....and Veterans' Day. One of my favorite renditions of this song. Stephen Foster - sung by Carol Dennis

And Chinese nukes are full of real US technology. So we're even ...in a yin(g)-yang sorta way.

Really a funny show. Almost as well written as "Barney Miller".

What is wrong with engineers? Shooting a dead horse.

I hope you don't write the Chamber of Commerce brochure for the local DZ! You're supposed to sugar-coat those descriptions ...not lay out the ugly truth like that. (That was pretty dam accurate!) -
So ...now that they're both gone, who wins ...Paterno or Bowden?

I kind of think not. I think the original document had a number of deficiencies that needed to be addressed over the years; slavery, voting rights . . . The Bill of Rights and other Amendments addressed some issues, but what irks me is that some folks seem to think certain issues are sacred rights simply because they appear in the US Constitution . . . well, again, I refer back to slavery and voting. Not everything our Founding Fathers wrote was brilliant. It seems that they forgot to mention slavery and voting (except by members of Congress or by the Electors) in the Constitution. Both issues could easily have been addressed through legal pathways and/or faithful interpretation of the Constitution in the context of the founding principles. The country failed to address those issues for over a hundred years. Of course rights are not "sacred" simply because they appear in the Constitution. Those rights are only as sacred as the honor of those who have sworn to uphold and defend the Constitution and of the population who places their trust in them.

"Down Goes Frazier! Down Goes Frazier! Down Goes Frazier!" RIP

I think everyone already knows that. The belts are only to keep the weight distribution reasonably stable while the pilot tries to manage the a/c ...and to keep the first responders from having to "expand" their search area very far from the site. However, belts have been shown to have "worked" (minimized injuries) in actual crash landings.

i agree with you that seatbelts are very important. BUT... If i am literally strapped into a plane, i want to be able to unstrap myself in case of any emergency. If the shit hits the fan, i do not want to be dependent on someone else unhooking me. Good point! I'm glad we are having this discussion. Anybody got suggestions for alternatives here? 1. Somebody belts you in. 2. You leave it off. 3. ???? Sharing a seat belt with another? Surely that is a sign of poor design or loading? It's not something that I had thought about previously. I guess because we normally attach the belts to our rig you could always try and get out of the rig. There's another use for a hook knife ...as long as you don't f'up and slice a main lift web or leg strap instead of the belt in all the confusion!

Forget the NFL, who's excited about College Football?
muff528 replied to skymama's topic in The Bonfire
Gators scored 10 points vs Bama including a TD! LSU only scored 9 against them and couldn't get into the end zone. Gators scored 11 points vs LSU including a TD. Alabama only scored 6 points and they couldn't get into the end zone, either. (I'll take solace wherever I can get it this year even if I have to twist results.) Great game, though! Deserving of a rematch? -
Actually, if, hypothetically, it really came right down to it (general uprising, revolution, etc.) your land in the country would really be more valuable than all the other stuff the occupiers are clamoring for. Can't eat cash or grow blueberries in a condo. All those really destitute folks and functionally disabled who are now totally dependent on the government for food and shelter would be the real losers. Canned food and Kalashnikovs...Canned food and Kalashnikovs. Apparently they prefer Mossbergs over Kalashnikovs. (Prolly don't want any processed food, either.)

Well, then you, too, would be participating in the chaos (unless you were defending yourself or family from an immediate threat). We have actual laws to deal with "unlawful" acts. Most are "Constitutional". Sorry, I didn't realize this was necessarily a "gun" thread.

I don't freaking know I'm in the same place myself Im seeing this great girl who is now in brazil but.....she lacks a university education which is a major issue for me and shes playing for keeps and I'm so not there and........I can't figure out how to break up with this great girl with out hurting her. For a guy who has received god knows how many dear shah email I'm coming up blank. It freaking sucks. We are talking about nut under sucking. And she is one of those great debaters and every time I say something she debates me.....and god I hate making girls cry...it freaking sucks shah, grow a pair & break up with her. You're hurting her more by not doing it & stringing her along. I know it sucks to hurt someone you think is awesome, but the sooner you do it the less it will suck for both of you. Good luck. Maybe someone could hookup Shah's girlfriend with Nataly's boyfriend. Two birds/one stone.

Who has influenced your skydiving career ?
muff528 replied to timber's topic in Skydiving History & Trivia
Being fortunate enough to have been introduced to the sport at Zhills, I've had the opportunity to be influenced by, and jump with a lot of folks ...famous and infamous. But if I were to name a couple I would have to say Nigel Turner whose patience and critiques brought uncounted jumpers from flailers to reasonably proficient skydivers, first at Phoenix/Zhills and then at Skydive City. The other would be Johnny Gates who always helped me keep the sport in perspective as far as taking things too seriously is concerned. -
I agree. The Constitution is neither "right" nor "wrong". It is really nothing more than a set of rules that the Congress (collectively) agreed upon to uphold the founding principles (written down over a decade earlier) that certain Rights were "unalienable" and that they believed were "self-evident". Once the country decided to stray from this set of rules the Constitution effectively became impotent and malleable to the ruling class's whims. That's the genie that's out of the bottle. Yet you support them and their minions lock stock and barrel....so to speak. Well, it seems that the alternative is anarchy. Look out yer window.

Might not be required, but.....http://www.nytimes.com/1992/04/23/us/16-die-in-california-crash-of-plane-full-of-sky-divers.html Contrast that with this ...just a year later.

You could "un-friend" him in the facebook and change your relationship status to "single" or "it's complicated".

Well, I'm a little rusty ...OK, a lot rusty! But I'm game if everyone else is up for it. I like to dive late. Sorry, those slots are already taken I should have guessed that all the easy slots would be taken.

Oops! Forgot. #1581 I've been eligible for over a year but I kept forgetting to apply.
