Um...read the table. That's listed as a terrorist attack. If you're of the opinion that terrorist attacks should not be separated from hostile action, fine. But if you add the two columns, Clinton's numbers are still well below Bush's. you don't make a habit of reading threads you engage in do you? www.FourWheelerHB.com

I was wondering about that. It seems strange that they would classify that as terrorist action and all recent deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan (often fighting the same type of warlords, insurgents and militiamen) as hostile action. Still, despite that grey area it is clear that under Bush there have been much more military deaths, and vastly more deaths due to all forms of enemy action, and therefore the OPs claim falls flat on its face. Not that I'd expect him to recognise that. I have to agree there is a tremendous difference between fatalities and casualties. www.FourWheelerHB.com

Fair enough. 17 Americans were killed in Mogudishu on October 3rd and 4th of 1993. Most definitely NOT in a terrorist attack. www.FourWheelerHB.com

um there were 17 killed in the bombing of the USS Cole and that most definitely was a hostile action. www.FourWheelerHB.com

7500 in training accidents? was our military that bad? maybe the democrats are not that good at protecting us or the military personel. What you fail to understand is that military members are just like anyone else in society. We get into car crashes. There are suicides. There are freak accidents. And believe it or not some have even died skydiving (both rec and training). You seem to think 7500 is a very large number when, in fact, its not. I know the Air Force alone has in the neighbourhood of 300,000 members. Tally that to the population of the Army, Marines, Coasties, Navy and you have quite a massive number of people there that encompases "the military". Very good point. www.FourWheelerHB.com

7500 in training accidents? was our military that bad? maybe the democrats are not that good at protecting us or the military personel. No. Our military just trains that hard. What I did while I was in was fucking insane as I'm sure others have had similar experience. www.FourWheelerHB.com

training accidents mainly. We lost 40 Marines one night due to a mid-air collision between an AH-1 Cobra and a CH-46 Sea Knight full of infantry. www.FourWheelerHB.com

It wasn't like our military wasn't doing anything during Clinton's presidency. There was Somalia, Bosnia, the bombing of the USS Cole, the embassy bombings, as well as base closures and having to operate on much less money. Just because bullets aren't flying doesn't mean our service members are on the beach sipping a pretty drink with an umbrella in it. www.FourWheelerHB.com

Obama and the attempt to destroy the Second Amendment
downwardspiral replied to piper17's topic in Speakers Corner
The fact that there are people here who are willing to give up any rights at all is truly appaulling. I, Jason Burroughs, do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God. www.FourWheelerHB.com -
Why Vice Presidents matter in this election

Great debating tactic: if you're shown to be wrong, redefine the terms until you're right. It doesn't matter how we define the terms, if we're talking about McKiernan all that matters is how he defines it. And judging from nerdgirl's quote clearly, however he defines it, he doesn't think it's appropriate for Afghanistan. First of all I never debate. I don't use tactics. I simply discuss. By engaging in a discussion with nerdgirl I know I'm bound to learn something (i.e. lose ). Especially regarding a subject that , if not within, is very near her area of expertise. Nerdgirl - After thinking about it this weekend, it is very clear McKiernan does not want a surge. However it is also very lcear McKiernan never said a surge won't work. www.FourWheelerHB.com -
Why Vice Presidents matter in this election

I watched the debate as well as General McKiernan's press conference so let me ask you this. What is a "surge" to you? A surge to me would be more boots on the ground, temporary or permanent, in order to accomplish specific objectives. McKiernan wants 4 more brigade combat teams (14,000-20,000 additional troops) in order to establish better secruity in Afghanistan. The Iraq surge consisted of 30,000 additional troops to help quell sectarian violence throughout Iraq. The majority being in Baghdad. Perhaps my terminology is wrong but it's looking like McKiernan wants a surge and why would he want something won't work? www.FourWheelerHB.com -

From the link that Marg posted, this is the quote that Biden was apparently referring to: So, no, the General didn't exactly say that, but I wouldn't say that what Biden said was a blatant lie. And I wouldn't give too many kudos to Palin, since she didn't even get the General's name right. I beg to differ about the blatant lie part. Biden looked into the camera and said the General said a surge would not work which is entirely untrue. Then, for emphasis, he repeated his claim. What the General did say was an Iraq style surge will not end the conflict. War is so much more complicated than just boots on the ground and a surge, or whatever McKiernan chooses to call it, is only a part of an overall strategy to win this conflict. In my opinion there will be a surge in afghanistan and the only thing that will determine whether we call it a surge or not is who wins the white House. www.FourWheelerHB.com -

Yep...I was wrong but not intentionally. Nonetheless Olberman is the bizarro O'reilly and I think both of them stink. www.FourWheelerHB.com

Well I was working from memory based on a report I'd seen on the news but here is the real story. http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/08/msnbc-hosts-olbermann-matthews-booted-from-political-night-duties/ www.FourWheelerHB.com

Really? Are you sure that McClennan GEN McKiernan's comments were not more in line with Sen Biden's? VR/Marg Yup. Biden said the General said a surge won't work in Afghanistan. The General never said that. www.FourWheelerHB.com -

Kudos to Palin for actually knowing and understanding what the commanding general in Afghanistan said while the 35 year senator did not....or was that just an blatent lie on Biden's part because he knows people will take his word for it before Palin's? www.FourWheelerHB.com -
I liked Olberman quite a bit when he was on ESPN and I caught his show Countdown from time to time and found him entertaining but after the Palin's speech at the RNC I realized he is profoundly biased against the republicans. If I would have been drinking and took a drink everytime he said Palin didn't write the speech, I would have been flat on my face drunk within an hour. I was actually surprised to see him on after the VP debate considering he was supposedly barred from giving his political opinion by MSNBC due to his very poor analysis of the RNC. www.FourWheelerHB.com

It depends on the context. The puppet named Achmed is not offensive. Perhaps his use of the puppet by perpetuating stereotypes is offensive to some. I've seen his routine and it isn't funny but not because I'm offended. www.FourWheelerHB.com

Oh I got it. You are just one of the worst perpatrators when it comes to coloring your arguments with insults regarding the subjects so I found it odd you would roll your eyes at someone for doing the exact thing you are known for. Laugh at me all you want because it is obvious you are the one who doesn't get the actual punchline. www.FourWheelerHB.com
