Start it with airplanes taking off, end it with parachutes and airplanes landing, and fill the middle with a really overplayed Linkin Park song... that seems to be the going recipe! Or get creative. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

It's clear in the video that the plane starts its dive at about 0:11 (same time he starts the left bank), after I'm (blue suit) already out of the left frame. Scotty (yellow suit) wasn't even fully off the step until around 00:09, and no decent pilot will start diving until he knows the last man is gone - it's reasonable that he waited 1-2 seconds before starting the dive. I don't think the dive makes it look more dramatic, because the video fades out as the dive starts, but I will be the first to admit that the 3rd person POV always makes it look more impressive... look at the 1st person shot to determine how high it really is. I think that was Ed's point exactly... correct me if I'm wrong Ed. I saw your exit, and it was a very good one too... congrats. Video from inside the plane is a very cool effect... I didn't have that benefit, but the pilots did say they saw it and loved it. I asked them to take it to around 125 knots, with an absolute max of 130 on that day. I asked afterwards and they confirmed the 125. It was certainly not the fastest I've done, but those really fast ones can be really difficult not to lose it on that initial windblast! This one was a nice comfortable speed... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Hey I'm gonna lose my canopy at Palatka... can you help me find it?? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

On the topic of high-speed exits, and along the lines of my above post... I've always thought it is easier for skinny people to get above plane than heavy people, but if my assertion above was correct (that drive, not lift pushes you above the plane), then it would almost seem heavier people can do better, since they can generate higher fallrates and forward drive. Anybody else have any thoughts on this? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

The jumper does get above the plane, although the plane dives near the end which adds to the separation. In my opinion it is DRIVE, not lift, that carries the jumper above the plane, since the airstream at exit is horizontal. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Here's a short, stupid video I made last night, mainly just to learn a little about editing. Even as short as it is, it took me a couple hours to make between learning the software, and a bunch of other little problems I kept running into along the way. At the Lake Wales deaf world record Casa boogie, we got the Casa to do some high speed passes and got a few good exits out of it. A couple of the deaf guys saw me playing this footage on the TV, after a jump, and they wanted a copy. So here it is, guys. VIDEO www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Ah, I knew there weren't 108 way flocks, I just figured you made a typo... Thanks for clearing that up... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

You did 108 ways and didn't call me? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Read my earlier (long) post in this thread about hotels, dude. My vote is for the Sea Dell. www.WingsuitPhotos.com -
If I had to guess, he didn't actually pack it slider down, he just left the slider collapsed (but it was up at the top of the lines). Is this right? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Hey, anybody have a good idea for getting cheap tickets from Orlando to Phoenix? I'm currently looking and can't find anything cheaper than $410, roundtrip. I'm wondering if I should wait a few more weeks and see if they go down, or if the opposite will happen. I don't really want to wait until the last minute to get the tickets lined up, either. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I started jumping camera (topmount) 30 jumps ago on a demo Pilot 150 (while my Spectre 170 was getting relined). I had great openings on the Pilot, no matter what I did with my head (looking up, down, or ahead). When I got my Spectre back with new lines, I found that if I look up to watch the canopy (which I could get away with on the Pilot), I get my neck whipped near the end of the snivel. Watching the horizon and keeping my neck inline has fixed this problem, but I find it funny I could get away with watching my canopy with the Pilot, but not the Spectre. Just as well... my next canopy will be a Pilot anyway. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I thought it was the sleeper hit of last year. I haven't seen it either (though I plan to one of these days), but I'm not sure how one could call it a "sleeper hit"... I have had literally DOZENS of people in the past couple months tell me to see it. I'll admit the constant references to it everywhere I go get a bit old, but I'm still keeping an open mind about it. As far as non-standard comedy... in my opinion the funniest movie I've seen in the past 5 years was Punch Drunk Love. I've forced so many people to watch that movie and nobody even cracked a smile at the parts where I was rolling around on the ground with my sides aching... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Something I've noticed before: I've always heard that on bigway RW jumps, the most important skill is tracking. So I naturally assumed that people would track like mad away from bigway RW jumps. However, I've watched video of some very large RW formations and at breakoff seen many people in poor tracking positions. However, maybe there is a reason for this. I understand breakoff probably occurs in waves, and maybe trackers need to control their speed relative to what the wave in front is doing. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

That's what I do. It works, but I also end up never making any really close friends at any one DZ. I finally started frequenting one DZ more often than others, and am starting to see all the politics I hadn't been aware of before... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I think there may be a small registration fee to cover food and the actual Hog Flop jump. Camping, showers, plenty of tentspace. Don't know about motels, I'm a skydiver. You're gonna have to call the DZ with other questions, I don't work there... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

I plan on getting there Friday morning. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Hmm, that's really interesting. I got an Optik Illusion several weeks ago, and baked the liners right away (though I did try it on before that). I THINK it fits slightly better now (after baking). At any rate, I don't seem to have any problems with the fit, in general. Hey, could you just reheat the foam and not apply pressure to it while cooling, to cause it to return to original shape? www.WingsuitPhotos.com

Gunnar, that's not flocking and you know it! Nice shot... www.WingsuitPhotos.com

The bad half or the good half? You are right though, James is a good flyer, almost as good as L.O.T.S. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

My lowest pulls ever (seated around 2k) have been in the wingsuit (really just a coincidence and a function of the fact that WS is nearly all I do), but since I just strapped a camera on my head I've jacked it back up to around 4k (toss) and plan to leave it there for a long time. I have no problems pulling considerably lower if the situation requires, but I'll aim to get to a clean piece of sky by 4k. www.WingsuitPhotos.com
