I'll compensate you with $400 for the (efforts and western union charges)running around in sending the balance to my shipper.. I'll need your datas for the cheque to get to you soonest.." Not the oldest scam in the book, but come on! So. I stole an idea from a friend of mine. Play along with it. I'm going to see how many of these "Cashiers Checks" I can collect. I'll post pics when my first trophy arrives. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  9. So you can do all the super secret calculations that you want. It all boils down to Economics 101: "It's all about supply and demand." Just plug in $950 and $1000. And take a round number somewhere in between. That should be fair. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  10. New Cypres (original) are no longer on the market. The last ones were being sold at $900 - $1,000. From my observations, the market is generally plugging in about $1,000. The the best value for your money, but if you don't have $1,300 for a new one your kinda stuck with what supply and demand dictates. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  11. I have a beautiful 5 year old daughter. I've been jumping for 12 years. I struggle with this question every day. It's not just a decision that you get to make once and you're done. At least not for me. In my experience, I would rather be a role model for my daughter. Do I want her to grow up thinking that the most important part of life is going to the mall and starbucks and residing safely in suburbia? That might work for some, but it just not me. Being myself and being truely happy from within seems to be more important to me than trying to stay extra safe. In the end we can't predict fate. We can only live a full and saticfying life. That's what I want for my daughter. I do make careful choices about my skydiving. Educate yourself about the gear, the planes and become as self reliant as possible. Make good choices. Have fun and be safe. Show your children a Mommy who is beaming with happiness. Works for me. Your milage may vary. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  12. I'm still getting used to the fact that I'm married too, and it will be 7 years next month! I'm good. Long time Quack. Still a CRW Dog I see. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  13. Before Bob left, he brought Jett (my 5 year old daughter) a box of Shannon's things to pass on to her. In that box was Shannon's skate board. I was cleaning out my car yesterday and Jett pulled the skate board out for the first time, put on her helmet and her black Vans with the little pink frogs on them and proceeded to skate up and down the sidewalk. She just really got into it and practiced for about an hour. That skateboard has been sitting in our back yard like a symbol of Shannon, but it was untouched until yesterday. She looked so cute with her pig tails, half shell and Vans skating on Shannons board. I just said, "Shannon would be so proud of you Jett!" "Why Mommy?" "Because part of her spirit has been passed on to you." Now I just logged on and read this. All I can say is "Wow". Crying, yes. But happy and proud. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! 14. With a name like Target, it shouldn't be too hard to come up with a logo. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  15. Steve, Please don't give up my secret. Eveyone on here thinks I'm really cool and smart and, and, and gosh darn it, people like me. Only my "in person" friends know my true retarded identity. Shhhhhhh. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  16. Congrats! Well done. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  17. So my husband (a pilot) and I are looking at renting a plane to fly around. We're looking at the different airplanes offered at a particular club. He says, "We can take that one" I reply, "Hmmm. How many seats in that one?" "It's a 182." "Yeah? How many seats does it have?" I've never been in a Cessna with seats before. I was just waiting for someone to say, "Here's your sign." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  18. I vote Skydive San Diego. Great Planes Great Instructors Great Weather and a kick ass gear store! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  19. Actually Raff, I think you're missing my point here. I asked because, I'm wondering if I am being too picky or paranoid about another JM dumping a student unannounced, and I wondered if it was even worth bringing up. I think you know me well enough to know that I'm not a shit stirrer. In fact, I'm more of the "Can't we all just get alone" type. Maybe I should have just PM'ed a few AFF-Is. That's a good point. But to be honest, I doubt if anyone concerned reads these forums, and I doubt anyone reading these forums gives a shit who the other JM is. She is a great teacher. I've just never flown with her before. And it's not too late. I will chat with her. If we're gonna fly as a team, I want to be on the same page. Thanks for the input. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  20. With our set up at this DZ a "Go Around" may not be such a simple proceedure. But my point is that in the conditions on that particular day, he did not need such a long separation. If he was too close to the group on his previous jump, perhaps there were other factors. Backsliding, tracking, 2 sec delay, etc. My offer was for him to come seek a professional opinion instead of guessing and possibly overcompensating. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! 22. No sweetheart, you don't suck. Trust your instincts. I just came off a 4 month "Vibe Hold", and I have a couple thousand jumps, AFFI, fly a small fast parachute, etc. But as a Mom, when things don't feel right, I don't jump. Who cares what anyone else thinks. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  23. LOL! My skin is pretty thick. I guess when I asked her if she knew she had pulled him out at 5.5 the first time, I figure she would pick up what I was putting down and look at me on the second skydive and perhaps let the student pull. I like what Robert said. Explains the cons of pulling without notice and ask for eye contact and communication in the future. Thanks for the input ya'll. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  24. Lot's of good questions. First off, I have had my rating for about 10 years. I have about 700 AFF jumps. I just came back from a 4 month LOA, and I have never done AFF at this DZ. So I'm trying to observe and ask questions as to protocol for this DZ. I don't know the other JMs experience level. In fact I got thrown into the rotation on a 10 minute call. The spot was good. The student was normal. I tried to make eye contact several times with the other JM. Nothing. There were a lot of signals being flashed from the main side in quick succession. It is my impression that she might be fairly new. But I don't want to assume. I did ask after the first jump if she pulled him out at 5.5. She said, when the student is all "unstable" like that, she would rather be safe than sorry. The only unstability I saw was from his reactions to the quick signal changes. I mean, you can't just throw a hips down and follow it up with a legs out and an alti check, and then back to hips down. I have the distinct impression that I am perceived as the FNG, so I didn't say anything. But I anticipated it on the next jump. So now I do want to say something. I'm just trying to come up with a diplomatic approach. Suggestions? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
  25. It did happen again. On the very next jump. It sucks that the student didn't get the opportunity to pull himself, but it sucks more that my face was in the danger zone. I've been kicked in the face by a deploying student before. I like a little warning so I can "assume the position" to guard myself. I'll bring it up with the JM. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
