  1. Congrads!!! Glad to hear that your wife is taking it well:) I must say that it seems like this would be really difficult to give up. I just started, and all I want to do is be in the sky! I went two wknds in a row, but it felt like an eternity between them! Fly high! Angela.
  2. Thanks guys!! Yeah, they didn't help me on one of the landings, and I flared too late... hence, the pain in my tailbone. He told me he'd like to leave me on the radio for a few more jumps. That's cool with me. I'm still getting used to landing, that is where i've had the worst problems. Freefall has been great! Love the back loop, that is so freakin' cool! I wasn't sure if i'd even done it, but they said I did. haha. Can't wait to get back in freefall! Angela.
  3. I think it really depends on the person. I felt really ready to jump, I was mentally prepared for it and I knew I wouldn't freak out. I didn't do any tandems, went straight into AFF, and i've gotten through most of it in two wknds, next is my AFF8 (hop n pop) and that's it. I am so glad that I didn't waste my $$ on any tandems, cuz i'd have been likely to get a video, and having my video of my first jump being AFF1, I think it's awesome!! Also, I don't see how it would've helped me any to do a tandem. I'm not the best canopy control artist, but, i'm getting better, i've stood up two landings and I feel really good about those. For some people I think they are afraid how they will react when they jump. My girlfriend just did her first tandem this weekend. I personally do not think she would've been able to do AFF1 as she was just too frightned and she probably would've been one of those who went into sensory overload. She wants to do another tandem before considering AFF1. I think a lot of people are like this. Angela.
  4. Went up to Skydive Sebastian this wknd. As some of you know, last wknd I did levels 1 & 2. This wknd I did level 3 twice (lost alti awareness the first time, and had to be told to pull), then level 4. And on Sunday I did levels 5,6 & 7! Now, just my hop n pop left, i'm feeling major confident and am having a blast! My butt hurts a bit from a hard landing on Sunday, I had some turbulence, and didn't deal with it well I suppose. But, I stood up a couple of jumps, and that felt great! Ok, just wanted to update you all... I'm so proud! :D can't wait to go back for my hop n pop and get my completion certificate... I hear i'm buying everyone beer, too, so i'd better bring extra cash Angela.
  5. Wow, that sux, Chris! Hope that it clears up soon 4 ya. Cadmium, I also had tubes in my ears as a child. And, yea, they are a bit clogged from this wknds jumps as well. I think it is lesser, tho... so i'm gonna give it a few more wknds of jumps and see how all goes. If I am still having problems, i'll talk to the ENT doctor. Thanks for the tip! Angela.
  6. If they are going clubbing, and no alcohol is served... what are they doing? Possibly partaking in other mind altering substances while their children are left at home alone to throw things around, possibly hitting each other, and possibly finding toxic substances to ingest? I'm sorry, but if those kids are not over 12 yrs old, they should not be home alone while mommy is out partying. Personally, I would monitor that and take action if I felt necessary. As far as your lousy neighbors, ... are you a renter/owner? You can always complain if people are throwing things around regularly at 3am, and being rowdy. Personally, I can't sleep with any noise or light, so, my sleep-deprived evil twin would've already called. fwiw, who cares if you're skating in a speedo, let alone shorts and a shirt.? . It's a free country last I checked. Who cares what they think?! jmo. Angela.
  7. Don't feel bad. On Wednesday, my bank said -491$, I only had 9$ of overdraft left, and all credit cards were maxed. Thank god for payday, and luckily the sale of my condo went through on Thursday *whew*. That is when I knew that god loved me, I was in deep ****! ... Now I can go drink and jump Angela,.
  8. Pop an Excederin followed by a beer. Always works 4 me:) Angela.
  9. I voted #3. Death would be too kind. And, having seen this before, the law sux. jme. angela.
  10. Hope all turns out ok. !! ***good vibes*** Moving scams, is that like someone is moving your stuff and doesn't bring it to the new place or something? Sorry, i'm oblivious. Angela.
  11. Oh, man.. I gotta do Level 3 on Saturday. Last time I was going the wrong way, too, and was corrected. I wonder what it'll be like when they let go of me, it sounds so awesome, tho! Are you at least still having a good time? Even if your failing, it sure sounds like fun! Did you talk to them about it, they said you'd have to repeat it a 3rd time? That seems so harsh:( Angela.
  12. Yay!! My ears feel better!!! I took advice from my all-knowing data warehouse guy (he took all sorts of sciences, and he's been skydiving, cavediving, and almost everything).. I put a hot compress on it for 20 minutes and took 2 flexeril (muscle relaxers). I repeated this again later. I could actually hear and feel the movement in the ear tube/canal(?), it was really weird. But, all better!! Now I can go skydiving this weekend!! Thanks again to all. So, then i'll swallow/yawn/etc while acsending, and val salva while descending. Angela.
  13. I love stories that start off with "When I was in jail" or the like, !! Not meant offensively... most of the ones I hear are actually pretty funny, and from people I am related to! Angela.
  14. Damn! I knew this was a sexy sport!! I didn't realize how racy (for lack of a more intense word) this site is! Angela.
  15. DZs & Reef Aquariums.... sounds like a great vacation 2 me:)
  16. Awe, thanks for the invite I did find great instruction at Sebastian. I love it there, the people are great, and I am learning so much... not to mention the thrill of jumping from the plane hehe. Maybe i'll travel that way someday and dive with ya
  17. Thanks! I'll definitely see about planning better prior to getting on the plane. And, i'll probably read that last post about 20 more times, haha. Thanks for the help!! Angela.
  18. Me, too! I donated like 20 pair this year, just too many shoes... Some I hadn't even worn yet. I try to stay away from the mall when I get paid, else I end up living on ice chips and grain alcohol for 2 weeks 'til the next Angela.
  19. These were posted on the reef central message board, just thought i'd share as they cracked me up! How to keep a healthy level of insanity: 1) At lunchtime, sit in your parked car with sunglasses on and point a hair dryer at passing cars. See if they slow down. 2) Tell your children over dinner. "Due to the economy, we are going to have to let one of you go." 3) Every time someone asks you to do something, ask if they want fries with that. 4) Put your rubbish bin on your desk and label it IN." 5) Put decaf in the coffee maker for 3 weeks. Once everyone has gotten over his or her caffeine addictions, switch to espresso. 6) Finish all your sentences with "In accordance with the prophecy." 7) Dont use any punctuation 8) Use, too...much; punctuation! 9) As often as possible, skip rather than walk. 10) Ask people what sex they are. Laugh hysterically after they answer. 11) Specify that your drive-through order is "to go." 12) Sing along at the opera. 13) Go to a poetry recital and ask why the poems don't rhyme. 14) Put mosquito netting around your work area. Play a tape of jungle sounds all day. 15) Five days in advance, tell your friends you can't attend their party because you're not in the mood. 16) Have your co-workers address you by your wrestling name, Rock Hard. 17) When the money comes out of the ATM, scream "I Won! I Won! 3rd time this week!!!" 18) When leaving the zoo, start running towards the parking lot yelling, Run for your lives, they're loose!" And the final way to keep a healthy level of insanity.... 19) Send this to everyone in your address book, even if they sent it to you or have asked you not to send them stuff like this.
  20. Stay happy and know that you can do it. Listen well during training, and anything you're unclear on, ask your trainer. Jump out with confidence, just like in your practice, and arch, and relax. On the ride up, close your eyes and envison your jump, and each task you'll perform on it. And, don't worry too much, just relax, and do what you've been trained to. The easier you tell yourself it is, the easier it will be:) I just did AFF1 & 2 last weekend, its awesome! Have a blast! angela.
  21. Hello! Welcome to the forums. I'm new here, too. Just made my first two jumps this past weekend (19th & 20th), my AFF1 & AFF2. It does seem to be an expensive hobby! Moreso even than my coral reef addiction, haha. . My plan is to complete AFF training, get my A license, and then start saving toward some gear. I want to wait to see what type of diving I like best before choosing a suit, etc, cuz I think some are specially geared toward freefly, others not, etc.? Anyhow, as far as what to do next, if you think you can handle it, and are certain you want to do this as a hobby, go for the AFF training:) But, if you feel you're unsure, or that you might still have a problem with being in reality, then you might want to do another tandem first. I went straight to AFF and am glad I did. It is great, and the instructors are right there with you, just not strapped to you. It's your choice. Many of the DZs on here are rated by people who've visited, you can also post in the Places to Jump asking if anyone recommends one in your area. Have fun! Fly High! Angela.
  22. Thanks guys!! I'll let you know how I did come Monday... it is nice to hear that i'll be standing soon. If I can just believe that, i'll probably be fine. Just like the initial dive. I just believed I could do it without panic, and I did. I guess it is all mental, really. Angela.
  23. yeah! I've been waiting on this closing for ever! Just glad to finally be rid of the condo, now I can pay some debt, and focus on other things. Now, if I can just pass calculus, all summer goals will have been accomplished Oh, and, I need advice like, dive light, lol!! Seeing as though I have such problems with landing and all, haha!! Hope I can get it right this time. I'll play around a bit more in flight to see how the canopy reacts. Note to self: Stare 45degrees down. . The grounds is not nearly as close as it appears, lol! thx for the encouragement! angela.
  24. Fun pictures!! Looks like your havin' a blast up there! I can't wait until I can try stuff like that, too
  25. YAY!! Closed on the condo, funding should take place tomorrow in a.m... $$ for more dives ok, just thought i'd share my joy. I'll most likely be up in Sebastian again this wknd. Wish me luck,i'm gonna try to smack down at least levels 3 & 4, maybe even 5:) Angela
