  1. Nice. Some funny comments on the video from people who don't understand freediving or simple physics. Now they need to incorporate one of these suits into "subsurfing," although I think the drag may be too much. [inline subsurf.jpg] www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  2. If the people who wrote that article think that putting together an IKEA kit is "DIY", and somehow can't accomplish that task without it coming out crooked, then they should not attempt any of the things that Kallend does for fun or cash.

The nerve of some people... writing free software and trying to help you use it. Where do they get off? Ridiculous indeed. If you put 1/1000 of the effort that the developer put into making the software, into explaining your issue with the software, perhaps he could continue forward on his noble quest to help strangers for free and improve his ridiculous instructions. When those same strangers shit on him, it makes the world look like a shitty place. @Skywombat: I don't use the Recon, but on principle I appreciate your work and hope you can help all the ridiculous Mac users to fully enjoy it also.
  4. Seriously. I'm ok with "greenlight"... but a dozen people yelling "get out" within half a second of the light coming on is moronic. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  5. Put it on your ankle, guy. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  6. You found one before, didn't you? Or can you not remember this also? www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  7. An accidental arm cutaway in freefall is a much less significant problem than an absent cutaway when you need it. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  8. Damn, that was actually really smooth. Nice job Scotty. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  9. I believe it. I'm very happy with the picture quality from my "cheap" 10-22. I only have one complaint, and that's that this lens only has 6 aperture blades, which produces ugly sunstars. You won't find many high priced lenses with an even number of blades like this, I don't think. If they would re-make the 10-22 with 7 aperture blades, I'd pay more for it. Unfortunately there's no other lens with exactly the same range as this one... given the weight, zoom range, and picture quality, I still think it's my favorite skydiving lens... the price is just a bonus. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

  11. So from that we can take home that not having an RSL may result in a different situation after a chop depending on whether you are or are not in a wingsuit (assuming you actually "go back into freefall" after chopping a main, which I would not, depending on how you define freefall ). But, my original question was, what does having an RSL have to do with whether or not you are wearing a wingsuit? The OP asked for concrete examples of a wingsuit/RSL combo causing problems, and I doubt he will find any, but I'm more interested in what kind of hypothetical thoughts would lead one to even ask this question. I still don't understand how an RSL could even be bad in theory even with the world's largest wingsuit. I don't have an RSL because I do so many jumps with a pretty big camera setup. But otherwise I would have one for sure. Unrelated but cool story bro: I did have one chop years ago with an RSL where it actually disconnected itself when it was supposed to function (I did not realize this until after landing when I noticed the RSL still on my rig with the shackle wide open). I asked the rig manufacturer about it and they said that is a known issue with RSL shackles. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  12. I've never jumped a safire, but I jump a Pilot (docile 9-cell) loaded at nearly 1.6, and I consider myself a very conservative canopy flyer. I rarely get twists, and when I do, it flies straight and untwists itself before I can even try to work on it. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  13. I'm not sure I understand what RSL's have to do with wingsuits. Small wingsuit, large wingsuit, no wingsuit... an RSL is going to function the same in all of those cases. Once you are under a malfunctioning canopy, you are no longer flying a wingsuit... you're flying a malfunctioning canopy. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

  15. There is no equation, but people who have been in a lot of flocks can guess, so you can ask them. :-) Since you mentioned the PF website, you basically have 4 real choices as I see it if you go with them. Phantom/Shadow, Ghost/Havok, Vampire, Venom. At your height/weight, the Venom is probably out of the question for flocking, assuming that is your goal. The Phantom series would probably serve you very well, but on extremely slow flocks you'll be challenged. The Ghost or Vampire would also serve you well in many flocks, but in faster flocks you might be challenged. The Vampire will have more forward speed, the Ghost will have better backflying. My advice: get a Phantom, fly the hell out of it, and if and when you want a bigger suit, you'll love the Phantom so much you'll keep it, and still use it often, in addition to whatever bigger suit you get. Remember, there is no single suit that will serve you on every jump. A good quiver of suits is no smaller than 2. :-) The only people who need to take that advice you quoted really seriously are people who are way under or oversized, i.e. a giant guy in a Phantom will have a hard time flocking (but this does not mean he should buy a Venom for his first suit). You are pretty average, which is a good place to be. And of course, try the other brands of wingsuits too! The models above are just the ones I know best. :-) www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  16. I've been skydiving mine since 2006, though it probably has only about 400 jumps on it. Never any problems with it! www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  17. I remember the video, and I don't know how I remember this, but I think the username of the guy who made the video was "perflare." Maybe that will help in a search. EDIT: Here is a post by the guy in the BASE forum. EDIT #2: You're welcome.

  20. Thanks for the quick response and for offering to temp fix it for me. Lucky number $777 please. :-) www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  21. Hi, I have a classified ad here. I've gone into the modify form and changed the price, but it is not reflected when viewing the ad. The funny thing is that when I go back into the modify form again, it shows the price that I set last time, so obviously the database saved this value somewhere, but it is failing to output it to the ad in place of the original price. Thanks. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

  23. You can pack like that, and all of us do. But don't drag the rig, that will cause excess wear (although I see many people do it anyway, and paid packers especially will do this if you use them). www.WingsuitPhotos.com
