Yup. One in the same. And Charles did name his boy Rocket! Niclas has a boy now too, but the name is not Dude. It is Jamie. Now that you mention it, I think I'll start calling him Dude. Here is a pic of Jett and Jamie. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

If you jump in shorts or street clothes, make sure loose clothing is secure. Any bit of cloth that catches air will flop all over the place and possibly cover your handles. Main, reserve and cutaway. So consider wearing a long shirt that you can tuck all the way down inside your shorts and past your leg straps. The other concern is road rash. Jumpsuit is safer, but..... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

The toilet facilities at your DZ. Are they ........
GravityGirl replied to TheBile's topic in The Bonfire
They actually change them on Monday. They just sit there all clean for two whole days! That is unless the wind blows them down! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear! -

Go with Sherrys suggestions. Her creative skills rock! IMHO, it will look more fluid and natural that way. Instead of a carbon copy of your legs tranfered to your arms. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Let your doctor know that you will be in 120+ mph wind. (Consider jumping a full face helmet. ) Ask about the affects of adrenaline, etc. Good luck ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Hi Brian! I finally got all that pop corn cleaned up! But anyway... Your leg thing.... This is minor in the big picture. It's a pretty easy fix too. Try throwing some pillows down in front of the sofa. Then lay on the ground, belly down. Rest the tops of your feet on the sofa at a 45 degree angle like you would in freefall. (Except there is no sofa in freefall.) Apply some pressure to the sofa and arch. Remember to really feel that sofa with your feet. Just do some of these drills every now and then until your next jump. Build it into your muscle memory. During a jump you will always apply some pressure with your legs. After a while you won't even have to think about it. We weren't born in freefall. It's not natural to be arching and pushing down from your shins. After some ground practice and another skydive, you'll get your mind thinking that this position is not so bad, your body will kinda dig it and you'll be flying. That's why we have 7 levels. So we can practice this stuff. If you already knew how to do it, we wouldn't need any levels. Kick ass up there tomorrow and I'll see ya when I see ya! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Broken steering line and bruised tailbone

Hmmm. In your FJC, were you taught that if your canopy does not pass a controlability test, then you should cut away and pull your reserve? IMHO (as an AFF-I). The first thing you should do on opening is a controlability test. This is most important if you notice a problem. If you cannot turn right, turn left and flare you may want to consider getting another canopy over your head. Had you considered cutting away? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! If you are comfortable with the standard PC, then go with it. On the size of parachute you have, it shouldn't affect the flight performance noticably. If in doubt, try a couple of jumps back to back for comparison. Then decide for yourself. I think a good deal of this sport is about confidence and comfort. Try both, then choose what you feel is right for you. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

If I took it into my shop to sell on consignment, I would replace it. Maintenance and replace items such as risers, pilot chute, lines and d-bags. Those are the wear and tear items. How many jumps are on those risers? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Tim Straus does what we would call the spiral of death. Up in Tahoe with the wide open spaces. It was pretty much get over the top and start turning until you landed.... ....ah those were the days. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

My ex-team mate, landed out back in the 80s on a night jump. She was low experience. She went for the lit clearing. Lights flooded the yard. She was spotted! Right in the middle of a boys prison. They kindly escorted her out. Is that how it went Steph? Peter, you out there? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Hard to say, because I have a big mouth and everyone on the drop zone calls me "Mom" 'cause I act like one. It would be a cold day in hell that I didn't mention something that I NOTICED. But lets just say I had better things to do, like concentrate on my own skydive, etc. If the person was not my student and under my direct supervision, I don't think I should be reprimanded for not saying anything. HOWEVER! As an instructor and a prominent person at my home here, I would reprimand myself and have some serious internal struggles for the forthcoming days. Because as a PERSON if I see something unsafe and say nothing and the results are catastrophic.... well.... that is hard to live with. Nobody needs to tell me that I coulda shoula woulda, I can take care of that myself. Being a USPA instructor does not make you a "know all", "see all". If it was my student on that load that was in violation of a BSR, then I am responsible. If it was a random jumper on the plane, then I am not. If an USPA Instructor had to watch and catch everything on every load, they would become an unsafe jumper themselves. At some point you have to take care of yourself. Make sure your gear is in order. Concentrate on your skydive. And yes! Even relax on the ride to altitude. What is your impression of a USPA Instructors responsabilities? . ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! This one is of concern. Happens all the time. Extra altitude. There are too many what ifs in your question. It's hard to understand what you are asking.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
