Hi Wingnut A reserve container DOM of 64 is not old, that baby was to young to go to surplus until the seventies. Yes the packing volume was a bitch, good news the litle people could land like a feather but they had to walk around with that stuff in a 4 pin container that extended from the bottom of their butt to the middle of their neck. Sit down in the plane the bottom of the container is resting on the seat the top of the container is close to the middle of your head and the shoulder straps are falling off you shoulders. Then she/he can be rescued from the confused skydiver. IMO if one person (guy or gal) is willing to be rescued thats not stealing. Killing the good person spouse and taking the widow is stealing. That was Republican strategy at its best. Liberals bring up draft bill and claim Bush is going to sign it if it's passed...even though he didn't. What do the Republicans do? They force the bill to the floor for a vote...the bill the liberals created. Even the liberal who started the bill voted no. It emberrased the liberals big time. Hi Tuna Sorry but I agree sort of IMO your selling all of the pliticians a little short on the brain side. I suspect the whole draft bill was a scam. The payoff was some pork barrel stuff or other political considerations for the guy who suggested it and the two who voted for it to make it look kind of legit. IMO it's may be a political tool to put up a bill so everyone can earn brownie points voting it down. A 98% no vote. WTF was the point?. Back in the day I think we were in the active reserves for 2 or 4 yr's after a honorable discharge. Don't know what it is now. I think If I was on the bubble of getting called back and didn't mind. Maybe I'd go back as a contractor, could be same jobfor more pay. Would that work? Not really dodgeing getting called back since your already working there. R.I.P.

IMO There has been a "draft" of volunteers in effect for a while. Now they just call it "stop loss" the guard and reserves. If someone said any of the above who doesn't want to be here can leave, some would leave and some would stay. BTW didn't read the link don't mean nutin. R.I.P.

The con is that they are a computer operated by a human. They will not have not and never will operate 100% of the time. The con is that the majority of skydiving death's in the last 10-15 yr's have occured because humans fail to recieve the proper training on how to land a perfectly good parachute. the pro is one of the reasons of the cause of fatel accidents has changed is because AAD.s will work sometime in spite of human error. In spite of Air bags in cars Some people still wear seat belts and some people are actually injured or killed by air bags. I suggest you check the incident reports yourself on this websight among other's and become a educated consumer, find a instructor you trust, learn your gear, pack for yourself, stay current and think!!!! Trust me, I'm definitely looking for a position within the Green Zone that allows me to simply sip martinis with the international press corp.! J. The green zone may be one color but based on 20-20 hindsight it has different shade's of green. Wanna bet your life which shade of green your going to get and how your going to get there.
