    Something like that... the blue wavelengths (as well as violet and ultraviolet) are able to refrace through the atmosphere) whereas the other wavelengths are reflected... (kind of like a prism...) near the earth's poles where it atmosphere is thinner and due to ionization effects some of the other wavelengths make it through the atmosphere... and viola we have the aurora borealis... at least I think that's about right...     it isn't so much absorbed as scattered... deflected... and its more or less because of the angle that the light from the sun comes in contact with the atmosphere. my optical physics are very fresh... scattered by nitrogen! which is most of our atmosphere... actually it scatters violet more than blue, but our eyes pick up blue better.... I still can't shake the picture of the cookie monster (who is blue) beating the shit out of elmo and big bird...HAHAHAHA Scars remind us that the past is real

    Don't tempt me! I sit in my office between classes and think "you're a dumb mother f*****" for leaving eloy...." The sad part though is that most of these "students" are education majors and will be teaching soon. So I wield the only power I have - the dreaded F.
