  1. Thank you! I am tired of hearing people say that a good pilot in a Classic can smoke anyone. Simply not true. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  2. I'm guessing English is not his first language. As the above poster pointed out, the video explains it all. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  3. I would question the logic of waiting for something that "must" be in the works. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  4. I hit 196mph in my S3... vertical that is. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  5. Woa Kris, you taking your suit off objects already? I'm out of the loop! www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  6. Bumpity bump. Attached is a picture of me holding the d-box in place (it's not assembled yet). I've got PM's from 2 people saying they've used this setup with no problems, but found a few other people who do think it's too wide, and it still honestly looks huge to me. Just want to get all the opinions I can.

  8. Wtf? I just got the weirdest spam in my gmail account. The subject was "Skydivers earplugs". At first I thought the naysayers' prophecy about gmail was coming true: I was getting personalized spam, based on what keywords the gmail snoop-bots had leeched from my email and ostensibly sold to spammers. But then I noticed that the 4 other recipients were canopy guru Brian Germain and a couple of names I recognize as fellow BMI's. So I looked on the Bird-man website at the North America list and noticed we are currently the only 5 listed (which is screwy since there are dozens more, I already sent Jari mail asking about that). So this guy harvested our email addresses from the Bird-man site and spammed us for earplugs. Just think, if he ups his earplug customer base by 5, he is going to be banking BIG! Weird... www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  9. It kind of bothers me to see a comment like this pop up so fast. It's the same thing you see when whuffos start talking about skydiving. Within less than a minute the conversation always turns morbid. I don't find it that funny. Although I'm much more accepting when a fellow jumper makes a morbid joke about the sport. Strange. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  10. Hmm, by your definition I am cooler than myself. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  11. I already have the same username on both sites, by chance. From the article: Products that interest both communities can now be promoted through integrated, effective marketing campaigns. You mean like slackline? I've been doing a lot of that lately... www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  12. I just got an Optik Illusion and a side/top mount d-box intended for the TRV 19/22/23, but it is also supposed to work for the HC90 camera I got. I have not assembled the camera/box/helmet yet, but I have held the box up to the helmet while on my head and I must admit the width is daunting. It is about 3 inches wide. Bonehead lists it as a top mount but says that it can also be side mounted. I have not jumped a camera yet and since I do mostly (99%) wingsuit jumps where I can't touch my risers immediately, the width of the box is even more daunting to me. I plan on getting some help with assembly and advice at the DZ this weekend, and I plan on jumping it first WITHOUT my wingsuit. However, I'm curious what others think about a 3 inch box. I know many people who jump boxes that are probably very close to this width and say they have no problems, but just looking at it in the mirror I have no idea how it could NOT get hit by the risers. I almost like the idea of a top mount better now, but some people dissuaded me from that early on, saying that is a "pro" thing and sidemount is a more "entry-level" thing. I've seen people get criticized for buying a FTP for their starter helmet, but it looks so much safer... www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  13. I've seen the fastest mofo video, but where did you get the memorial vid? Oh yeah, and what everyone else said, nice pics! www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  14. Also, keep in mind the "general" population doesn't skydive. Those who do are people who may have been likely to engage in other high-risk sports in the past and maybe already have shoulder problems. Most of my worst injuries in life happened before I started jumping. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  15. Yup, a nice hard arch at the hips and chin up, eyes forward on horizon (not down on ground) works wonders. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  16. You're assuming strength (or lack thereof) has something to do with a dislocation. I am not an anatomist or a doctor so I don't know for sure; but I'd guess they are not necessarily correlated. I have known several very strong athletes who suffer frequent shoulder dislocations. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  17. During your deployment sequence, close your legwing first, actually touching your kneebones and feet together, followed by collapsing your armwing. Hold this for 1-2 seconds (sink out), then toss. KEEP your kneebones and feet touching until you are fully open. This should minimize whiplash. There are other ways, but that's the most basic. I don't know about "kicking your legs forward" after the pitch, but what I do is, if I'm flying really fast forward before the pitch, which I usually am, I arch really hard and look up, exposing my chest and armwings in the forward direction which puts on the forward brake and almost stalls the suit. Then I can toss pretty quickly from that position (still keeping legwing fully shut). This method simply makes it so I don't have to wait for a couple seconds in the sink out position described above. If this doesn't make any sense stick with the first method I described. I can't deal with whip because of my back, and I get zero with both of those methods. My WS openings are SOFTER than my freefall openings. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  18. Looks very shaky, probably you were either flying on the edge of a stall or more likely fully stalled (which is an accomplishment when you think about it). Were the wings even inflated? Hard to tell from the video. Cool stuff, congrats. Has this ever been done before? I've heard about Joao doing it with his feet outside of the tunnel in restrained "full flight", but never like this... www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  19. Hmm, last story I heard from Perry about Russia was about him getting robbed by the police... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

  22. If the rules stated that the kill had to occur during freefall (WS flight) what you described would create a statemate, not a low pull contest. But front and back is an option too. Would make for quicker kills, I think and take away a level of strategy, maybe. But who knows until we try it? Oh yeh and another thing... acrobatic suits would be perfect for this game! Acro vs PHI, end the brandwar once-and-for-all... (kidding) www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  23. I like that idea and it adds to the spectator appeal. Each flier could have camera and communications headset too, so the spectators could hear shit-talking, lock-on and kill tones, as well as see what the pilot sees. Skydiving survival tip #3298: do NOT under any circumstances have a low pull contest with Scary Perry. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  24. It could be a lot if 2 people collided head-on. But the way the game would be setup there would be no benefit to or reason for flying straight at someone. If you don't buy that, you could even add a rule: both fliers will maintain a northerly (or whatever) heading for the duration of the jump. But I don't think that's necessary and think it would be cooler without it. The goal is not to get close anyway as it makes you vulnerable. The goal is to get to a reasonable range to have snipewars. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
  25. Ok, ok. I know there are going to be replies suggesting this is too complicated/distracting and wingsuit flying is cool/dangerous enough already. To those, I ask that you at least admit that this is not impossible, and if it worked it would be incredibly fun. Someone made a post some time ago about "dogfighting" in wingsuits, and they were immediately (and rightly so) told how dangerously stupid that would be. However, consider this. Two wingsuit fliers. Each has goggles with crosshairs and a laser. Each has a target on his chest. I am unsure what the practical duration would be, but the idea is you have to lock your crosshairs on your opponent's target for a certain amount of time (as opposed to just glancing at it). The chest is chosen to put a good balance between attacking/defending. If the target was on the back, the game would always be stacked in the direction of the high man. On the chest, the attacker has to get underneath you and roll over, exposing his target as well. So in attacking, one makes himself vulnerable. So there's a balance, somewhat like other forms of fighting. I also thought about the shoulders as other potential target locations. I know I played laser tag as a kid a few times and loved it, I was always disappointed I didn't get to do it more often. People always wonder if skydiving has any future as a spectator sport. Sure, this is a long shot, and sure I'm just spouting off at the mouth. It probably won't happen. But can't you picture someone watching a wingsuit dogfight on their TV, with cool outside video and an annoying sports commentator voiceover? C'mon, admit it... www.WingsuitPhotos.com
