all the marriage stuff has its roots in religion. unfortunately religious beliefs are still mixed up with society issues. even more unfortunately that's not only a problem in non-christian countries but all over the world. where religion & the legislative powers unite shit is due to happen i guess all these guys forget one fundamental thing: laws are manmade, they are not derived from god or any other spiritual entity and therefore they can be changed. edit 4 spelling - still The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle dudeist skydiver # 666

This one's 4 u (& 4 da rest of da bunch) A guy walked into a bar with a pet alligator by his side. He put the alligator up on the bar and turned to the astonished patrons. "I'll make you a deal. I'll open this alligator's mouth and place my genitals inside. Then the gator will close his mouth for one minute. He'll then open his mouth and I'll remove my unit unscathed. In return for witnessing this spectacle, each of you will buy me a drink." The crowd murmured their approval. The man stood up on the bar, dropped his trousers, and placed his privates in the alligator's open mouth. The gator closed his mouth as the crowd gasped. After a minute, the man grabbed a beer bottle and rapped the alligator hard on the top of it's head. The gator opened his mouth and the man removed his genital, unscathed as promised. The crowd cheered and the first of his free drinks was delivered. The man stood up again and made another offer. "I'll pay anyone $100 who's willing to give it a try." A hush fell over the crowd. After a while, a hand went up in the back of the bar. A Blonde woman timidly spoke up, "I'll try, but you have to promise not to hit me on the head with the beer bottle." maybe not the answer you were looking for but give it a thought: how many practical skills did you ever learn out of a book or a video and in how many of them you were sufficient? learning by real observation and doing something under supervision has prooved to be the best way of learning for the last couple a thousand years. i'd stick to that tradition if i were you. and actually this stupidity is sweeping all over the planet bringing foth masses of dumbasses complaining about any fart they can think of. when i was a kid we used to make jokes on swiss people because they seemed pretty weird to us. right now all the weirdness seems to be emanating from the states. ever wondered why there is a warning label on your parachute? stupid voice on/ no i didn't know it was dangerous to (fill in whatever you like) and nobody told me to be carefull... /stupid voice off what really sucks is that peolpe are trained not to take care of themselves and if something should ever happen to their asses theres a laywer who'll go for the big money. one thing on rape: this doesn't have to be discussed. no mercy on these s&%*theads who rape women. they should receive the same thing in return. putting up laws simply doesn't work The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle dudeist skydiver # 666

AFF help! - stopping a(n unwanted) turn?
feuergnom replied to Fireflyer's topic in Safety and Training
unintentional turn cost me three rejumps. then - on the third one - my JM decided to just let me dive out and find him in front of me and to focus on him. that stabilized my turns to nil. problem solved. but thats just my experience. don't stress yourself - you'll make it. if i could do it you will too blues The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle dudeist skydiver # 666 -
WHAT? i can't believe this is true! i've met some TM's with a kinda relaxed attitude but every single one of them is damn sure that their passengers harness is adjusted correctely and exactely in the way they prefer it to be done before boarding. that could really turn into a problem - cause i think i am sitting right here in the middle - 8 hours ahead of the states and 8 hours after sunset in sidney but once in a while i make it not be completely out of sync

How long did it take you to decide on a career?
feuergnom replied to SkydiveNFlorida's topic in The Bonfire
sometimes it's just like you notice a door you have't seen before. something opens up and your path changes to a direction you never thought it would it wouild turn to. happend to me since i started working some 20 years ago. Worked inb a bookstore till i was literally fed up - ladafreind mentioned a job in a bar/restaurant. they didn't need a barman though so i found myself running the kitchen for two years. went back to the books only to realise that train had definitely left, ran across a guy doing massages and decided to learn it. became o professional therapist. met my girlfriend there. she started writing for a magazine and asked if i could help a friend with writing. i wanted. that was sic years ago and right now i run a magazine myself. and this is definitely not the last choice i will make or have to make. my adivice: do what you want to do, give it a try and see if it's satisfying. if not be open for everything that comes. and for sure it will turn out allright. Felix Baumgartner to Cross the Channel -- Press Release
feuergnom replied to quade's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
so felix is on the news again and he's drumming for publicity... or is it just red bull as his sponsor that gets nervous after years of waiting for that thing to happen? anyway: hope everything will turn out good even if he doesn't make it from coast to coast The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle dudeist skydiver # 666 -
Tandam Progression or AFF
feuergnom replied to andie2skydive's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
like i tried to explain in my post (sorry if i got sucked to deep off topic to make myself understood clearly): The point is that you are strapped to a trained pilot who is able to give direct input whilst in freefall without the student having to focus on a left or right hand teacher. and after opening you have direct communication and feedback. imo this is the best way to learn landing patterns. cause in theory it's always easier than in the real (had to find out this by myself) in danger of repeating myself: i'm nearing my 200th jump and i think i can handle my canopy fairly well but i havent even explored all the depths and possibilities it has. but some students just finishing their tandem progession and getting their licenses have the flying skills i had with say a hundred jumps. Tandam Progression or AFF
feuergnom replied to andie2skydive's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
maybe i'm biased but i'll try to sum up my impressions. first of all - i did a classic aff-training on a fairly big dz with a huge landing area. when i had my license i went back home and faound me a new dz. the biggest differenze was (and still is) the landing area which in comaprison to other places i've jumped so far is "relatively" small - a field 200 x 200 meters surrounded by trees. i didn't have any problems with canopy-controll right from the beginning so i had no problem finding the right spot. but visiting jumpers from other dz's hesitated to land there. that's where tandem progression comes in very handy - canopy controll! from what i saw first hand students (tandem progression) with say 5 or 6 jumps are much better in flying a landing pattern than the "normal" aff-Student at any other Dz in austria. and if they on't make it back to the dz because of a bad spot once they are solo they land in places i would hesitate to go in with no problem at all (there's a lot aof wineyards araound here) i completely disagree with the opninion that tandem progression is all about money and making more profit. i am very sure it's about making skydiving for students even safer than previous methods. this may sound/be controversial: the method stands or falls with one thing - the tandem master. if he thinks of a "normal" passenger only as a piece of living cargo to be transported from 12k to ground level safely he's just transporting cargo. and don't tell me that you havent experienced this attitude yet and that it doesn't happen. it does! on the other hand: if you really think that somebody doing a tandem could be a potential student you act differentely and people notice the difference (some of the customers at our dz have done tandems before so they know what they are talking about). (maybe - i hope i don't get stoned for this - this is also connected to what kind of tandem gear you are flying. there seems to be a big difference between vector-tm's and strong-tm's.) the answer to the question is a bit tricky cause every method has it's benefits. but if i were to make mylicense again i'd prefer tandem. gives you a lot more confidence in the first three jumps and you don't have to be worried bout the damn radio -

I'ver read some reviews on european DZ's cause thats where i live - but most of the time it seemed like the owner just bragging bout his place - big turn off wrote one myself though - but not for the place where i jump cause i think it would be biased The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle dudeist skydiver # 666

unless your are 100%bullteproof that you konw what you are doing i wouldn't advise you to re-attach a bagged main. the possibility that you end up flying backwards is to big. imo - go to the dz a bit earlier and get the job done under supervision of a rigger if you don't have the space to do it at home. saves trouble & increases safety The universal aptitude for ineptitude makes any human accomplishment an incredible miracle dudeist skydiver # 666
