It's my necklace I ordered from Pammi & Merrick. It may not be a new rig, but it sure feels like a high-value item when I'm wearing it. My thanks to Pammi & Merrick for a quality product and timely shipping. Bob Yes, I know it is snowing. No, we are not putting the top up.

Air Force MEPS a/k/a: From worst to best in twelve hours...
BobB replied to BobB's topic in The Bonfire
I didn't expect this much response (or any response for that matter..and certainly not this quickly). It helps to know I'm not the only one who has had such issues. Thanks. Bob Yes, I know it is snowing. No, we are not putting the top up. -
Air Force MEPS a/k/a: From worst to best in twelve hours...

Thanks for the input. Clearly, I agree that MEPS blows. As for my DZ trip...it was, in fact, a trip of the kick-ass persuasion. Jumping with Brian from Kansas, watching a girl from England do a tandem jump...I can't get over it. I wish I could frame it...it was so awesome. It's all I think about now. It's not the greatest read, but, today, NO SHIT, THERE I WAS...having the time of my life....nothing else mattered...the way it's supposed to be. Yes, I know it is snowing. No, we are not putting the top up. -
Air Force MEPS a/k/a: From worst to best in twelve hours...
BobB replied to BobB's topic in The Bonfire
Warning: This is a long post (obviously)...which I don't actually expect anyone to read...I am just so impressed by how skydiving took me to a calm place when I felt so disproportionately out of place that I had to put it here. It's kind of personal stuff, but for some reason I don't feel any reservation at all posting it here. I've been trying to get into the Air Force. Today I had a physical at MEPS. It didn't go well and I was pissed about it. What follows is basically a cut and paste from an email I sent my dad regarding the day's events. I'm only posting it here because it shows how effective skydiving was in turning my day completely around, despite all the little events which served to get me really worked up. I noticed a couple of Air Force related threads recently. If anyone has any experience with consults and how much of a hassle it is to get a waiver I would appreciate any info. I just had what I consider to be one of the best days ever. It would not have been possible without skydiving. Now that I know how profound an effect it can have on things, I appreciate it even more. Thanks for the link. It buffers, then downloads a codec...then says "Error downloading codec" I get the same error when trying to watch: http://www.freefall.com/images/webcam/videos/cajun_chickens/cajun_chickens_big.wmv But, the other videos on that page (http://www.freefall.com/other_video.htm) play fine. (note: xp pro, athlon 850, windows mp ver 8.00.blah.blah) Good old Micro$oft...maybe I should just boot into Slackware . Yes, I know it is snowing. No, we are not putting the top up.

I'm doped up on NyQuil, so forgive me if this is a stupid question: Where are the webcam links? I'd like to see if Chuck and the rest of the Raeford gang are enjoying it. Yes, I know it is snowing. No, we are not putting the top up.

For the first time in years I am sick with some kind of cold . The sunshine and blue skies are laughing at me. My new dropzone.com t-shirt is laughing with equal fortitude . I'd love to be jumping, but I would rather not experience explosive cranial decompression on the plane . I really wanted to be in Raeford today, too. As of last weekend they had 22 tandems scheduled. I wanted to see how they pulled this off with so many folks at Rantoul. Time for another shot of NyQuil...ugghhhh this is not fun. Yes, I know it is snowing. No, we are not putting the top up.

5' 10" - 140lbs I look at tandem rigs and laugh. I can't imagine wearing one of those. The smallish student Javs I wear seem heavy to me. Don't think I'll be getting a tandem rating anytime soon Yes, I know it is snowing. No, we are not putting the top up.

I'm glad you're considering getting a bike. They are an absolute blast. I've been riding for over two years. I've still got the first bike I ever bought (a 1985 Honda Shadow 500 - pic attached). I got lucky and found it in good condition for USD$1500. My Honda is quite light and was not overly intimidating to me when I started. It may be a 500, but it will get to 60mph in under six seconds and will EASILY cruise in excess of 90mph. Now I have to say this since I believe in it: Take a motorcyle safety course approved by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation!! They supply everything (including motorcycles). This is a great way to "test the waters" and see if you really enjoy it. Most importantly though, you will learn things that WILL save your life on a motorcycle. I can honestly state that I would not be alive today if I hadn't taken that course. It's that good. Good luck and keep us posted on your endeavor. Yes, I know it is snowing. No, we are not putting the top up.
