Perhaps we need a "ring of Fire" jump at AOT...eh, Dave? -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

Did you see the Gollum acceptance speech on MTV? WOW....awesome. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

on that note, I have to comment on Gollum. I have read the book many times, and I always understand Gandalf's pity for gollum, but never really felt it. Watching TTT, and the smeagol/gollum debate, I felt it for the first time. They make him pity-able. And he is not even a 'real' character. That is still one of the most impressive arguments to me about how different mediums have different strengths. I am always amazed when I hear people say they hated that scene... -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

A side note to the Cypres question
flyingferret replied to LawnDart21's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If we were all politely walked off after making a mistake that could have killed us, the sport would be pretty empty. Many of us look back, and go oh, crap. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI. -
How much do you trust your cypres?
flyingferret replied to Harksaw's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
There are a number of factors here, like what reserve and who packed it. I just think every jump is a risk, and any jump that paid $100 Mil would be worth considering. I am sure that the Airtec guys believe in their product, if for no other reason than our litigatious society. Now if it ran an O/S, no, and no again. My theory is if you trust it enough to pay $1000 for it and it not malfunction and kill you, you might as well. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI. -
Afterall, it is Peter Jackson...he is in the film, several times. He is practically Hobbit. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

A few of us (freefliers) dressed up as Pirates for Pirates of the Carribean. One of the funniest things I have ever been a part of. Incredible, really...we had a truck turned into a ship and everything... -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

In case you have not heard, they are re-releasing the first two in extended version for viewing in theaters prior to the ROTK. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

How much do you trust your cypres?
flyingferret replied to Harksaw's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hell yeah, I would. I know a certain videographer that did without meaning to, did not make a cent, and is still a very cool cat to fly with. Has Airtec ever been sued? just curious, I have not heard of it. I think electronics like the cypres are pretty reliable. Would I bet on it? for a $100 mil, yeah! I would for probably a mil. However I would request a short drop and higher altitude just to limit damages to myself. And a packjob from Todd. I think there is way more chance in a bad pack than a bad cypres. And if you still disagree.... Well everyone is calculating the odds, calculate the odds for any skydive, nothing guarantees your life as soon as you leave the plane. AND...we pay to take that risk. There was a time when the equipment was the dangerous part of this sport. I think that time is mostly gone. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI. -
Looks at him in AWE, "He's the one...." "Least intimidating tree" that line has echoed along the guadelupe over many beers. Congrats on the A, especially with dave. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

Word is our inaccuracy all over the other countryside last year has ruled that out... I see no reason why we can't hold an impromptu one on our own.

Rumor is (I am trying to get confirmation from John) that John Chisam of VIBE is doing the freefly coaching. And Perry Perkins will be doing canopy coaching. We are making plans for hit and chug, and I plan on resurrecting some sort of school "monk" drinking ritual -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

Yeah, they are a lot of fun. Very nice end to the day. My longest is about 11 miles, my shortest was 2 miles that was supposed to make 5

Actually I am. I think I would have much more trouble packing a parachute blind than jumping. Maybe that is my perception, I don't know. But not only does he pack, he trusts them to a 'blind' check for malfunctions. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

Phonebooth is FINALLY coming out.. what do you guys think?
flyingferret replied to kevin922's topic in The Bonfire
I dont plan on seeing it. A) I am absolutely sick and tired of being force fed the trailer for close to a year B) It looked pretentious and pretty unrealistic anyway C) Watching a phone booth for 90 minutes. No thanks. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI. -

As a matter of fact, the Wings manual, indicates that you may pack their dbag either way. I have not yet tried it, but I plan on it. I think the rig simply looks flatter if the dbag laid with the lines at the bottom of the rig. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.

Okay, I already told dave I was going to bed. But....my advice...accept yourself. I spent half of school making sure I was doing the work before play. But I always procrastinated, but only had 50% fun because I knew I was breaking my own rules. Later on, I decided to just have fun, but set a deadline, when I hit it I had to start working. Either way, i goofed off first, but the second was made it much more productive. Honestly, a lot of my software and papers produced on the last night are my best stuff...seriously. -- All the flaming and trolls of wreck dot with a pretty GUI.
