The origin of Bush's plan to remove Saddam

Fine. But we were already in Afganistan, fighting a war against terrorism. Seems that one still isn't finished yet. I fully supported kicking the shit out of the Taliban, and OBL (Where is he BTW?) but happen to think that we picked the wrong fight in Iraq. We should have finished the job in Afganistan, eliminated the warlords and the opium production and opened a Wal-Mart in Karachi. Could have fought the war in that field of rocks just as easily and we hdidn't need to make anything up to justify that war. illegible usually -
I had heard about Maytag, but that is just downright scary. China is already buying record levels of our debt, I guess we'll just sell them the rest of the country as well. I really have to say that I never thought a Republican president would sell our country to the PRC. It's all about $$$ (and power) but I guess it's all ok though as long as we don't allow any gays to marry. illegible usually

Unfortunately Oregon is one ofthe few states where assisted suicide is legal, even then you have to have two doctors declare you about to die anyway. And they won't let you use a gun, you have to give them pills that they have to take themselves. Tis a shame in my opinion - lot's of folks out there that would be better off removed from the available gene pool. illegible usually

The primary difference is the imaging chip size, not the pixel count. The HC90 has 0.33 square inches to collect light on The HC 42 has 0.18 square inches. The larger the imaging chip, the better the camera will perform in low light since more light is hitting the imager. In bright, even light, the video will be tough to tell apart. In low or uneven light, the differences in color and video noise will be very apparent. If you can afford it, go for the bigger chip. (It also has a larger lens - more light=better picture if all other things are equal) Edit to add - the HC 90 has a 30mm filter ring so most WA lens will fit without a step ring. One less thing to break/lose/buy. A minor point but worth consideration. illegible usually

Point conceded. I stand by my statement that it should be made easier to race at a track without having to jump through SCCA's hoops or join an organized club. If you had a way for the punks to kill themselves out of the public's way, it could reduce the threat to those of us that use the roads to get to the DZ. There are a lot of tracks that sit empty most of the time, yet you can't just roll up on a Tuesday afternoon, sign a waiver, pay your $$ and race. Easy enough to do IF the track owner wasn't worried about being sued out of existance when some dickhead with a big wing and fart can flips his Civic. illegible usually

Tom, In reference to I totally agree. The cost is pretty insignificant. SCCA wont let you race the highly modded cars preferred by these guys though. They like to keep the playing field level and only allow very specific mods. It's not the $$ as I stated this is relatively insignificant. Thinking about it it's mostly about the control and ridgidity of these events. The SCCA is a great organization, very safety conscious and I'd highly recommend that anyone really interested in racing attend an event. I was just stating that it's NOT easy to race legally. It requires work and dedication and the ability to prove that you and your car are safe before you are turned loose on a track. Unfortunately there are too few individuals that are capable of this level of responsibility. I also agree with your assessment the prime motivation has more to do with the thrill of the risk. illegible usually

Not to take anything away from the wrongness of what they did but I'd like to try to answer this question. It's tough to race at a track. Mostly due to lawyers. The tracks are so scared that someone will get hurt there are significant hurdles to pass just to run a solo lap. Yeah, it costs $$ but that is relatively insignificant. To actually RACE someone, you pretty much need to be running a spec car in an approved event, after spending a lot of time at the track running in solo events to prove you aren't going to kill anyone or yourself. It's frankley a bit much to be asking of a 18 YO punk ass kid. In addition to making an example of these punks, I'd also argue that there should be cheap easily accessable venues for people that want to really push their cars. Have the jackoffs sign a waiver and let 'em on the track. If they kill themselves - they've just done a bit of work for Darwin. illegible usually

Bump. And this http://www.jvc.com/press/index.jsp?item=461&pageID=1 may accelerate the development. While JVC cams in general dont work for skydiving, and HDD based systems are out, it might spur the competition to make something we can really use. Edit to add this from the Press release Now that really won't do, a camera that senses freefall and shuts off! WTF were they thinking? illegible usually

I do believe that it is the version of Premire that you have. One of Adobe's sneaky ways of forcing you to upgrade. You can export to tape and use a standalone DVD recorder or export to a DV AVI file and then use something else to record the DVD. Or find a copy of Premire Pro... illegible usually

One thing I found interesting was the statement that after the switch ALL Macs would be able to run Windows and OSX. Windows PC's would NOT run OSX. Seems like a good bid to really get market share from MS. Who wouldn't want a platform that could run both? Seems like it would be an easy sell as long as the prices were reasonable (which they promise to be) I hope that AAPL can live off of the profits from iPods and iTunes till the switch is made. Might be a rough sell for Macs till then. illegible usually

Actually the reason is that the development of an herbal remedy has no licensing value. There is a LOT of research for product dev on other derived products (eg: marinol) but if you know you can't make any $$ from it, it would be pretty dumb to invest millions on R&D. illegible usually

Unless you don't have a 'script. The street prices are greatly inflated for all the drugs you listed. Making something illegal always has the effect of increasing the price. illegible usually

That looks nice! Just need a good lens and CCD to feed it. It dies look a bit bulky though and also need a battery pack. It won't be too long before someone puts the whole package together and shrinks it down to a nice manageble unit. Till then I'll keep jumping my PC 330... illegible usually

JVC has a MPEG-2 cam available now but it's not ready for prime time and has no lanc (plus it's a JVC) It would probably work OK though with a 4 gig flash card. Flash is getting cheaper by the month and faster as well illegible usually

What's terminal for a max load Tandem pair?
EricTheRed replied to Deuce's topic in Photography and Video
I dug up this old thread on a search trying to see what the MAX speed for a tandem w/ drogue. We had a BIG guy tandem last weekend I did vid for. I did manage to stay with the pair and recorded an AVG speed of 138 ! My back was definately feeling it from arching hard enough to keep up (down) That was with a pretty quick drogue. I'll try to post the vid when I get my tape back. Red illegible usually
