We were jumping at a small DZ in Kansas in 1970 a women (student) started to jump at our DZ in response the pilots wife grounded him Prior to that incident the pilot had told us he was the "king of his castle" (20 yrs). After the incident we asked him what happened to the "king". The pilot found out his crown was on loan from the queen

Don't know about the "falling into the canopy" part But While jumping a Sabre 170 loaded at 1.1 We buried a toggle and after about three rotations the canopy was below us and there was slack in the lines. Yikes! That was enough excitement for me. We tried this experiment with lots of altitude (good if your going to be stupid) after we let up on the toggle the canopy continued to turn by the time the canopy was overhead we had line twists real bad, but were able to kick out of it.

Hi Nightjumper Great pic's! Gotta love the pic of Cara's tail in freefall & her smiley face after the jump

There's a payphone on the deck at the Lounge. Hi Dave Problem solved. Just take a calling card for the pay phone and save money to party and jump. Eric the red & Wife and kids get to stay in touch everyone's happy

Hi Andy >>Of course. DZO's don't usually do that, they farm it off to riggers.... Who may or may not do a good job.>> IMO The agreement between a DZ and their rigger varies from DZ. Why blame the rigger? There's also a packer that packed the gear knowing the velcro was shot. Why blame the packer? This is probably a "busy" DZ and the team including the DZO isn't working together. >>Before flying off the handle, a concerned jumper should quietly discuss the issues with management, to make sure they're aware. Only then should they fly off the handle...>> IMO no reason to fly off the handle unless you own the place. Don't like whats going on go to another DZ. Since the DZ is a USPA member send a registered letter with your concerns to USPA if the DZ doesn't clean up their act. USPA doesn't have to give every DZ their offical stamp of approval if their aware of a problem. Students need good equipment. Just my opinion. R.I.P.

Hi Argon Just a guess but I think if the right/wrong people wanted to find out what kind of meds your taking all "they" gotta do is check with your medical insurance company to find out what kind of drugs they've been paying for. I think your medical records are supposed to be private but if they want/need them there's a paper trail. Damn computers! OTOH if you pay your own medical bills (cash) for certain things you might have a chance of no one finding out. R.I.P. R.I.P.

Hi GG A while back we were at the LP boogie from start to finish. No radio newspaper etc. Just fun in the sun and the lake. On the way home we stopped for gas and a guy's bitching about the price of gas going up so fast in response to Iraq invadeing Kuwait Damn missed the news repeating the same incident over and over again

Hi Spidermonkey The rigger works for the DZO. Just be diplomatic and tell the DZO in private what happened. If the DZO knows the velcro needs to be replaced maybe he'll see that it gets done. No talkee no workee

Hi SmONE Still a little confused onece you got the canopy against your chest are you rolling the canopy away from you (underneath , towards the ground). Vs the pysco where the roll is on the top. R.I.P.

Hi Gary Damn your a nasty troublemaker asking a question like that. Reminds me of the thread from the student who found out after he spent the big bucks on AFF he had to find another DZ to jump at. I guess since you let the cat out of the bag on this "additional source of cash flow for the "student industry" the solution is for the students to inquire befor they sign up for AFF($$$$) about the cost of using the DZ's gear after they complete AFF and if they'll even still be allowed to jump there. I'm considering trying to sign up the DZ's around the country for the rights to charge jumpers, visitors etc, for parking cars at the DZ.

Comebacks for skydiving criticism?
slug replied to mt_skydiver's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hi Mt I agree with everyone else, other people don't need to know, as long as your having fun that's what counts. OTOH if the cats already out of the bag maybe just respond "different strokes for different folks, some folks get off on collecting stamps, coins, bowling, shuffle board snow boarding, bike rideing (make up your own stupid list) its all about whatever makes you happy. You just happen to enjoy jumping out of airplanes. It's all about what you enjoy doing. Everyone enjoy's doing something. R.I.P. -
Hi Sundevil Sorry but we've had a failure to communicate. I'm in the process of getting back in the saddle again. Getting the reserve repacked was just the first step. I just got that old, out of date, 5 cell, POS reserve, repacked

Hi Ed As you describe it, the staff was definatly out of line rude and crude. But imo slaming the DZ as being "unsafe" in a public forum was also a little excesive. Payback is hell R.I.P.

Sure.. think you can survive one of mine???? Hi Amazon I survived But i'm still impressed and I think i'm still compressed.

I was unfortunate enought to end up with a biplane but it occured at 1500' so I had the advantage of time to evaluate the situations and my options.

It is common during really hot times. I am suprised you haven't encountered that before. Hi Sundevil Sorry but I have to agree with you. Florida in July? Major heat! IMO leave the damn door open. What the problem? Afraid your going to fall out with you seat belt on and the door open on T.O.? Belly wart with spring loaded PC? Don't use those anymore. A good gear check and sitting still in the airplane and covering your handles should take care of any gear problems. Structural problem with the A.C. T.O. with door open? What added strength does a lexon door provide to airplane? Ever see the pictures of the folks at the WFFC on in the helicopter on T.O. DC 3 inflight door? Don't remember any "Back in the day" Cessna's didn't have a inflight door so they just took off the std door.( Not very comfortable in a lot of parts of the country in the winter) I've jumped at Lake wales a couple of times last time three years ago and never saw any safety problems. R.I.P.

Believe me.. the Color pictures do not do it justice.. the Puget Souind.. the American Alps to the east... its as scenic as it gets.. and the river valley is SOOOO Green Jeanne River? Damn I thought it was a realy big swoop pond The picture of Kapow is interesting the student field looks so... big, compared to the the LZ by the hanger. Personally I liked the pic of the DZ in Ill. Landing off the DZ no problemo

Hi Bytch The "boss" and I take seperate vacations, we used to take the hounds with us but this way is a lot easier on everyone. We live close to a women's prison take has a boarding program for hounds, they also do training for assisted living dogs. If you got a prison close by give em a call. R.I.P.

IMO There's DZ's like that all over the countryIt's their DZ so they can do whatever they want with it. But there's also a lot of great DZ's with a "view", I know of some on the west coast R.I.P.

If you search the forums for "Larsen and Brusgaard" or "L&B," you will find numerous customers that have been astounded by the incredible customer service L&B provides. I have owned L&B products since 1989, currently owning 2 Pro-Dytters. They work VERY well . . . the best audibles I have ever owned. I still have my origional Dytter don't jump much any more, the only thing I don't like about it over the years is having to replace the batteries once in a while.. New batteries does increase the volumn

Hi McCordia IMO folks like that are into power& control, & have a bully type personality. To bad there's lots of them all over the place. You were discussing how much work you all had been doing for him and then he tries to "get you" with a cheap shot. The good news is your only doing contract work, don't have to see the "little man" every workday for years and can minimize you exposure to the jerk by using correct administative procedures.
