  1. Are you saying that it had a 4-year inspection or factory inspection AFTER it took a drink? If not, I would be keen on seeing you send it in for inspection. If so, and it got a clean bill of health, then I would go for it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  2. Jumping in dry, hot conditions.... windy... dusty... perhaps a new line set every 600 jumps is in order? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  3. From a gear dealers perspective, I say buy a new one! But in all practicality, you can have it tested to determine air worthiness. If you decide to get a new one, there are lots of requests for old parachutes. They usually sell for a couple hundred bucks. Especially a prestine reserve. Sounds like a personal choice. Let us know how it turns out. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  4. You will not be wing loading at 1:1. Wing loading takes into consideration the weight of the gear. About 25 lbs. Without any other variables, I would not recommend this as your first canopy. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  5. Exactly right for the pros. The only cons that I am aware of are: Not low profile. (Catches more air) Scores low on style points. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  6. If it's not a 3, I would put a value of $2,200 - $2,500 on the gear. It looks to be in great shape. If you want to give someone a great deal, you can go below that. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  7. Yes. That's true. But when there is a will, there is a way. Like payment plans, piecing together great finds, etc. Working off the rig in my store! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  8. Lottie is a nice person and all that..... unless you get her too drunk, but that's another story. She'not just a pretty face if that's what you think. She is hard core. Not quite Marta... yet... but she has a few good years ahead of her to reach the ranks of Marta, or Annie. She's just a girl livin' the dream. Can't knock that! Respect. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  9. A canopy sort of develops a "memory" of shape. If you can, just throw it over your shoulder and do a "Field Pack". Go through the motions of flaking it and folding it. So when you put it in your gear bag, at least is has the folds in the right places, and it's not all crinkled up. It will make it easier to pack in the future. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! 10. The good news is that skydiving gear doesn't depreciate too much unless there is a major safety change. Like tuck flaps, etc. To some people $1,500 more is impossible. As for the cypres. It sucks that is a supply and demand game big time. I get pissed reading the classifieds. But a new Cypres2 is around $1,300.00. And that is just out of reach for a lot of people. So $500 for 4 more years is a realistic alternative. There are loads of used gear opportunities for well under $3k. But one or more components will likely be compromised. His set up is both modern and high quality gear. And yes. You can still get all new gear for $4,500. Not the components you jump. Both PD and Javelin have had price increases since your purchase. Don't know if you have a cypres one or two.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  11. Any grommet issues in the main pack tray? Could the PC bridle have been wrapped around the main D-bag? Could the PC bridle have been wrapped under/around any line stows? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  12. I tend to take a better look at jumpers over 220 lbs. body weight. Then I look at each component of their gear and determine the first likely failure point. It's usually not the risers. My number one concern is the reserve and reserve risers. The harness/container system. The main and main risers are next on the list. Second only because failure here offers a second chance. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  13. In an effort to avoid retaining negative energy, I just click delete and let go of the anxiety at that point. Gravity Gear!
  14. I think bigger jumpers will likely not be adding weight. >> When people use their risers (front) for turns, they use dive loops which are made out of 1" material on both Type 17 and Type VIII risers.
  15. For rigs with 190s and smaller, it is common practice to have mini risers, unless there is some substantial wing loading going on. From a resale perspective, the minis would be a good choice. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  16. Sangiro, This person e-mailed me directly, so it was either from my own web site or from enclave.com. You are doing a great job at keeping the loonies at bay! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  17. I would imagine that 33% are being sarcastic, because this is an asinine question. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  18. Hee Hee. Check out good ole Lloyds timing here. Just got this one this morning: >> Hello There How are you doing? Thanks for the email and I will like to see some photos of the Complete rig . I am willing to pay $3,100 for the Complete Rig. Right now i'm out of town on business and won't be able to test drive the Rig. I will just have to believe you on issues about the condition of the Complete rig . As for payment, I will instruct my accountant to issue a cheque of $6,850. as i am not in the US at the moment. Once you receive the cheque i will like you to deduct your payment of $3,100 and then you will have to wire the excess amount to my shipper via Money Gram the moment you receive the cheque so that he can immediately come for collection of the Complete rig . Pls let me know if i can trust you in wiring the excess funds to my shipper the same day you receive the cheque, as you know it is not easy to trust people nowadays. Note: my shipper will be picking up some other heavy Automobiles for me in the US, including the Complete rig i am buying from you, this is why his shipping fee is that much. This way you will be free from shipping hastles and stress, as my shipper will come over to your place for collection and shipping of the Complete rig once he receives the funds. And if you are okay with this way of payment, pls mail me your full details (Name, address and phone numbers) so that my client can send you the payment. Hope to hear from you soon. Best wishes to you and your family. Lloyd. Gravity Gear!
  19. Where do you jump? Chance are there is something right on your own DZ. Hollister, Lodi, Davis or Byron? All likely have a canopy coach without the formal advertising of some of the bigger DZs. Ask around. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  20. My bottom line when I discuss this option with my customers is this. People/skydivers are creatures of habits. Mostly every skydiver these days will downsize in the future. They'll downsize to a canopy that will most definately benfit from a collapsable slider. If you are on the boarder of standard or collapsable, please consider that you will be learning to pack and ingraining into your mucsle memory NOT collapsing a pilot chute. If/when you get to the point where a collapsable PC would be beneficial, you'll be more prone to forgetting to cock your PC than someone who has always cocked it, because that is what they were taught and that is what they've done for the last 500 jumps. I rarely see anyone forgetting to walk their slider up or stow their lines. If cocking a pilot chute is and always has been part of the packing proceedure, then the odds of that step being forgotten are slim. On the other hand if you pack 500 parachutes without cocking a PC, then you downsize and get one... well, you can see how the odds for forgetting would be much higher. Just my opinion. Worth what you paid for it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  21. I've also had a few hits from Lloyd Fisher. Ass Hat. That's all I have to say. I get several scam hits a month. It's why I process all of my web orders manually, so I can verify before I process cards or weed out any unusualy payment requests. It's annoying. Nigeria and Indonesia are big red flags. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  22. Unfortunatly some TI's dont have the nads to tell the DZO or DZM that they refuse to jump the gear in that condition, for fear of losing their job maybe? But that is definately not the case here. Since the primary TMs are also our DZMs. And they are both very concerned with their own safety as well as that of their TMs and students. The whole issue occured when our steering lines started to wear prematurely. Again. The situation has been identified, verified and rectified. And out of respect for our rigger, I would have to say that we have one of the best in the industry. But he does not jump them every day. So it is up to the TMs and packers to report that to him. All of which happened. Be safe. Ed ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  23. Or maybe for smaller pack volume? Or maybe for ease of riser use? And yes to get the slider down with greater ease. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  24. It looks like the MLW is the right length. It seems to fit from the side view. It looks tight over the shoulders. The chest strap looks too short. The chest strap is an easy fix. Over the shoulders is not. If you rotate the rig up a bit and sinch down the chest strap a bit more, does it dig into your shoulders? Too uncomfortable to skydive in? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  25. First of all, the red will not clash with your color choices. It will look nice. Not sure why you would want that particular handle to blend in to the rest of your rig. Second. Where your emergency proceedures drilled to "Look Red"? If so. I think red is an excellent color choice. In a high stress situation, jumpers will tend to revert to their initial training. So if you were trained to look red, please consider that in your color choice. Fashion points should not be a factor. As I said. Red looks great with Blue, Black and Grey. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
