I've never heard that. How so? www.FourWheelerHB.com

I used "extreme" for lack of a better word. What I meant was the NRA's desire to stop gun control is equally proportional to the gun control advocates' desire to control guns. I certainly can't dispute that. I've never really looked into (or have been interested in) the gun control debate prior to this thread. So if I question an argument, that doesn't mean I am trying to discount the argument. I am simply trying to play devil's advocate so I can have a better understanding of the debate. Is that reasonable? www.FourWheelerHB.com

What's that suppose to mean? I lived off base myself. I was pointing out that I found it interesting that Marines, although highly educated in the use of firearms, are subjected to gun control laws if living on base. When did I do that? By comparing the NRA's desire to prevent gun-control with the gun-control advocates desire to control guns? I simply believe that the use of a firearm should be a last resort and by not knowing the whole story I cannot be sure that the use of a firearm was the only option for survival. Further more, you should try not to be so patronizing. Especially when I stated that I am open minded and interested in learning more. Guess you missed that. I ask questions because I see holes in people's arguments and want to know why those holes are there. www.FourWheelerHB.com

It seems to me that if that's the justification for waiting periods, then anyone who already owns a gun should be exempt from them. After all, if a person already owns a gun, no waiting period is going to stop him/her from shooting someone in the heat of the moment. There's no logical reason on the basis you present to prevent someone from purchasing a second or subsequent firearm with no waiting period whatsoever. GOOD POINT! Ok I agree. Only a waiting period for first time gun buyers is necessary. It does seem that in a round about way you do agree that a waiting period will prevent a first time buyer from shooting someone in a fit of anger. Is that right? www.FourWheelerHB.com

I have a difficult time believing that purchasing a handgun was her only option for survival. Need to know the whole story. This leads me to question where and when this occured. ie location and time of day. The funny thing is that the USMC prevents marines from keeping firearms in the barracks or on base housing. If personal firearms are to be kept on base then they must be registered and stored in the base armory. Wonder why that is? Now that IS ironic! Again I'd like to know more including the locations and what types of businesses they owned. Its nice that you quoted these for me, however I am not satisfied with small excerpts when we all know there is a much larger story behind it. I am not trusting enough to take excerpts such as these at face value. Get these off the NRA website? Keep in mind that I am remaining open minded and very interested in learning more. However I do feel that the NRA is just as extreme as those gun-control politicians you quoted. www.FourWheelerHB.com

Wouldn't that be the Beretta "M9"? Trivia: the Italian gun manufacturer Beretta, is the oldest continually operational business in the entire world. What's that? Do you mean the M1 Garand, the WWII service rifle? Gen. Patton called the Garand "the greatest battlefield implement ever devised." When all the other armies of WWII were still using bolt-action rifles for their standard issue, only the Americans had a semi-auto - the M1 Garand. yup the Beretta M9 and yup again. it is the garand. the damn thing has such a kick that i refuse to fire more than 10 rounds with the thing because i don't want to risk a dislocated shoulder. www.FourWheelerHB.com

Ex-Arms Hunter Kay Says No WMD Stockpiles in Iraq
downwardspiral replied to PhillyKev's topic in The Bonfire
Ok, that's twice that you have avoided my question and I find that rather convenient. Perhaps that is because you see it as the logic trap that it truly is. All you do is sit there and scream, "LIAR, LAIR, PANTS ON FIRE!" The fact is you really have no idea if there is or isn't WMDs in Iraq. No one does and we may never know till 50 years from now. I am amazed that your hatred for GW is so great that you fail to see(or refuse to care) that SH has throughout history proven himself a murderer, torturer and a politically violent person. Certainly a tyrant like SH should never recieve the bennefit of the doubt like you so strongly feel he deserves. This will be my last reply/post to you Kallend because for a while now it has been my opinion that your arguments never live up to your credentials and your narrow minded opinion will never be swayed. That is how I really feel. www.FourWheelerHB.com -
Yes I do in fact support education and licensing for those who own firearms. Also I would support currency. Not to mention the 5 day waiting period because this IMO prevents anyone from purchasing a firearm during a fit of anger. Seriously...anyone who can't wait 5 whole days should have planned further ahead. What I don't want to see is what happened in the UK, Canada and Australia. www.FourWheelerHB.com

Let me be the first to say that I am truly sorry about the losses you have experienced. I agree that owning a firearm is a HUGE responsibility. A responsibility that should be taken extremely seriously. No doubt about that. Now that said...responsibility should only be taken away from those who have proven themselves irresponsible. IMO Edited to say: reading it again I don't think the above statement makes much sense but I think it gets my point across

I have the opinion that fear is the cause (association vs causation) of gun control laws. Meaning, those who are not comfortable or experienced with firearms become gun control advocates. So just for fun I'd like to request that everyone post there stance on gun control and history/experience with firearms. Please be honest because dishonesty would only be a result of fear that I am right. Let me be the first: -Guns are good. -My dad taught me to shoot a Luger(yes you read it right...a Luger) when I was 11. Learned to clear jams because Lugers are a German piece of shit. -Team member of Highschool shooting team 92-93 -Rated expert on M16A2 service rifle in USMC from 93-97. Regulary scored 230-240 out of a possible 250. Yes I'm tooting my own horn. -Rated sharpshooter on the 9mm (I forget the designation) in USMC from 94-97 -Experienced in firing many different types of weapons utilized by the USMC including the SAW, Mark-19 Fully Automatic Grenade Launcher and the .50 Machine Gun. -Annualy go to the firing range to fire a 7.62 mm M1 Gurant and Mossberg 12 gauge shotgun using multiple types of ammunition including 1 ounce slugs. We take targets such as old computer monitors, keyboards, bottles and just about anything else we can think of to shoot at. Much more fun than shooting at a paper target. You seem to be real adamant that GW lied about WMDs in Iraq. This leads me to assume that YOU believed SH when he said there are not any WMDs in Iraq. Is my assumption correct? www.FourWheelerHB.com -
