  1. OMG you mean the Russians stole a space shuttle? Me thinks the russians are getting rid of some ICBM's. Fly by wire? don't need to land the thing just two folks to turn the key for T.O.. Hope they have the time to take the nukes off before launch time. R.i.P.
  2. IMO don't worry about it you can always marry/hook up with someone else at the same DZ, Happens all the time. Most folks still get along. Be carefule if you end up with kids from both S.O. and the kids grow up together at the DZ. Could be very confusing. R.I.P.

    Hurricane Ivan

I can think of a way to curb it...no federal assistance for weather damage to any homes or businesses that are constructed after the end of this year. If a person/business wants to move to Florida, they're free to, but the rest of us shouldn't have to pay for their decision if the weather gods smite them. Oh, and no federal bailouts of insurance companies that find themselves teetering on the precipice of bankruptcy due to weather claims either. Blues, Dave Hi Dave Good point bad timing. The Governor of florida has the same DNA as the President of the US, and this is a election yr. So we'llcontinue to help out the folks in Florida because it's the right thing to do. The gov't moves very slow and has lots of things to consider. But the insurance industry has investor and policy holders that they have to keep happy. If home nsurance premiums gets to high due to the masive number of claims from this hurrican season, people won't be able to afford to rebuild or even buy a home without affordable ins. In Wa state, earthquake Ins is extremely high (unaffordable) even with a goofy deductiable like $20K+, and the chance of the "big one is....... a lot less than a Huricane hitting florida. After the insurance companies in florida calculate their losses watch out. the cost of living & jumping in paradice just went up. R.I.P. R.I.P.

    Job Posting

Hi Pop Duh Does the job require traveling and spending nights away from the family Sorry R.I.P.
  5. Jumping is reality you screw up you can "hurt yourself real bad". I'm afraid of dieing befor it's my time so when I'm "impaired" legal/illegal sit on the couch and and try and operate the remote contol. Ever notice that a lot of folks "team up" when jumping? It onot only about a persons ability but also about responiability. Can a DZ detect impaired jumpers and prevent them from jumping? booze and some illegal drugs maybe, prescribed drugs who's going to know. R.I.P.
  6. Yep, went for the glamor girl, turned out she was a total bitch, everything was about her. Of course not! Hi Brains Since we're talking about Bitch's Whats going to make you happy? A show dog or a go dog.? I married a go dog and been a happy camper for 30+ years. Folks come over to the house and say damn you did all this? Nope the wife did Doesn't your wife do this stuff also? Hell no Different strokes for different folks. Did buy the wife a nice riding lawn tractor to mow the lawn. The push mower took to long. R.I.P.
  7. Hi Chuteless Times change. DZ's only make a limited amount of money off of fun jumpers. We all know where the real money comes from. Back in the day a weekend of FJC of s/l students would take a couple of hours to throw out of the plane and was a nice payday for the DZO. Now there's enough Big money students that have allowed the DZO's to cange their business model. No problem it's the DZO's business and they can run it the way the want to as long as the big money folks keep on showing up. After the glory days are over a couple of fun jumper will chip in and buy a cessna and the cycle will start over again. Don't worry be happy, the DZO's are providing a service for those that can afford it their not in it for charity. R.I.P.

    Hurricane Ivan

Hi Mama Ivans projected path that you posted looks goofy, straight as a arrow until it get off the florida coast then gets confused. No wonder it's hard to predict where and when. Saw a interesting blurb on T.V. last night about all the folks moving to Florida. Estimates are 1000 new residents a day.. showed lots of housing construction. Good luck R.I.P.
  9. Hi Sarah No direspect but the jobs your talking about can be good or bad depending on the company you work for. We used to call Human resources "the black hole" and stayed away from them like the plaque because they couldn't be objective due to the organization chart which put them directly under mnagement their option in handling personnel challenges were limited in spite of what the empolyee handbook said. Our director of Human resources refered to his office as "Human remains". Of course some companies are different and trat their employees fairly. Hint: Don't go to work for the gov't. IMO Interpersonal skill should be helpful working at a DZ. But the pay sucks. communication is a interesting subject used to be call propaganda or being able to put a spin on a subject. Having good command of the english language is a real plus, a concience could be a minus. R.i.P.
  10. IMO The skydiving industry/sport has evolved to catering to the tandem AFF folks due to the profit margin vs reguler jumpers. Load organisers free video for fun jumpers? sorry that's not cost effective. If the AFF and tandem folks stay around long enough to get some nice gear before they quit and the skydiving industry has enough Tandem & AFF instructors to cater to the cash cows, This will allow the sport/business to continue but the service that the fun jumper's can expect will decline while their costs to jump will continue to rise. Not complaining just calling it the way I see it. We all have a choice. The net is free
  11. Hi Squeak This subject is so boring... It got moved to speakers corner 6-12 month's ago so yjose of us could easily avoid it. What ever floats your boat, post what and where you want to. If someone in "power don't like it they can move it. LMAO R.i.P.
  12. Hi Amazon Due to the scale of your photo and all that red
  13. What everyone else said.
  14. IMO the pentagon learned a important lesson from Viet Nam: The american public won't stand for another draft. The National Guard and Reserve's are the draftee's of the "War on Terrorism". I don't see the draft happening, but if you join the reserves you signed a contract so your a "volunteer" to bad so sad no one weekend a month stuff your going to be very busy playing in the sand for extended periods of time. May as well discuss this with the wife and sign a 4 yr contract for the regulers. If your lucky they won't have a "stop loss" in place to prevent you from leaving after your enlistment is over. Semper Fi R.I.P.
  15. NICE! That's awsome. Like WMW says Back in the good old day's (pre cell phone, hangers, trailers in door packing etc). The landing injuries even from a "hook turn" or a O-NO on a hot dog PC or rag were relativily mild. Broken ankles, legs were not unusual. Someone get hurt? Back in the day Ambulance? Hassle with Insurance etc It was more efficent to load the jumper into his own car stop on the way to the hospital to P.U. the S.O. and drive to the hospital.
  16. Hi AD >>Or maybe some proof to back up some of his wild-ass stories from the "old days." >> Uh The 70's weren't the "old days". Just lots of fun, drugs, sex, more fun and rock & roll
  17. Hi RR Hell of a way for a soldier to go to work either: Halo at night or Combat S/L/ Even worse must have been knowing they had to go to "work" more than once a day. IMO all those guy's add a whole new meaning to the term professional. R.I.P.
  18. Hi john Some time I'll have to tell you about the freebee I got from the VA. They have a system Still laughing about it 30 yr's later.
