Hey AggieDave, we seem to have taken a thread from trolling to gun control....can I get some help here? -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

And so I started to feed it breadcrumbs, and it nearly took my finger off. And then I thought....ah, that will teach me, never feed the trolls. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

Yeah, that is pretty accurate. He was jumping a 1975 Mk.1 PC in 'clown colors'. Obviously he deployed by 2k, because the BSRs say so. However, historically speaking Kim is from an era where sometimes openings were at 1200+-. That being said, Kim had a sleeve lock, the bridal was in a knot around the sleeve, it never came off. Fuller worked the capewells, like an SOB, and pulled silver. He got line stretch and inflation just prior to hitting. He landed reclined in dirt that was just a bit more firm than mud. Fuller admits one more second and he would have been toast. He was in the hospital for a few days for observation. He suffered some blurred vision and a concussion. I showed up from lunch just as CareFlite was loading up, and was pretty freaked out. As soon as I turned on the airport road I saw the blades spinning at the end of the field and got that sick feeling. Fuller is indeed still pissed that they cut off "the best fitting harness I ever had" I can however say the PC is alive and well, and have jumped it twice myself...oddly enough, now that I think about it, I think I was the first one to jump it after that day. Going through emergency training with capewells was fun Anyway, the amazing Fuller lives, and is on a hardcore diet to los weight so he can jump "margaret" again. I would love to fly a hybrid, sitflying in a 4-pin container, and Fuller would be just the one to help. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

Cool, well I am sure he says hello. He is flying at Eagle Flight in granbury and Skydive Aggieland, depending on the weekend. And yeah, he spent some time at Pepperrell when he was getting back into the sport after his kids. He has some great stories of Texas jumping in the 60s and 70s. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

How does it 'verify' said email address? Mine is a 'real' email, but I never check it and it is chock full of spam. Is it important that the syntax be correct? Or must it function and respond? -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

Fair price for balloon jumps?
flyingferret replied to The111's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
He has a point there. So, wait until you get another license then enjoy the rush. In any case, the acceleration coupled with ground rush is awesome. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI. -
Fair price for balloon jumps?
flyingferret replied to The111's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Depends on a lot of factors, fuel, loading, weather, etc. I would say 3-5K. I dont think I have heard any 'amatuer' balloon jumps above 5 or so. My first one was from 3, and I think I like it better that way. You get a falling feeling and some ground rush...pretty cool. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI. -
Wendy, did you jump with Doc Stewart in those days? I have heard many stories of converting the otter every weekend. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

Fair price for balloon jumps?
flyingferret replied to The111's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
While quade seems to have taken you quite literally, I take your question to mean if that is an average accepted price. Typically balloon jumps are $75+ In my opinion, they are worth every cent. My first ballon jump was my greatest rush since my first jump. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI. -

I have jumped one of those, known as Lucille, the Clown PC. Owned by a crazy Texan...nice ride though. Brisk opening he says...HA...thanks. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

Well, after seeing the responses, I guess you may have to clarify 'enterprise' a bit more. I think responding from the point of a very complicated topology, for which I say go PIX, even though we are getting it done without PIX. For simpler stuff, that may not be required. If you have the right staff, you can also just harden a linux distro and run IP tables, for simple stuff. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

Dude, I feel you. We run a dedundant load balancing 'sandwich' with our checkpoints. For the main connection anyway, also have a few DMZes. Bottom line, load balancing complicates things greatly. The device has to be able to sort on a session level by one method or another, otherwise, you kill SSL connections to secure sites. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

Go PIX. You can manage it via CLI or use a newer GUI from Cisco, part of the CiscoWorks suite. We use Checkpoint, and it has been nothing but a pain in the ARSE. I work for an unnamed financial firm that process about 5% of the daily trades on the NYSE market. The amount of data is insane, and the topology of our network, makes a lot of vender engineers, look at the whiteboard and go...hmmm. So in a simpler setting, maybe checkpoint. But I am with 15 feet of 3 security admins that would gladly be rid of it. We use Checkpoint NG. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

nice thread. I like: Allan Scott Sauvignon Blanc (NZ) Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio (IT) $10 +-, but if they are good, why pay more. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

Just my $.02, but I would highly recommend a book called "The 5 love Languages" By Gary Chapman. It basically sums up the idea of work, and why some have it and some don't. It made perfect sense to me, and left me thinking why didn't I see that. Quick summary: Every relationship has an in love period where you think that person is eliminates all other concerns in the world. Sooner or later this changes, it transitions. This is where many people lose hope, because the bliss is not there. But this is where love really comes in. The author believes (and so do I) that love is a choice and not an emotion, although it has great emotional benefits. After the in love stage, both people have to choose love to keep going. After that, the 5 languages come in. Basically, everyone speaking a different dialect of love, which can kind of be grouped into 5 langauges: touch, words of affirmation, acts of service, gifts, and quality time. Based on upbringing, personality, etc. actions from one catergory or another might communicate love to you more than another. Often times lovers do not speak the same language. Many times couples fail because each thinks that they are loving and getting feedback. Because, very intuitively they are offering gestures that would mean love to them. They love how they would like to be loved. If you realize this and learn your partners love language it is amazing what you see. It is amazing how the idea of work changes to "understanding another human soul" which can be very very enjoyable. This book really really solidified how I think about relationship, and with a partner that shares the same concept, I have never felt loved the way I do now. The book is a short read, couple hundred pages, about $11. Even if you end up hating it, give it a shot, it might really affect you. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

Yeah I am interested! Trying to beat a cold, might be coming down in the morning. So, halfway definitely sounds good, rather then jumping at dark-thirty.
