And I don't mean to imply by my poll options that 1000 is a magic number... I just had a limited numer of choices and wanted to draw a line somewhere. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
