questions about job application forms that ask about your ethnicity
muff528 replied to SpeedRacer's topic in Speakers Corner
a) What does Quade's post #10 have to do with your allegation in post #3 (which is what I responded to in the first place)? b) Why do you assume that corporations are collecting job application/hiring data for the purpose of "screwing" future employees and not for keeping track of their compliance with federal EEOC regulations (as much for their own records as for reporting to bureaucrats)? -

'Splain please. Maybe I should have said "The rules of hiring, with regard...." ? Edit to add from your post #3 -- "Additionally, the data is reported to the Dept of Labor ( if the co. is big enough) to comply with Equal Employment dictates from the government." -
questions about job application forms that ask about your ethnicity
muff528 replied to SpeedRacer's topic in Speakers Corner
Do you honestly believe in this age of Facebook any employer can't tell what ethnicity a candidate is. Oh dear, that's almost charmingly innocent. ..not to mention that at some point in the process there will likely be actual interview. -

Of course they will use that data to defend themselves. It's the same data the company used to ensure compliance in the first place. Of course the data will be used in negotiations. The rules of employment, with regard to an applicant's/worker's demographic profile, have been set by the gov't. ...not the corporation. By saying that a corporation uses the data to "screw the worker", you are assuming that the corporation is knowingly and purposefully attempting to violate the EEOC regs. Nothing wrong with a company presenting evidence of it's compliance in a lawsuit that alleges non-compliance. -

I suppose applicants could claim whatever they want on the application. It's just "data" that the corporation uses to ensure compliance and passes along to the feds as is required by federal regulations. If the applicant is lying on the form then that could be one of the "ways" the worker would be "screwing" the corporation ...unless the applicant really doesn't fit into a specific demographic group, thereby exposing the ridiculosity of the reporting mandate to begin with. -

So, the corporation collects employee demographic data to monitor and ensure their compliance with the dictates of the EEOC and DOL and to protect themselves from exposure to lawsuits that may be related to any non-compliance ....and you consider that to be a "way" that the corporation is screwing the employee? -
You'll do fine! Looking up at the plane really does help arch and stability. But remember ...hop ..then pop! (you'll probably enjoy it and gain some confidence at the same time)

Pol Pot....what mother would name her son that, I ask you? Kinda makes you wanna laugh. He named himself. I think he had his name legally changed ...kinda like Lew Alcindor or the Pope.

I Thought The UN Already Named This Award for Josef Mengele
muff528 replied to muff528's topic in Speakers Corner
My mistake. UNESCO Prize for Research in the Life Sciences. "...President Teodoro Obiang Nguema, a man whose regime is accused of gross human rights violations, will be associated with an organization whose stated mission is the promotion of peace and human rights through cultural dialogue." -
Being assholes on the northern border makes them feel like they are relevant and that their job/existence has some meaning ....even with the knowledge that they have completely lost control of the other border (albeit through no fault of their own). It must be frustrating to them knowing that it is their own employer's policy to demonize, and sometimes criminalize them as they conduct their prescribed duties).

several military bases cover more area that ten miles when you add in the area for testing weapons. the notion of getting blown up would make a couple think twice about crossing. It would make those crossing go to other areas but that would just make those areas easier to patrol. The Avon Park Bombing Range in central Florida is a popular hunting/fishing/recreation area and is still an active bombing and gunnery range. Plenty of fish, wildlife and unexploded ordnance to keep the place interesting.

I have to admit that I'm old enough to remember it. (Won't be long and I'll be old enough to not remember it.) I think we should build the wall but design the watchtowers so that the gun turrets can be pointed in either direction. Then it would have a special purpose no matter which ideology is in power. That'll save some money if we can keep "the center" from tearing it down. (I really do have all the answers

Al Qaeda to Iran: Stop Spreading 9/11 Conspiracy Theory
muff528 replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
Such a dilemma for the faithful! Do we claim 9/11 as a great victory for jihad over the Great Satan or do we condemn the attacks as a failure of capitalism and secular freedom or possibly just another despicable act by the jew animals? "STFU, Ahmananothermite!" ....bwaaaaahahahahaha! -
Saudi woman to be lashed for defying driving ban

Full story: BBC News You do the crime, you do the time! This lawless scumbag should be thankful that she's not going to be locked up at Gitmo and be subjected to the horrific human rights violations that can only be dealt out by the sons and daughters of the USA. -
I wouldn't worry too much about it. It appears that the Zeta Reticulans have already blown the date once before. (probably didn't take speedy neutrinos into consideration in their calculations ...either that or they forgot all about leap years.) Another explanation is that when they abducted Barney and Betty they got really pissed when they found out they weren't the "famous ones" and are now getting some kind of charge out of occasionally scaring the daylights out of earth-folk just for the hell of it.

That thought did cross my mind when I first read about the neutrino experiment. But we are talking about CERN here ...not some kitchen table lab.

Abbas said that the Palestinians "extend our hands to the Israeli government and the Israeli people." .... (but) On Friday afternoon, Abbas said he was adamant about not recognizing Israel as the Jewish state. "They talk to us about the Jewish state, but I respond to them with a final answer: We shall not recognize a Jewish state," Abbas said in a meeting with some 200 senior representatives of the Palestinian community in the US, shortly before taking the podium and delivering a speech at the United Nations General Assembly. .... Meanwhile, Hamas said Friday that Palestinians should liberate their land, not beg for recognition at the United Nations, firmly rejecting President Abbas' quest for statehood. Speaking hours before Abbas was due to ask formally that the UN recognize a Palestinian state, senior Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said this would not bring independence. "Our Palestinian people do not beg for a state. ...States are not built upon UN resolutions. States liberate their land and establish their entities," Haniyeh said. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4126571,00.html I don't know which is doing more damage to the Palestinian people/cause, Abbas or Hamas. At least Hamas plays it's cards face up. Abbas says one thing to the world and quite another behind closed doors.

Just a question - Is it the claim that the neutrinos exceeded the vacuum speed of light, c? Or did they exceed the speed of light through air or some other medium that would have slowed "light" but would have had no effect on the speed of the neutrinos? I would think that the "precise" measurement of the distance between emitter and detector would have had to have used some process that involved radio or other "photon-based" devices, including GPS, etc. How about local gravitational fields that might have more interaction with light than it does with neutrinos? My point is that there are a lot of things to take into consideration, given the 730 km distance. Any mistake or omission in the distance measurement could account for the "observed" speed. This experiment definitely needs to be reproduced by an independent team at a different location.

Yeah, and Lucas equipped cars are faster than the speed of darkness. Their motto: ~Be Sure to Get Home Before Dark~ The Lucas Vacuum Cleaner ...the only product they make that doesn't suck. Scientists are still trying to understand the physics behind the darkon particle emitted by Lucas headlamps and responsible for the missing mass of the universe. I think maybe they are overlooking the possibility of an elusive Lucas darkino that carries away the energy from the car battery while being otherwise undetectable. Hmmmm! You might be on to something there. Maybe the darkino has something to do with the "magic smoke" that is sometimes seen to be emanating randomly from various components thereby causing the darkon emission. I'd like to see a Feynman diagram of that process. Also, it was Heisenberg who came up with the "uncertainty principle" but it was Lucas who brought the idea to market with their "flicker" position on their switches.

Those neutrinos are so fast they can flip the light off and be in bed before it gets dark. Double (maybe even triple) entendre intended.
