My only criticism of Crowley is he used poor tactics....if Gates was a bad guy with a partner in the res Crowley as an initial responding single man unit may well have been toast. (Loudly verbalize all commands and make sure your digital recorder is rolling) So Crowley was actually being pretty low key at risk of his own neck........ And Gates/Obama would really be yelling if the above tactics were followed! (Too bad!) Fact is anyone-no insurance, even no ID, no english, etc etc goes to an ER and they will be treated! (And most have already figured that out.) I'm really not familiar with the hc9, however figured I'd throw out what recently happened on my dcr-hc42- Same thing; was driving me crazy. Computer wasn't seeing the cam at all. In the touch screen menu the "connection" was turned to off, I think it may have been reset when I was slow changing batteries or hit master reset button. Hope this helps?

This is an excellent point, and I'd like to hear a thorough answer from anyone on the pro-WSI rating side. I'm a bit puzzled by the impetus for the call for USPA to regulate wingsuiting on the level of AFF and tandems. From the brief scanning of this thread I've done, it seems that "safety" is the driving motivation. But how many deaths/injuries can be attributed to manufacturer-rated instructors "not following the rules"? Perhaps 2 that I'm aware of (and even that's debatable). Are there more? Each year's USPA fatality report shows multiple swooping deaths, most from people operating far below the USPA/manufacturer recommended experience for the maneuver, canopy choice, and/or wing loading. Is there a real probability that a USPA CPI rating system will be mandated any time soon? If USPA hasn't "regulated" canopy piloting instruction (which has a much worse safety record) yet, what makes us think they'll really bring the hammer down on wingsuiting first? With that in mind, is the posted proposal really "in front of the train, running at the same speed than to be hit by it", or is it actually fueling a train that would run out of steam on its own before long? +10! The WL charts arn't even enforced. Don't wanna be rude but why does all the self important calls for "atmo needs instruction" joke keep echoing in my head....

Going to try to be more tech savvy now....at least try! Difference between 3.3 megapixel CCD Imager 1/3 advanced HAD with 2048 pixels/ but then says 530 Horizntal resolution vs 1.0 megapixel CCD Imager 1/6 HAD with 690 pixels with 520 lines horizontal resolution. So if there is only a difference of 10 horizontal lines of resolution would there really be much difference in video qaulity? Reprogramming the prom in my vette makes sense to me, but these specs don't!

Response to no one in particular..... Yes, some kind of across the board standardization is a real good thing. Make a minimum jump number for WS a regulation-OK, now DZO's can enforce it even. But I'm just having a hard time comparing the "need" for an "official" WSI rating with AFFI or TI. Just seems ....well not quite apples and oranges but kinda....... I'm I the only one having a hard time with the comparison????

I've been comparing to a wide variety. I"ve been using the sony vcl-0625s wide angle lense. I hadn't heard much bad about that one...

Yup, it's on manual focus, set with the wide angle on it. And yea sometimes after battery change it defaults back so I've got in the habit of double checking the focus along with making sure the manual zoom didn't get bumped on. The difference I'm seeing is in resolution-especially noticable when played back full screen. Just wondering if the HC62/96s would make a diff or is an HD cam the only way to increase video quality/resolution seen?

I've been using a Sony dcr-hc42 for FF and WS personal videos. The Sony HC-42 was fine for that. I just started trying video for fun jump RW groups for their own reviews. This is a fun new task in the air! But I have been noticing quite a difference in my video quality vs others posted. I'm still not ready to make a big investment in a camcorder but would like to get higher quality video. I've been looking at upgrading to the HC62 but it looks like the lenses are bout the same as the HC42, and it isn't until you get to the HC96 that there is a significant difference in the lenses. But I'd really like to know if ya'll have seen any real world differences in video quality between any of these cams? Thanks for any and all info!

Granted giving the govt this power would have the potential for abuse-that's a given. I do like the idea of offering to pay them!!!! The recent posts about abortion and all the unwanted kids made me want to throw out some things that have been stuck in my head for a while now.... And I'm genuinely interested if anyone else would be truly serious about it also. And I realize that it would never be done in this society what with ACLU etc etc. but I digress..... A couple cases are below but I put in the option "depends on severity of abuse"also. When kids are abused to the point that the parents go to jail and the kids go to CPS (or the morgue) I really would like to see lifetime mandatory sterilization of the parents implemented. When you see the mother bring along her 12 yr old daughter because her dirtbag boyfriend wants a threesome with her, I just don't see that the mother should have anymore chances to do it again...... Or the 1 yr old's head is caved in on the kitchen counter because he wouldn't stop crying.... After seeing the hell that some of these kids go thru I can't help but wonder if abortion wouldn't have been the better option-but short of that at least keep these POS from having a chance to have another kid and do it again....

This is not to slam any manufacturer as I realize that there is a lot of R&D etc. that has to be covered in costs. But realizing the mark up on a lot of items from gasoline to jewelry to whatever that can be seen in the wide range of prices to be found got me wondering.... (Especially since all of our dollars feel a lot tighter nowadays!)
