Supposedly she can still get pregnant. ... I think the jumping jack motion does ensure the most cable removal, but if you are able to get the whole thing out just by your sideways motion, and it's working for you, that's great. I seem to remember trying a sidewways motion with mine once, and the cables didn't quite come all the way out. I guess the most important thing to take home from this discussion is we should all try it a few times on the ground, and maybe even after opening just for the hell of it (something I still haven't tried). www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Not sure who taught you that, but as Scott said it won't work. In case you didn't understand the other description, think "jumping jack", as opposed to bicep curl. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Excellent Photoshop job, Kris. The pumpkin is an unnecessary risk though. You need to make the eye holes bigger or you will have severely decreased visibility. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I still have never made a WS jump with gloves on... managed to jump all 12 months of the year in FL without. But I guess that will change this December in Eloy... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Have you ever eaten anything in freefall?
The111 replied to Newbie's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Jesus, this thread is weird... I can't believe all the people who are saying they've eaten cookies in freefall... never occurred to me. What do you mean by "a banana on my back"? www.WingsuitPhotos.com -
This is true... I was chasing a giant student in my S3 and hit close to 200mph fallrate, I wonder what my forward speed was? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Has anyone ever made (or thought about) a handle which is a pillow with a "half-D" coming out of it? The half-D (metal) would go inside the velcro, so the handle would be as secure as a full D and would require the same force to pull as a full D (i.e. no peeling involved, no velcro on the handle). The pillow on the outside would present the benefits of a normal pillow handle (i.e. less snaggable). It could also have the freedom of movement of a full D (as is being discussed above). Thoughts on that idea? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

If you stand 10 ft away from your TV and aim your camera only slightly above it, you should still have no problem moving your eyes that far. But then again, I guess it wouldn't be too easy to pick your 62" TV up and move it over to the window. Maybe that was your point... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Hmm, I like that idea. Are those what Scary Perry has on his low pull rig? (I'm assuming maybe you know him or have seen it since you live in DeLand). www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Note to add here: Just make sure you are as -far- away from the tv screen as you can be. The farther away, the less margin of error. The closer:the greater. I used a slightly modified version of this to set up my sight. I put my TV right underneath my window, and stood in front of it looking out the window, aiming at an object very far away (~100m). Without moving my head, I was able to move my eyes down and look at the TV, to verify where the camera/helmet was pointing. Can't beat that, unless you have 100m of A/V cable and can see your TV from that far away. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

selling used gear, buying new, what to do with old AAD?

Warning to low-timers (even though I consider myself a low-timer too): do your EP's as you were trained. My current rig has a pillow cutaway and a metal D reserve handle. My EP's are peel right, pull right, pull left. I am considering switching to double pillows on my new rig. Reason: I have a bad back from a somewhat "headdown" (head low) reserve opening, and have been doing a lot of close proximity flying and the thoughts of snagging my metal D on something (someone) in freefall and having my reserve come out before I want it to (and hurting my bad back again) bother me. The concerns (cons) of switching to a pillow reserve are obvious: more effort and time needed to locate and pull the handle. If I do make this change, my EP's will change slightly. Should I: a) peel right, pull right, peel left, pull left b) peel right, peel left, pull right, pull left There are cons to either method. In (a) I have to spend a second peeling my reserve handle after I am back in freefall (when time is very critical if I am low). In (b) if executed properly, I can peel the reserve handle away while still under the mal'd main (slower fallrate than post-cutaway freefall), but if I am too eager I could get my reserve out too early. The extra one second "peel" in freefall (a) guarantees me a properly sequenced breakaway and reserve deployment, but could theoretically hurt me if I am very low (which I shouldn't be). I'm sort of leaning toward (a). And if anyone has any issues with "changing" EP's, let me say that it's inevitable if I switch to a pillow. And I have successfully changed my EP's in the past. Did 2-handed procedure on jump #50, wasn't happy with how it worked out, retrained myself on 1-handed procedures (drilled the HELL out of them) and successfully used them on jump #214. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

selling used gear, buying new, what to do with old AAD?
The111 replied to The111's topic in Gear and Rigging
That was another concern I had. I want my old rig to be marketable. It's in great condition, Spectre 170, PDR 160, Vector 3, great for beginners. Beginners like AAD though. I may lose a bit of money on the used AAD sale, but I may gain it back if I make the whole rig very attractive to new buyers. Any thoughts on this issue, anyone? www.WingsuitPhotos.com -
selling used gear, buying new, what to do with old AAD?
The111 replied to The111's topic in Gear and Rigging
I have a rig with AAD (Cypres 2, about 2 years old) I will be ordering a new rig, which I will also equip with AAD (Cypres 2 again). Once I can jump my new rig I will sell the old one. Should I: a) Sell old rig with AAD, buy new AAD for new rig b) Sell old rig without AAD, install old AAD in new rig I'm leaning toward (b), since you always lose money when you sell things used, there is no reason to sell the AAD and buy a new one if I don't have to. The only benefit of (a) would be getting a new AAD that is further from the 4-year service mark, but I don't think that's worth it. I guess it depends on how much money I'd really lose (i.e. the resale value of a 2-yr old Cypres 2) to decide. Another consideration is will the AAD work with the new rig? I don't know much about rigging but I know there are different models of AAD's for different rigs (1-pin, 2-pin, etc). The old rig is a Vector 3 V348M, the new one is an Icon I4. I'm guessing the AAD would swap ok... www.WingsuitPhotos.com -

Haha, I skimmed your post and saw "tailgate", "TV", and "throw" and thought you were suggesting throwing the TV out of the SkyVan (i.e. to stop the stupid arguments), before my mind fully finished interpreting the sentence. www.WingsuitPhotos.com -

Keys Boogie 2005 - Skydive Sebastian - Marathon Key
The111 replied to bendywendy's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Hmm, I just called my hotel (Sea Dell) in Marathon, and they are open and undamaged they say. So I guess it's still up in the air? And yes, I realize this is the most selfish reason possible to be concerned about whether or not a city was damaged by a hurricance. www.WingsuitPhotos.com -
Very cool idea, kudos! www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Ok, I have people trying to talk me into going to this boogie at the last minute (I wasn't even really aware of the boogie until a couple days ago). And I only have one question. Who's going to be flying wingsuits? -
I think there were some V1 demos at Flock n Dock 1.5. Maybe Morpheus knows. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

USPA has no rules regarding WS, only recommendations. You will probably have no problem finding an instructor, however currency is more important than total jump numbers. 200 jumps in 3.5 years could mean several things. For example, if you did 150 jumps and then took 2 years off the sport, you might not be current enough to be heads-up in a wingsuit flight. But provided your jumps were spaced out evenly, or even better, weighted toward the end of the 3 year period, you will be more current and overall more ready for WS. Find a BMI and talk to him now. On your next 30 jumps, practice some things that he can tell you such as wingsuit style exits and deployments, and tracking. I see you're in FL - send me a PM if you can't find anybody closer to you. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
