I think, that you should more trust your instructor than guys who confuse you. During my AFF progression I did note olny positive difference between PD Navigator 260 and Navigator 220 (more confident and soft landings and of course more fun on turns:)). Difference between Navigator 220 and spectre 170 was a litlle bit more significant, but my weight is litle bit higher than yours:). I'm not so sure in this case. I'll most likely get flamed by some instructor from Belgium, but this does NOT sound like good advise to me. And her confusion is just her common sense kicking in. First of all Tom with your one year in the sport and one hundred jumps and you most likely don't weight 100 pounds. WHY ARE YOU OFFERING ADVISE? Secondly. Here. And yes, a 120 is really small. Which do you think more unsafe: - You go up in 20 mph winds and find yourself coming straight down or backing up a bit because your canopy is too lightly loaded. - You go up in 20 mph winds and as soon as you turn downwind you are hauling ass and loose more altitude than you intended. You have NO time to think about your reaction. I'm not saying jump a canopy that will back you up in 20 mph. But find the sweet spot. Because based on personal experience and experience as an instructor, it is senario #2 that injurs and kills. If a person is intimidated by speed, that persons learning curve will be VERY slow as well as unsafe. I agree with the $800.00. But it still has a couple few hundred jumps before it needs a reline. Silhouette 190 is a popular size for that canopy. It is an awesome canopy with a strong flare. What? Yes, the reserve is marked indicating a pack job, and yes and X indicates a reserve ride, but it is not a "strike" against the canopy. Any canopy that ages has to have a porosity and stress test. And as far as a reline goes, if the price is right, I see no harm in buying the canopy and sending it off for a reline or having a local rigger reline it for you. Often times you can find a sweet deal because the owner doesn't want to be bothered shipping it in. And would rather just take the loss and be done with it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! I got my rating on jump #389. I got good marks on the air stuff, but I was really lacking on the ground instruction. I got by that one by the skin of my teeth. When I went out into the real world I spent some extra time learning to teach (and to spot!) Anything can be done. Just be sure you know what your motivation is. Is it an ego boost? Where the hell are all of these supposed anit-Christmas people congregating? Not in my neighborhood. My daughter has not offended a single person this season as she merrily chants Merry Christmas to EVERYONE she encounters. All I've seen it produce are smiles. And that is in San Francisco, Oakland, The Greater Bay Area as well as my little cow poke town of Byron. In fact I never heard of ANYONE complaining about how others celebrate the holiday until I peek in on SC. Instead of focusing on the negativity of such a small percentage of people, why not have a good look around. Look at the faces of children. Share a Holiday smile with a stranger. Place a little something in that Salvation Army Tin. I don't know what world you live in, but I see NONE of this shit in my daughters school. I went to her Christmas play on Tuesday. There were Christmas Trees and Santa Claus and Stars of David, a Muslum Teacher, and all the kids sang a song about "Laying the Baby Jesus in the manger.... Oh my Lord."
